@Snatcher thanks, can't say I have for at least 20 years (not sure I even watched the second season altough for sure the anime was what made me play the games in the first place with Yellow).
I will need to understand if there is more to it by end game. I am not much of a collectaton I am afraid unless os like a 3d platformer where going the extra mile rewards you with extra challenges

So far I've not found it to be much of a grind at all to raise my star level.
Most of the time, I just check the Dex entries and attempt to fill more than one requirement at once because at times, one set of actions can fill 3-4 different things.
It's super simple, for example, to throw a berry for them to eat, move behind them and then try to catch them with a backstrike. That's 2 dex requirements filled, sometimes with a third for a light or heavy Pokemon and a backstrike bonus to your star level rating.

I imagine it will be way more of a slog to get perfect dex completion but for the sake of game progression, you only need to get them to level 10 and you can move on to something else

Has anyone here talked about the music yet because OH MY GOD. Cobalt Coastlands 1, Warden Battle, Trainer Battle and Obsidian Fieldlands 2 are INCREDIBLE.

Depends where you are in the game. 1 through to 3 weren't a grind for me, they were more just sorta tedious to me. But the climb from 3 to 4 was rough. I dunno whether it's just because I am already feeling very fatigued on the repetitive, MMO, style structure of the game but I managed to get the mount, beat the Noble, resolve the story at that location and still have like 1500 points or whatever it was to level up. And when you are forced to do it, rather than doing it out of choice, you realise how slow the process feels. You can add like ten new Pokemon to the dex, complete a couple of entries and you're lucky if you get like 500 points. That can be a good hours worth of work, if not more.

Like I say though, if you're quite aggressively completionist already, you might not notice this as heavily as I did, but as someone who just wants to progress, I felt utterly trapped.

Also I tried out the whole team meeting thing people are talking about and it is real. So funny. A little huddle before we go face our next grind session.

One thing I haven't seen folk talk about yet is the Pokemon cry/sounds are showing their age. A few too many of them sound like chiptune that were used from the original GB era which were fine even in the 3DS era but in a game of this scale it starts to seem out of place to me.

Also does Galaxy Team become Team Galactic? I've been looking for foreshadowing in the game for what they will become to show their rise and fall like in Breaking Bad or offer a subversive take to make you relate to the traditional baddies like in Cobra Kai but I've not seen any yet.

I don't find the grind for stars tedious at all.
I've beaten all the nobles in 15 hours and I never got stopped from progressing because my star level was too low. I got enough points naturally from just catching everything I found lol

Pizzamorg

I just felled the fourth Noble. Took me two tries. My instincts naturally wanted me to try and squeeze in extra balms, but it was a death sentence. Just wait for it to stun itself, then spam it with Icebeam and Balms until it is defeated. Quite enjoyed this one, such complete chaos I'm surprised the framerate held up as well as it did.

That leaves only one Noble to beat and then I guess it's on to endgame? Apparently there is a surprising amount of endgame content, with people putting in anything between like 50 to 90ish hours I've seen with people grinding out that post game.

Less excited by the 1000 odd points I assume I'll need to grind out to get to tier 5 until I can progress again but I just need to make my peace with this now. Oh and still no real story yet. This chapter did give us the closest thing we've had to a villain though in Melli, what a total ***** that dude was.

Oh and given this isn't graphically the prettiest game, big up the details of snow collecting on your clothes or like mud getting on your legs etc. Those details are appreciated by me.

I'm kind of sad they didn't add Sawsbuck to the game. It's one of my favourite pokemon but has been mostly neglected since Gen 5. The first area could have been its Spring form, second area would be the Fall/Autumn form, third area Summer form, and 5th area Winter form. Maybe they thought it would take the spotlight off Wyrdeer since they're similar in design. I guess there's hope with DLC though.

@Cynas On the topic of Grass type deer esque Pokemon, pour one out for Gogoat. The dude hasn't been in a regional dex since his debut in XY nearly 10 years ago.

It still baffles me that they decided to release this game, based on Sinnoh, a mere month after the DP remakes.

The selection of Pokemon in Legends Arceus is great and all...but I already caught most of these back in December.

@Buizel Ya but to be fair, I caught all these pokemon back on the 3ds, But I do see where your coming from.

Since @Cynas was talking about who they miss, I wish we got blastiose, or at least more alola and galar pokemon, since those get mentioned in the game to be around at the time.

I’ve been so distracted by catching and doing little things that I haven’t even visited the fourth area yet. Got star rank 7 about 20 hours in.

Might be obvious by now for most but the research tasks that have an up arrow next to them are worth double research points. So do those if you want to get them to level 10 quicker.

One thing I’m really enjoying is watching Jubilife Village grow little by little. New buildings appear, Pokémon evolve, people get new Pokémon… It’s cute.

@Eel I didn't know that, Thanks!

Most of the time i'm way to busy catching, I mean i'm on the last boss right now, and I can't do nothing but catch!

@Eel Yeah I noticed the double points thing too, I'm surprised the game doesn't explicitly describe that to you. Unless it did and I just missed it. But it makes getting 10 points really, and less of a grind than I thought it would be. But either way I love the fast paced gameplay of this game so none of jt really feels like a grind to me.

I'm also a big fan of the progression in Jubilife village. I love it when any game with a hub world that has some kind of gradual progression, it really makes completing the sidequests feel rewarding, like you're making a difference.

Also I'm not sure if the Jubilife village theme expands the more of the game you complete or I just never noticed it before, but later on in the song it slowly becomes the Jubilife City theme from Diamond and Pearl.

If you skip ahead to 2:48 it's pretty much the full theme, but there are parts thrown in earlier in the song too. I love all the musical references in this game, hearing the Eterna Forest theme made me really happy and I think I also heard a bit of the Route 216 theme in the 5th area too.

I think so! I've been noticing it getting jauntier and jubilifier as the village grows.

Though it could also be just a side effect of me spending more time in the village doing sidequests and listening to it more and more. I'll check later to see if my version of the song goes that far.

Edit: Aha! On my game, the song starts doing the first set of Jubilife motifs, and loops before the actual song begins. So yes the song evolves too.

My god, people in the comment section suck some times, you don't the game, fine, but its annoying that I get attacked for thinking the game looks good,, its also not going to kill you look at it.

Edit: I was a little annoyed when I wrote what is above, so let me clear it up.

The game does look a little iffy, the draw distance is a little wonk sure, but none of this ruins how much I love this game to me.

Again, its not a perfect game by any means, but the graphics aren't the worse thing ever.

@Snatcher I personally have no issue with the graphics. They could be better, sure...but they do their job, and I'm so immersed in the game itself that I couldn't care less.

It's objectively the best Pokemon game of all time.
