Also we must arbitrarily have a normal type pokemon in each pair. For reasons.
But Riolu and Gible are MUCH cooler. Besides, if they stick to the trend of electrical rodents, technically Pachirisu should be one of the two in Gen 4.
....It's not like the Gible line houses some of my favorite Dragon types or anything, or that Cynthia is still my favorite league champion (Lance is a close second).

If they were to continue with the let’s go series, I’d assume they’d want to focus on small, cute, carry-able, Pokémon that preferably played a main role in the anime and are popular with kids.
Mixed in with a few memorable fan favorites. I guess.
But I don’t think we will get to see the series grow to that point. Something tells me they’ll probably move on before gen 3 or 4 get the change to go.
Just putting it out there, I would kill for Let's Go, Dedenne. My favourite of all Pikachu clones. In fact, it looks more like a pre-evolution of Raichu than Pikachu itself. Let's Go, Skiddo would also be quite nice as I can't stand its hideous evolved form Gogoat.
Wynaut, as much as I like it, simply wouldn't be feasible given the nature of the Pokémon itself (in that it can only counter the attacks of others). The Wobbuffet line isn't ideal for grinding and its use is highly strategic, which would betray the beginners-friendly approach that Game Freak are taking with the Let's Go series.
I think Bewear has a better chance of getting its own game than Stufful, but in that game, Bewear can carry the player instead (a la Machamp in Gen VII). An Australian exclusive version Let's Go, Komala would be absolutely brilliant though.
And Let's Go, Trubbish needs to happen. A trash spin-off deserves a trash Pokémon at the front and centre.
I don't think Let's Go! will become a series or replace the remakes of games. Even if it sells well. It could work as such, but these games certainly have the feeling of a late anniversary release. I'm not saying they were meant to release in 2016 along with Go!, but that the Switch was the perfect machine to put these games on to try and bring out the old element of sharing the experience in the world - in other words recreating the feeling of 20 years ago when people would be talking and trading and battling.
That would have been good for the 20th, but the Switch wasn't there. Gen7 had just begun as well, so it needed to release at a good time. I suspect it should have released last year, but for whatever reason was delayed. And so 2018 is the time for Let's Go! to get in on the celebrations. And I guess it also helps that this makes the 20th of Yellow.
So... In a way, I've just kind of said the games would work as anniversary remakes... Except after first gen the cover 'mon became legendaries and who in their right mind would give one of those as a starter.
"Hello, Crystal. Here's your choice of starter. Entei, Suicune, or Raikou. Enjoy your adventure, and don't complain of it being too easy."
Let's Go!'s definitely better being a one-off. Sinnoh remakes can make full use of whatever mechanics and style gen8 goes with, and hopefully impress a lot better.
Game Freak has 2 choices if Let's Go does very well, keep Let's Go as its own series or integrate Let's Go mechanics into the other main games. The former option would go down better with the community.
For a spin off I think Let's Go is fine and I will buy it for sure but it's hard to get excited when Pokémon 2019, the presumably superior game, will follow fairly closely behind. A little disappointed by the lack of random battles with wild Pokémon but will give it a chance.
"Back in my day, we had Poke Marts! There was none of this Pokemon Center "co-op" business. We walked across the street or across town, rain or shine, to the nearest Poke Mart and lived with it!"

I hope we be able pre-order games digitally soon, because if we be able do that only November it will be bad kinda bad timing for me. Because my disability ends at the end of November and I don't know if it will get extended. :/
