I've been very interested in comparing Nintendo's official case/screen protector to third party options. Especially the screen protector. What does it mean that Nintendo is actually doing an official one? Does it mean the screen is easy to scratch? Is there any advantages to the official protector over other brands? And the same with the case... how is it? Is it protective?
Does anyone have any insight?
Edit: since there is a bit of discussion/comparison on what is a good case/screen protector, I've updated the title
I've never been a fan of screen protectors however seen as my iPhone now has a massive scratch across the screen I've changed my outlook significantly. From the research I've done you'll want a tempered glass one. These protect against impact as well as basic scratches.
Before you consider getting a tempered glass version of a screen protector, you may want to consider whether it will affect the Switch slipping in and out of the dock normally.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I think I'll get this tempered glass:https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Protector-iLLumiShield-Ballistic-Anti-Bubble/dp/B01N81DCSJ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1488401822&sr=8-4&keywords=illumishield+switch
@Masurao Oh? I had been looking at the Hori tough pouch... I went with the official Nintendo one as that is the only way for me to get a screen protector on day 1. I ordered a glass one that will come a bit later. Have you seen the Hori one and whether it is any good?
Picked my Switch up last night from GAME! I've got a bag and Tempered Glass in order from Orzly on Amazon. Will report back on whether they're decent- should be as I've used Orzly before!
Didn't want to create a new topic in amongst the billions of random new ones being created so thought I'd dig this back up!
Can any of you lovely people recommended some really good cases please? I cancelled my one from Argos because they failed to tell me my "launch day guarantee" with it had suddenly been pushed back to 31st March...not today Satan!
Also, looking for screen protectors that don't hinder the screen colours too much or is it better to have tempered glass etc? Thanks all!
Picked up the official case day one with my switch, and to be honest it's not the greatest case I"ver ever brought but it came with a screen protector which I promptly installed to my switch with one minor air bubble!
From the recommendation of this thread I've ordered an Orzly tempered glass protector from Amazon which I think will arrive sometime this week.
I think I will also look into getting one of the Bigben cases as they seem more sturdy.
So far my Switch has been living inside my 24 year old Red Dwarf t-shirt, which has been doing a great job, but I'm afraid it's not for sale so y'all gonna have to get your own.
I've got my eyes on a case, but it's not for sale yet so I'm gonna keep it to myself until I'm in a position to recommend it or not.

I have the bigben tempered glass. It is a perfect fit on the screen and whilst it now sits a little tighter in the dock it still fits perfectly fine.
What I will say ithough....tempered glass is fantastic in that it eliminates that unsightly bubble fever that is all too common with plastic screen protectors. The only downside however is if any dust particles are left on the screen they will look like dead pixels under tempered glass.
Tempered glass is twice the price but easy peasy to install and free of bubbles.
Another brand ORZLY gives you two sheets of glass and is identical in thickness to the bigben.
I was tempted to get the HORI tough case and screen protector but in the end I settled for the official Nintendo pouch screen protector combo pack. The screen protector is only a film one, not tempered glass but went on easily and looks good.
The case is weird. It's fine, though. There's a folded this in the middle of it. It's got a flew slots for game cards and this pounch thing which I think its forthe Joy Con wrist straps but I don't think there's actually enough room really. I think it'd prefer the HORI tough case.
@ProjectX1991 I ended up getting the Hori tough pouch. I think it's really great. Super stiff walls. It's slightly larger than the official one, and I do wish it had straps to keep the unit from moving, though it doesn't move much... i'm hoping i can fit the hori compact play stand into it...
I also got the hori premium screen protector and i think it's fabulous. It's thick, and putting it on is easy, as it's a very stiff material. it seems to make a dust particle almost disappear underneath...
Glad I put a screen protector on, just by docking and undocking, I'm starting to pick up marks on the protector and when not in use it's kept in the official Nintendo case. I think Nintendo may have to ethier revise the design of the dock or maybe install a tougher screen as standard as people who don't use a screen protector are not going to be happy.
