Topic: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee!

The Pokemon all look exactly the same as upressed YouTube videos of XY. No new textures, no hats on Pikachu, they look the same. @Tsurii I did look it up before replying to you, the comparison was identical.

Just caught up with this after being away on holiday for a couple of days, and if it’s what I think this is, a Pokémon game in a Pokémon GO shell, then it is not for me. I want to play a classic Pokémon game.

Go ahead and watch this sell ten million copies in a few months though!

I seem to be one of the few pumped for this. Pretty much takes what I like about Go and puts it in a regular game, something I wished Go was from the beginning. The drop in co op seems like it'll get a great deal of use for me.

So I guess the game is for people like me. At least everyone upset with it is guaranteed to get a "core" title next year, though.

Everyone I know that is negative about Let's Go are those who keep up with gaming news. I won't claim to know the full extent of negativity, but at the moment the only source of division comes from long-time, hardcore Pokemon fans.

I myself am split on the game. It looks fine, but the Go elements can lead to a slippery slope that may not be good things down the future. We'll see how things will go from here, though.

Do we have official news or announcements regarding whether we can evolve the starter Eevee? I know @Octane said something about it but wasn't sure if it's confirmed yet. If it is, that would be pretty disappointing, wonder how they will keep Eevee usable in battles if Eevee never evolves.

@shadow-wolf You can't evolve the partner, however you can capture other Eevee/Pikachu to evolve instead.

Your partner can be put inside Box (which is your Bag...?) though.

A little confusing, admittedly.

@darkfenrir Hmm. I hope they find a way to make Eevee worthwhile to use in battles in the latter portion of the game. At least Pikachu can be somewhat viable thanks to its electric attacks. Eevee's stats aren't too great.

EDIT: I looked up the stats for both and surprisingly Eevee and Pikachu have basically the same base stat total. In fact Pikachu has the same attack stat as Eevee's attack stat, and Pikachu's special attack is lower than its attack. Interesting. Of course Pikachu benefits from 2x type advantage against the numerous Water and Flying types in the game, which is why I remember Pikachu being more useful than Eevee unevolved later in the game (not to mention Pikachu learns Thunderbolt and Thunder while Eevee only learns Take Down as its strongest STAB move). Although Eevee may be useful somewhat as a Bite attacker against Ghost and Psychic types.

EDIT 2: Eevee can learn Double Edge (which is stronger than Thunder) and Last Resort (which is stronger than Double Edge), so it does have moves that can rival Pikachu's after all.

@shadow-wolf Pikachu has Light Ball (or something) that can help double its stats too, so Eevee need something like that I hope...

Lmao, so do half of the players of Let's Go have to start every battle with Extreme Evoboost? I certainly hope that Z-moves are back for this considering that Pikachu and Eevee are the presumptive starters. Perhaps one nice thing about these mediocre-looking games is that they didn't spoil the legendary Pokemon with the box art for once (if there even are any new ones).

@darkfenrir Is it confirmed whether Pokemon can even hold items in this game? It'd make sense but with the changes they've implemented you never know.

@Haru17 At least one good thing about this is that the game would be more difficult without evolving Eevee or Pikachu. Although it'd be nice to be able to get Umbreon or Espeon in the post game.

@shadow-wolf Yeah, you cannot evolve the starter Pikachu and Eevee.

@darkfenrir Less than 2 weeks wait, there's no doubt more will be shown during E3 (especially Treehouse Live).

Did this thread title change? The OP and following posts talk about the mainline pokemon game on switch, but the title talks about the Lets Go games. I'm confused. I want to talk about Lets Go and Gen 8 separately.

I feel like getting the pikachu version and catching an eevee to evolve and to go "see, if only you evolved you would be this cool" (original pokemon anime destroyed any charm that pikachu has in my eye)
