Can't see this as anything but a spin-off, no matter how much they insist in calling it a core RPG experience. Only having Kanto Pokémon in the game cements that perception.
I'll say it again, looks pretty good. Not great, but good. Basically what I expected: a 3DS game upscale to HD with heavy GO integration. The idea of having local co-op in a Pokemon RPG is pretty amazing too
Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.
This isn’t at all what I wanted next from Pokemon. I’ll be spending my money/time elsewhere, most likely. I really don’t care for GO, so this really doesn’t appeal to me at all.
Does anyone in this thread even play Pokemon Go regularly? I missed out on the initial popularity boom since my current (soon to be former) phone platform isn't supported.
Currently playing: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations (Switch)
Yeah, it has heavy spin off vibes even if it has regular battles. I'll need to see more at e3. Watched this on my phone, I'm going to have to watch it again later.
@Tyranexx I reinstalled it some days ago for the first time since summer 2016 to see how much it had improved. Answer is not a lot, but it's still a fun game to play while multitasking.
@darkfenrir Personally, it's the bloom and the kind of shading they used.
That local co-op is awesome, but would have been great for 8 year old me, who had lots of local friends that played Pokemon, not present me who doesn't.
Serebii just had a thought: no random battles means no EVs in the traditional sense.
@link3710 You're right, I was getting my tweets mixed. Thought I read someone on-site paraphrase TPC saying these are core RPGs (as in full-fledged, main series games), but that wasn't the case.
Edit: Nevermind, see YummyHappyPills's post above.
@darkfenrir I don't understand what you mean. The chibi-fied look of the MCs and the fact that they're going back to a grid-based overworld makes the games leave a worse first-impression than S&M for me.
@YummyHappyPills Exp. points through side-activities, like in GO.
