Hah. I’ve been outbreak shiny hunting Zoroark, mainly because I want to see how the new form looks like shiny, and because I want to try it now that I know how to do it properly.
So far it’s been eluding me… But then out of nowhere, I hear a ✨ go off and see a golden thing go past the edge of the screen as I was on my way to try again…
A full odds shiny Piloswine just happened to want to be caught!
And it didn’t interfere with the hunt either, I was able to continue trying for a shiny after that.
Battling definitely becomes a larger part of the game as you get towards the end. But the focus is still more on finding new Pokemon and evolving than battling
Anyways, got to the "second half" of the game. Definitely have enjoyed the game so far and intend to keep playing. I'd say the 9s some have given it? I can see it. But I'd probably land around an 8 myself

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
Thanks for the suggestions on that fight people but I still can't get through this. I might just cut my losses as I haven't really enjoyed the game overall and the post game hasn't changed my mind in the way I thought it might do based on how people spoke about it.
When I talked about challenging battles, I meant that. But this is more like you need to use your Pokemon in this exact sequence and hit the right moves in the right places, you can't use any of your own strategy, just follow this exact sequence because of a bafflingly punishing final decision at the end of the fight to inflate the difficulty. This just isn't fun at all. I feel less like I am doing a Pokemon battle and more doing a hard mode just dance sequence instead.
Arceus is not like... *****, but it is definitely like the first big disappointment for 2022 for me. Like I told myself not to buy into reviews as they are worth very little with Pokemon games, but I ended up not following my advice, thinking I was in for something really special and it just ain't that. At least not to me.
I don’t know where you guys get your stamina from. When one dude is done playing stupid they pass the baton to the next one. I’m exhausted. My stance is clear. Game is a glorified tech demo for throwing pokeball. If you need more explanations check my comment catalogue in my profile. Peace and thank you.
Yeah it is kinda like pulling teeth in here at times. I may not feel as strongly as you do perhaps on this, but I certainly do agree with most of what you have said/see where you are coming from. So it is exhausting to be constantly told we're not correct because of x reason, that is usually entirely untrue or just general opinion no more valid than anything we have shared.
And yeah in regards to the review thing, you do tend to find Nintendo brands seem to get an extra bonus point or two seemingly for brand alone. Like BOTW for example is a enjoyable game, but if it wasn't a Zelda game released by Nintendo, I think people wouldn't be making all of the objectively false and truly hyperbolic statements they make around that game, for example.
And it is frustrating, because they treat you like some "hater" when you try and argue like "Hey I liked X thing, but this wasn't so great and..." and then it's just a chorus of "no, this is the greatest game ever made end of."
@yegs88 I literally just found a full odds shiny Rapidash in a rift. It has been christened Club Zero and I love them dearly. They actually join the pantheon of full odds shinies I've found including Crobat in ORAS, Pangoro in USUM, Araquanid in SwSh and TWO Lunatones in BW and BW2 in the EXACT. SAME. LOCATION. Funnily enough though, I've only gotten one shiny when I've actually hunted for one, being my shiny Galarian Slowbro I got in prep for the Isle of Armor coming out (their name is Sonny and I love them so damn much).
But yeah, it'll happen eventually so don't worry, it just takes a WHOOOOLE lotta patience.

I haven't seen anyone in here say it's the greatest game ever made, or even insinuate as much. They're just disagreeing with the criticisms levied at it for one reason or another
All I'm getting from your post is: "It's exhausting when people disagree with my criticisms of the game." Then you lean into the tired "Nintendo games are overrated by their base" argument (which may or may not be true, but it's common sense to expect that fans of one of the big three would like that company's games more, and it shuts down conversation entirely by attacking the people you're talking to instead of actually sticking to the substance of the discussion). In general, if you can make an argument, change the name of the game or developer, and it's still coherent, then it's not a good argument.
@Pizzamorg I think you're bringing this upon yourself, to be honest.
It's perfectly normal to have discussions in forums where people express their opinions and share why they liked/disliked features of certain games. People can discuss with each other their points of view and we move on. I think the reason why people have been so adamant to defend their own opinions from what you post is because you add in little digs to attack the people that have a different opinion than you. Instead of just saying "I personally disliked this feature", you say things like "This feature is bad and anyone who likes it is just making up excuses."
In general when discussing your point of view on a game, whether positive or negative, it's better not to attack the other side.
Yup, in reality we just have a group of people who didn’t entirely dislike the game, and two people who seem to be taking personal offense to that.
One of whom I had warned about their behavior already. @Pokester99 I’m sorry but implying the people who are calmly and casually replying to you in this public discussion thread are all playing or being dumb is not appropriate.

It is exhausting when I give a detailed, valid, criticism of a game and then be given a one sentence "nah that is not true because of the opinion I have on x". And then when I point out that all they've done is give me a one sentence, entirely subjective, response, I get them same "why are you attacking me" response back. Like if you had nothing meaningful to say, then cry when I respond back to you, why even respond to me at all? Just so you can say the popular opinion in the thread and have a dozen people come to your side and tell you they agree with you. Grim.

If someone actually puts forwards a genuinely compelling argument for their stance, then I'll happily engage in it. But I'm thus far left wanting.
@Pizzamorg Except it's the totally opposite situation going on here. You don't personally like the Noble fights? That's totally fine, that's your opinion and that's great. But your posts often come across as trying to invalidate other people's opinion. When people respond to you they're not trying to tell you you should have a different opinion, they're just validating their own opinion that you're trying to invalidate.
When I responded to you earlier, your post said that you don't understand how anyone could enjoy the noble fights, so all I said was I enjoyed them because I felt they offered gameplay variety since they're tied with a regular pokemon fight beforehand. In no way I'm saying you have to like them.

I just feel something like say the Noble fight thing is indefensible. Objectively they are boss fights in a Pokemon game where you don't need to use Pokemon to beat them. Subjectively, this is garbage.
You may like this because it is different than say your typical gym leader, but different isn't better just because it is different. Does it count as an attack to point out that is a rubbish reason to like a rubbish piece of game design? I mean I don't really feel so, but I am sorry if it comes across that way.
I have no personal beef with any individuals here, I am not "attacking" you the person, I am "attacking" the fact that that argument to me is rubbish. Subjectively (I guess?). I am sorry if you felt my responses seemed to be aimed more at you, the person, than the argument. I didn't intend for it to come across that way.
To openly dismiss an opinion as rubbish because it doesn’t agree with yours does seem a bit mean spirited.
I am not saying it is rubbish because it is different to my opinion, I am open to accepting differing opinions - as I have in fact acknowledged multiple times, when I have address 'hey I don't like x thing, but I appreciate plenty of people do - I am saying that argument is rubbish, because (subjectively [to me]) it is rubbish.

I haven't bought and played Legends Arceus yet but from what I read here, I have experienced with Ni no Kuni battle style and Yokai Watch battle style and their differences.
I personally didn't complain with their battle style as their battle style was differ to each other. Not a really big deal if Pokemon Legends Arceus have drastic different battle style. If you as trainer can beat the opponents without using your Pokemons, it was not something wrong to do in Pokemon games. That's mean you can use different strategy to beat the opponents. Try to embrace the differences from Legends Arceus since the game was not like typical main line Pokemon games.
Might be just one of these weird complex people thought process things, but I feel like "that argument is rubbish, because (subjectively [to me]) it is rubbish" is not much different from "that argument is rubbish, because I disagree with it".
Anyhow, this is not the "PLA is bad: Change My Mind" thread, let's try to move on.

Again, as I have said to others who have made similar arguments, the one thing - to me - that a Pokemon game offers, uniquely, are Pokemon. I want them to be the centrepiece of my experience and that includes each mechanic. Should you exclude Pokemon from a mechanic, then I'm just playing a worse version of a different game I could be playing - in this case, Monster Hunter.
So I guess if you don't play any other games or whatever else and enjoy a Pokemon game where you beat bosses by rolling about on the floor throwing bags then I guess power to you. But that won't change the fact that subjectively I think it is one of the worst "innovations" Gamefreak have ever come up. I hope it is a one and done blunder and we'll never need to think about these things again.
