@Tsurii I've done it before under the "AreaLocke" name.

@Yosheel Knowing my luck I'd find my way out of the area first...

Easy just don't walk in the direction of the exit. Spatial awareness and sense of direction are key.

Though seeing the focus on the starter, I'm not sure if a regular nuzlocke will be possible. Can you even get rid of the starter at all?

@Yosheel Spatial Awareness and sense of direction only work if you are aware of the space around you.

Therefore, using your eyes.

Lucky I have an eidetic memory so all these dungeons and routes are carbon scored into my mind.

@Knuckles-Fajita that thing with the split Joy-Cons is the same kind of backwards complaint like when certain snowflakes COMPLAIN about the games with the X/Y exp share being too easy. No one is forcing you to use (and/or abuse) those things. They're optional. You in particular should understand that whole concept of not doing/using certain things in a game like Pokémon as your "hard mode" considering you've played a bunch of those games as Nuzlockes.

Guess complaining's a lot of fun, too, tho.

The problem is that the game is easy even without those mechanics thrown in. That's just letting you choose between Easy mode and Very Easy mode. When I expect the game to provide a challenge, I want it to do so without implementing any kind of handicaps or limitations. Otherwise the game is just insulting my skill and intelligence. I want to fight trainers in the main story that have decent AI using teams that are actually smartly constructed. The games don't really provide this type of challenge.

@Bolt_Strike The more I read, the more I think you might be having a ton more fun if you play the Pokemon fangame- like Reborn for instance.

Personally thought that Gamefreak should just implement normal / hard difficulty people can choose (Although with the amount of possible trainer fights, I wonder what "easy" way to increase difficulty will be, only increasing enemy trainer's levels? HMm... After all, making a whole new AI will be quite hard)

@darkfenrir Reborn is really fun, yeah, but I want to see the main games have that level of difficulty too.

And yeah, it seems like a difficulty mode is becoming a necessity for this series. If it's really necessary for them to handicap the game this much than the skill gap between casual and hardcore players is clearly too large to have them face the same types of teams and AI. A difficulty mode, one available from the start without any stupid mechanics like the key system attached, should be standard in every game from now on.

@Bolt_Strike That kind of difficulty is probably too hard for the main series- it's akin to maybe almost "Nightmare" mode kind that gets locked until you finished the game.

Although yeah, just have it all available from the start. I imagine the way to change it that won't be too "hard" for gamefreak to implement is like around +5/8 level increase on enemy's pokemon only (so wild pokemon isn't buffed), and then for teams like Gym leaders, rivals, E4 and champion, change their Pokemon to stronger ones kind of thing...

Not sure about AI changing, but these ones shouldn't be too crazy to implement by Game Freak, depending on their code.

But these are all just wishes I guess.

If I remember correctly from the days when I used to make some Pokémon hacks myself, there's a variable that determines the AI difficulty. I'm not sure how much changing that value actually changed how difficult trainers were. I don't like how many hacks get the difficulty even more wrong by just upping the levels which results in unnecessary grinding. It's artificial, it's not difficult, it's just tedious.

What I'd personally do to increase the difficulty would be to make important trainers have more varied teams with some strategic elements. They should also switch their Pokémon more often. Making an AI for Pokémon game isn't an easy task since there are so many things to take into account. Types, attacks, abilities, items... I can see why they don't spend too much time trying to make a challenging opponent. It will be even more embarrassing once the players find the holes in their code that makes them really dumb.

I don't personally care about normal trainers. I'm actually glad they've reduced their Pokémon count in recent games. I don't want to battle a trainer with 6 Magikarp. I think those battles take way too long. Now give them good Pokémon and it will take even longer. 1-3 Pokémon is a perfect amount in my opinion. Reserve 6 for the battles that count, like the Gym Leaders and E4.

Honestly as soon as I find a Pikachu in the wild, which would likely be Viridian Forest, I'm boxing the starter. If it wont evolve, it wont be helpful at the end. Even worse if you choose Eevee.

I think the main thing with these games is being able to interact with the starter. You may want to save the nuzlockes for the next actual main line game and try to enjoy these two for what they are... At least for the first playthrough.

And besides, I honestly doubt the starter Pokémon will be particularly weak.

@Yosheel You can box the starter.

So, i can change my starter (Pikachu / Eevee) with other Pokemons & following me ?

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

Eel

You can have any pokemon following you, but the extra features like dressing then up and interacting with them are likely exclusive to your starter.

@Anti-Matter : The starter Pokémon will always be on the trainer (Pikachu on the shoulders, Eevee on the head), while another Pokémon will follow you separately.

I'm not sure I would be too chuffed about there being a remake in the form of a Let's Go title every 2 years, but I would love another Johto remake. I would much rather prefer a redone Johto with a bigger more open world (by Gen VII's standards as opposed to Gen VI as the Let's Go games have been), but I'm keen either way. I wonder which two Pokémon they would choose for such a release though. Perhaps Let's Go, Togepi and Let's Go, Dunsparce? (I know Dunsparce isn't popular enough to get its own game, but a man can dream). Let's Go, Smoochum would be a likely contender (if not Elekid, Pichu, or Magby). Most baby Pokémon don't have the movesets to make them viable in battle. I guess Marill and Snubbull could also fit the bill, but I would much rather prefer precious, precious Dunny.

And then they remake Gen 3, and then riiiight before Gen 4 they do another line of remakes, starting with Gen 1 and so the cycle repeats.

I didn't think Gen III was worth remaking the first time. As silly as it sounds, I would have preferred a Gen V remake (as recent as they were) as I felt it to be one of the more interesting regions, and I loved the fact that it focused solely on new Pokémon (with so many odd and unusual designs, many being my favourite in the series to date). Let's Go, Vanillish, Let's Go, Trubbish, coming in 2020.

The joke was people were saying this is a new sub series of remakes, so right before they got to Gen 4 people think theyll just turn around and start again.

And honestly I think theyll keep doing it. Over and over.

In 10 years see the next spinoff on mobile influence another reboot line of remakes XD
