I am really looking forward to the IGN Video Review. Their reviews are unbeatable when it comes to memes. I remind yall of them critiquing ORAS because it had "too much water"
The amount of points IGN deducted was blowing the issue out of proportion, but their negatives on the ORAS review were “too many HMs” and “too much water”, which I think are both fair points.
Late game Hoenn becomes a chore because of how many identical sea routes in a row there are, fighting trainers that exclusively use water types, team Aqua and then Wallace. There’s just a 3 hour stretch of the game with almost no fight and environment diversity.
@Pizzamorg Ok so I when't back and read it, because I, you know, didn't read the whole thing and man I 100% agree with you, the whole review felt like a "What issue should we address before we send the leter to the pokemon company" there was no real reviewing going on, just telling me what wasn't there and then telling me why it was S***. EXP share section was ok but I still feel like it had the same issue. the only real reviewing that was happening was the first part were they talked about the issues with Plat.
I will be getting my Sources from someplace else for once
The review was ridiculous. A six because the person reviewing it got their hopes up too high for it. The only valid negative point is probably the fact that exp share isn't balanced, and a bit of the platinum stuff, but the other stuff like the Art style and overworld encounters not existing are just.. dumb. The Art style should never count against a game's score, unless the style is so bad that it causes your eyes to actually bleed. The stuff with overworld pokemon just makes no sense, given the games were marketed as "Faithful" remakes with QoL changes. Of course they'll keep encounters the same as they were in the originals.
@Munchlax I honestly liked the water routes in ORAS, since it felt like I was exploring the ocean itself, and as a kid playing blind, it was awesome to find so many hidden areas either under the ocean or on the surface. I remember being amazed when I found the shipwreck.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight Individually they’re fine, but there’s just so many of them back to back with no variety.
Also, I would argue that adding overworld encounters would be a QoL change, and kind of the bare minimum given that the Gen 8 moves, abilities and type matchups were implemented. They exist in the underground, so there’s clearly fully functioning code that could have easily implemented.
Eh I guess, but it's not really a deal breaker if they don't exist in the overworld either. Overworld encounters make Nuzlockes harder to do anyways, since they make it to where you can pick the pokemon you want to use.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight Idk why people have an issue with that, sure it can get annoying when walking in tall grass, But The overworld pokemon would sometimes chase the hell out of you, or spawn out of the middle of nowhere, so if you think about, not much was lost LOL.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!
(My friend code is SW-7322-1645-6323, please ask me before you use it)
@Snatcher I can see it being annoying in caves, or in places like coronet where the pokemon spawn every step you take, but then again you have repels for a reason.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight Whoa wait, there are repels in this game? with how people were talking about the grass you wouldn't think so, And totally agree with you, that review was, Whatever that was, wines about the grass then doesn't use repels like the hell?
Also whenever I go in caves, (In moon) I would 100% put that repel on because it could be annoying.
@Snatcher Yeah, repels exist in all the games. I figure they're here too, since they were in the originals and Platinum. The only thing is that it depends on the leader pokemon's level, so if a pokemon is lower leveled in a higher leveled area, then some encounters will slip through the cracks. Don't know if they changed that or anything though.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Snatcher Yeah. The review is just amazingly bad. I feel bad for ILCA too, since they're being targeted like Gamefreak was and being called "lazy" for something that's completely out of their own control.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
It does sorta seem like Gamefreak set up ILCA as a fall guy with this remake, so they can pretend they aren’t so bad after all. Especially if Legends ends up actually being good, it is really going to cast a long shadow over this remake and it seems like the majority of the genuine criticisms with this remake are outside of ILCA’s control, but something they will still be nonetheless blamed for.
@Pizzamorg It's moreso TPC that set up the arrangements than Gamefreak, and the reason why BDSP are the way they are is simply because they don't take priority, and they pretty much are just fallback games in the case Legends preforms poorly.
