Topic: Nintendo Direct September 2018 Hopes and Predictions!

If they were gonna announce the Crystal Chronicles remaster in the direct, I would have been extremely happy with it just for that announcement. I wonder if there's any point in releasing the direct anymore since they'll clearly need to do heavy editing unless they don't mind the slight awkwardness of mismatched announcement timing

@MisterPi Well the FF Crystal Chronicles announcement was made during a TGS-releated Sony event, so it might not have been intended for the direct anyway.

It's Monday morning and we still haven't gotten a date for the direct. I'm really getting anxious now.

I'm starting to wonder if there will even be a direct tbh. im gonna be pretty disappointed if there isnt one. if there is it better not just be a bunch of stupid 3rd party crap like that FF remake

@boop22 I'm pretty confident that there still is going to be a direct. The big question is when? If they made an agreement with famitsu it could be on thursday but the best bet right now is tuesday.

@MisterPi Yeah, I'm wondering if the Direct is just going to be cancelled at this point, or pushed back to next month, entirely remade and probably more Smash heavy without much in it (again.)

Plus, they delayed it due to the typhoon and earthquake in Japan, but if they postpone it until late this week, there's a massive hurricane approaching the US....kind of seems wrong to delay it out of respect for one core market's multi-billion dollar disaster only to air it the day of your other core market's multi-billion dollar disaster.

Also, 2 weeks remain before paid online. In theory. I'm not convinced due to the delays.

@NEStalgia Assuming all the recent announcements from the past week would have shown up in it in some way, I feel like it'd be easier for them to either edit in some new announcements that maybe they were saving for another direct, delay it, or, like you said, shove it full of smash information again. Maybe we can spend some of the time looking at how Snake's costume gets some scuff marks at 34.2% damage.

@NEStalgia Nintendo knows if they push the direct to next month there fanbase would rage. Almost everyone is fine with them delaying it due the circomstances in Japan but their fanbase is still waiting for the direct which nintendo promised would receive a "new date and time in the near future". If the direct doesn"t air this week I would be very suprised.

my guess at this point is that its either cancelled or coming wednesday

@troy258 Maybe, but airing it this week would be bad timing as well....they have to squeeze in some time when there are no natural disasters in their 3 primary markets.....seems to be hard to find such a date these days.

I honestly don't think Nintendo will care about a hurricane over here. There's a discussion there as to why, I'm sure, but I just don't see them giving a hoot, lol

@NEStalgia I understand but they can't delay it forever. Famitsu is coming out on wednesday and like you already mentioned the online service is launching at the end of this month and with tokyo game show going on right now time is against them. They would just be better off by going on twitter and saying "the direct is available to watch right now".

There's also the Apple event on Wednesday, that might be where Nintendo reveals Mario Kart Tour.

A major hurricane hit my state during the time they released a direct. I doubt Nintendo would care much.

Eh, we don't know a definate timeline for when the online service will launch. All we know is "second half of September". That could be the 16th, it could be the 30th, or anywhere between the two.

@Cobalt I thought the conference would be during the event. But the point still stands If they don't release the direct before next week a lot of things are going to be spoiled.

Considering that the "second half of September" is less than a week away I think that we need a Direct revealing details about it (and reasons we should actually be excited for it) ASAP.
