Topic: Pokemon Legends Arceus

I've been able to catch multiple alphas outside battle, some above my star rank. The chances of getting them is fairly low, but I've gotten quite a few throwing Wing Balls from a distance. One was a level 72 Alpha Froslass while my star rank was 5 (which is obey up to level 65). It seems like as long as the ball jumps, there's a chance.

@Cynas It really does seem like articles and youtubers didn't know you could catch it, can you blame them? it says you can't catch it on the far left, mixed with the low chance and the big X above them.

Damn, I missed that shiny pokemon, at least there is a waay better chance of getting them, since you don't have to run through grass 100 times.

I ended up catching a shiny staravia, So I guess that more then makes up for it! (:

Found a shiny Carnivine! I almost missed it! Looks nearly identical to the normal coloration.

So it seems like shinies are considerably more common in this game, at least from what I see in your comments. By the way, congratulations guys!

I read on serebii that the shiny rates have the potential of increasing to ridiculous numbers.

Like, it goes from the regular 1 in 4000 all the way to 1 in 128 when combining certain factors, like reaching research level 10, getting the Pokémon to be completely researched, getting the shiny charm, activating an outbreak, etc.

@roy130390 Pretty much ya, I have never found shiny in the game before now, and I have seen three in the last two days!

@Snatcher well it might not count for some, but during community days in the Pokémon Go app, the featured Pokémon has a chance of 1 in 25 of being shiny.

I have been out of Pokémon for a while now (last game I bought was let's go due to nostalgia and the last main I finished was black 2).
However I see this one and it has some improvements overall but it appears to be a bit dull that you are just walking around catching Pokémon over and over to fill up all the check lists on the Pokédex.

Has anyone finish the game already? Is it worth it to the end or it gets quite a snooze? Basically i would like for people to try to sell the game for me

For the next few years people will be arguing about what does and doesn't work in the game and there will be loads of memes about it. You will be completely out of the mix and unable to follow the discussions on this forum if you don't buy this game.

@Balta666 If you ever watched the pokemon anime and ever thought, man I wish I could be out there catching pokemon in real time, I wish I could battle wild pokemon in real time, you know, it would be pretty cool to see all those wild pokemon running around! if any of that has ever pop't into your mind, or maybe you might be interested in an amazing gameplay loop, don't mind a little grind, then this game is for you!

So between ad breaks and half times in the two NFL games last night, I finally climbed the mountain and got to rank 4*. It took me a few hours, but at least I can finally progress again.

I know some people like this system, so I wouldn't ask that Game Freak out and out removed it from future titles, but I just hope in future titles it isn't made this like mandatory thing, like it is here. I think there are ways to incentivise doing this stuff - like increased shiny drop rates - without gating the whole game behind it.

I think a lot of my negativity against this new loop and game in general just comes from the fact, when I really think about it. Had progression been tied to overcoming the Nobles, much like it was in overcoming Gym Leaders in past games, allowing me the freedom to just move on when I was done with them, I think a lot of my other frustrations with this game wouldn't seem so bad.

It is just easily to seethe at all those micro annoyances when you've had your fill of an area, the story is resolved in that area and you're just stuck on this grind treadmill, catching like 25 of a Pokemon you didn't want in the first place so a number can go up and leaving you with a pile of admin as you go back to town to release all this trash you were forced to collect and tidy up your boxes.

Progression simply should not be gated behind this system. Even narratively or thematically it doesn't ever really make any sense, either. And I know the 'Gotta catch 'em all' tagline, but I've never played a Pokemon game where I've gone out of my way to catch every single Pokemon, completionism is not the driving force for me in a Pokemon game or really any game, honestly. I like to build a team I am attached to, add in some interesting 'Mons as I find them and keep progressing through the story. That still gave me about forty hours of thoroughly enjoyable game time in S/S, so far my 15ish hours with Arceus have felt mostly like bloat, filler and padding.

On the positive, I am at a new location now, so I can stop thinking about the grind at least for a little while. I got new Pokemon to chase. A new boss to fret over and hey they have introduced some new characters which might mean we get some actual story for the first time in 15 hours? I won't hold my breath.

Oh and for people who are just repulsed by this on a technical level, since I was playing it handheld last night with the Football taking up my TV, I just had a way more pleasant experience playing this game. I know that that is hardly a compliment, Switch games by design are meant to exist in the hybrid format. But the docked experience here is just so rough but the handheld experience is actually quite pleasant, especially on the SWOLED.

@Pizzamorg I have been playing it on a switch lite the whole time LOL.

I find the grin much better when doing side quest along with it.

Oh boy that fourth mount. Game changer.
