do we get online matches versus random people or how will that work? what other modes online do we get?

@lovesushi You can access the Union Room by pressing the Y-Button from anywhere in the world. There you can chose to Trade/Battle locally or online. We dont know much about the online part yet, it looks like you will be tossed in this Room with a bunch of Randoms, where you can then watch their trainer card and challenge them.

You can also go to the Underground with people from online and explore together for what its worth.

I am currently trying to do some team building, for endgame of course, as the main game can be completed with just 1 Infernape, you can probably get to the champion with 6 bidoofs as well haha.

Its frustrating trying to get a team together that covers each others weaknesses. I was thinking of Azelf as the leader with Steath Rock and then Magnezone and Swampert to cover its almost non-existant weaknesses.

Starmie is also someone whos a great support for everyone because it can spin away all the stones and spikes the opponent may be placing. The weak link of the team is Swampert, hes only there to cover Azelfs behind in the first place but Scizor is amazing as he is resistant to 10 types and only gets destroyed by fire - which again I have Starmie and Swampert to cover for. The 6th member is probably Clefable with Ice Beam because it will be my dragon killer and Magic Guard is pretty much the best ability in the game.

Just one of many team ideas in my head right now. We are now 54 hours away from launch

Apparently even though the levels stay the same, the movesets and item choices are better. Rematches get even better as well.

@Eel Oh man I can't wait! That means I might actually have to try! Does that mean Chomp might have dragons dance on him? I don't know much, But I heard thats a move he never had

@thiz- I have my fair share of pokemon i'm going try and go for in the end, but for the most part i'm going to make a team on the way, and whatever pokemon I end of getting attached to.

@Snatcher That'll work for the first 40 hours of gametime for sure, so no worries.

Since it's based on Diamond and Pearl, there's also a bit of a random jump in levels when you reach the champion, so chances are you won't be too over leveled for that battle either.

@thiz- I never did online anyway so I wouldn't know, I i'm however, going to try and complete the dex this time around.

@Eel And I might not over level? Man I might have picked the wrong game to be my first nuzlocke, Can't wait to play it for the first time.

@Snatcher Ehh, it seems like the teams in Battle Tower and Rematches are EV-Trained, so its gonna be a toughy. Cant wait for the challenge.

It will feel good when the game finally launches in 37 hours. I dont know about you guys but I have a lot of options of what else to play and do, but every time I am just thinking "meh, I'd rather wait for BDSP or read some more stuff up about it". Its a quirky feeling.

I'm sure the game is still enjoyable to play for casual gamer like me.

The review on this site is pretty bad and sounds like Middler just watched a trailer and hated its looks. I completed two pre-runs now and it is pretty much a love letter to old-school pokemon.

Obviously I haven't played it, but the review on this site comes across as pandering to the Pokémon hate club. It's the lowest score of any site across the board. I'm not saying this game is a 10, but 6 should be reserved for truly mediocre games. This is not that.

In fact, the art style is the biggest reason I'm attracted to it. I LOVE the cozy look, a perfect choice for this Gen 4 remake.

I love the random battles which again, provides that old school handheld Pokémon experience. Which is exactly what I'm looking for with this.

I love the XP share. If you're rotating your Pokémon in any capacity (which you should be) it's not an issue.

Platinum content missing, ok. Fair enough criticism. I just don't care.

I'm no Pokémon diehard. I loved Sword and Shield's look, but the pop in killed it for me. This game looks sharp, runs well, doesn't have pop in... and provides a classic experience different from that of other Pokemon games on Switch.

So I'm excited, more so than for Arceus, which is likely to have framerate issues and doesn't look that good. I've archived all the other Pokémon games and will stick with this one (though I will give Arceus a try- maybe it'll turn out to run well).

A fair amount of reviews are starting to filter in now, between the 6s and the 7s. This seems about right from everything we knew about these going in. I do think the criticisms of a lack of Platinum content is valid and cannot be ignored.

That said the NL review is a bit of an odd one, as they mostly just went on and on about the art style and had very limited criticisms for anything else but then turned around and gave it a 6 out of 10? Especially given they took the time to praise both the performance/clarity, which likely comes directly due to the art style used, given how poorly S/S ran.

Plus stuff like the over levelling criticism are so personal to how they played the game, they seem like fairly redundant points to criticise the game for.
