@Octane I mean, for the sake of gameplay they kinda had to do that. Plus, Kurt's pokeballs and these pokeballs aren't really the same either. The pokeballs here are more made out of wood.

@VoidofLight Its the same distance issue S&SH had, shame they didn't improve it.

@Octane I mean, would you have wanted a timed event where you have to wait a day for 3 pokeballs? I would never be able to catch pokemon.

Hmm so I got pretty mad when this game was first announced lol, but I've grown more used to it and it has improved dramatically, in fact I might even be interested in buying it.

HOWEVER, this still is nottt great lol, like even compared to like Pokemon Snap, Botw, The new kirby, it's kinda, yikes in comparison. The render distance on the bird, soooo much pop-in. The textures and graphics aren't great at all either, I know people are like "pS2 tHeSe ArE bAd" and they aren't THAT bad, I could handle them. They certainly aren't good though.

I'll wait on a review but I will admit I am modestly excited, the map size and just "freeness" (Is that a word? I doubt it.) of it all is really cool.

@Snatcher The distance isn't as awful as Sword and Shield, since things load before you even reach them, instead of when you reach them, and they fixed that god awful pokemon spawning that Sword and Shield was inflicted with, where the pokemon would just end up spawning right in front of you.

@VoidofLight Oh my god I hated that! They fixed that at least.

In all honesty its pretty hard to defend parts of the game without getting called out for defending trash LOL.

@Snatcher I saw someone in a pokemon reddit who got extremely upset because a pokemon was seen walking in shallow water in the trailer. They were completely condescending, despite people making good points, and kept telling them to "Defend" the game. People really like using the shill angle too, unless you share their thoughts about the game being awful.

@VoidofLight IKR? I think some of the criticism it gets is valid, its not perfect by any means, But There is criticism, then there's Blind hatred, which I think this game is getting a lot of, they don't even say anything good about the game, its just "New pokemon game is crap yet again" Without giving it a chance, a mistake I made to many times.

@Snatcher Yeah. I don't mind the proper critique of the game, since I've had my fair share of it myself, and I understand that there are people who genuinely hope the company improves, but it does feel like there's just a ton of people who hate pokemon, yet claim themselves to be fans of the series, while bashing everything they ever do.

I understand people want the company to change, The series was done dirty a lot of times, But at least try to give this new game a chance, the pokemon have (I think) new animations for once! can we at least be happy about that? instead just marking the game of as straight up crap?

@Snatcher Yeah. I honestly just wish the fanbase wasn't so toxic about these games.

I think it is a really complex issue, really. Like does this from a technical level look kinda ***** (based on this new video)? Yeah, kinda? Some of this looks super rough and some of the animations look barely touched. But does it actually look ***** in the context of the Switch? Or just ***** in a general sense?

We've technically seen games achieve more visually, technically, whatever on the Switch, but it is usually some sort of dark magical miracle either/and/or comes with some pretty significant drawbacks as has been argued elsewhere already.

Like if it looks like this, but also has S/Ss technical issues and chugs along then we have a real problem, but if they've made visual sacrifices - ala Rise - to get the game to run in a rocksteady FPS all the time, then I can kinda live with that? Like you could argue it is sad we have to choose, but it is the Switch.

Not to mention, I am watching this processed on YouTube and blown up on a large 4K TV, too. Very few Switch games look all that great docked on a TV like this, even without the extra layer of YouTube. Who knows, this might look gorgeous squashed down onto that OLED screen of yours.

I know damn well what the first thing I'm going to do once I get PLA. I am going to find the nearest cliff possible and see what happens when you dodge roll off it without the Braviary mount. I have to know whether it'll fade to black or... you know... splat.

Given the stylized visuals, it looks fine for what it is, based on the footage. Probably rough on a 4K set, but I expect it'll look nice enough undocked.

My concern is almost wholly with how compelling the core gameplay loop ends up being.

@Ralizah The gameplay is always my concern as well honestly. So far, it doesn't look like there's that much you can do outside of the main gameplay loop, and I'm not convinced that the main gameplay loop will really cut it.. but I guess it's just one of those things that'll probably be better once I play it for myself.

The first thing I want to see is what happens if you throw your pokemon off a cliff.

@Fizza @VoidofLight Dude in the comment section just straight up said there going to pirate the game, like damn, its not going to be that bad to the point you need to pirate the game LOL.

@Snatcher That's just... sad. I also had a run-in in a discord server with a dude who was acting like his opinion was fact, and who started calling people slurs and telling them to take their lives because they were excited for the game.

In that same server, someone posted a screenshot of a server they were in, and it was of people trying to get someone to steal a copy of Legends from a game store that apparently just got it's copies in, all so they could get their hands on the game early.

@VoidofLight I just don't understand, I know everyone wants gamefreak to change and all, But no need to be an ass just because someone wants to spend there hard earn money on something they Enjoy, don't like it? don't buy it! simple, its so simple, Leave card, in wallet, not hard, Like damn, People like that suck.
