@Chunga well that din't stop Nintendo for releasing Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World very closely, i don't think Nintendo care about canibalising the sales of somes of it Franchise/games, Super Mario All-Star 3D problaby is gonna be the Holiday title of Switch for this year and Super Mario 3D World Deluxe is gonna be a early 2021 release.

I don't think a Zelda game and a Mario game cannibalise that much on each other, being two quite different games and genres. Especially if one of the games is a remake/remaster.

@Chunga the sales for those two seem about right, they are in the same ratio as the Wii U equivalents.

True that. I just mean't the overall sales for Mario maker 2 must have been a disappointment for Nintendo. I mean, MM2 has sold "just" 1,5 million more (4 vs 5,5 million) games than MM1, despite Switch having like 4x the amount of consoles compared to Wii U.

@Chunga i see i too was suprised that Super Mario Maker 2 sold so poorly, considering that New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, a port of New Super Mario Bros U sold more then this game and is a more simple game, and also everything on Switch sold extremely well.

i like HD Rumble.

It'll be an adaptation of the Super Mario Bros. movie, done in an FMV format. Don't tell anyone, but I heard this from my uncle's cousin's nephew's wife's step-brother who services Nintendo of America's vending machines. Also, one of the chapters will be a parody of Night Trap. Another will analyze the theological implications of spaghetti.

I take it someone else has dealt with Mavis Beacon? To be fair, that one DID make me a better typist.

By far the most fun yet most campy typing game I've played was Typing of the Dead in college.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

@Tyranexx Typing of the Dead was slick fun.
Between ol Mavis and my teachers giving us keyboards without letters to practice on, I can swing my head like Stevie Wonder while doing transcription.

@HobbitGamer The instructor in the animation/modeling lab allowed Typing of the Dead installs on a couple of the machines. Nobody could fiddle around with the game (or any others; there were several lol, mostly MMOs) while he had class, but it was open season when the classroom was open. I miss that guy. There was also a MAME cabinet he and some students had built, along with two large monitors that formed a pinball "cabinet" that different tables could be loaded onto. There were a few bugs with said tables. Very smart guy who had many other interesting things sitting around. There's a reason he's one of the heads of technology. The budget department learned not to ask him too many questions when some seemingly random odd supply requests (usually for some cool project) would pop up.

I never had to deal with letterless keyboards. With ol' Mavis, too many years interneting, and my profession, I've become accustomed to not looking at the keys at all. It DID take me a bit to adapt to the num pad without looking; I normally use the number key spread at the top of a normal QWERTY setup since I switch between letters, numbers, and occasionally symbols (-, +, _, etc.) quite often.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

@BruceCM,

If Nintendo says to Square to hold their (finished?) game untill Switch 2, that IS Nintendo's fault. Same with Bayonetta 2 wich is somewhat of a "second party" game. Or its at least closer to Nintendo then Bravely default. The Bayonetta guys and the No more heroes (to mention just 2) aren't allowed to show trailers. I feel everything is under embargo untill Nintendo is finally willing to show us some stuff.

There hasn't been a spirit event or tourney announcement announced for Smash Ultimate at the usual time (Wednesday 2am BST), looks like we may be getting a Smash character this week as this is usually what happens on the week of a character release.

@Slowdive Hotel Mario will be part of the holiday titles for sure along with a finished version of that Mario CD-I game that only got to early development before getting cancelled where Mario explores real world locations.

Yeah - imagine how good it would look with realistic graphics (like the dev's of Hotel Mario clearly had in mind originally!). I think they should do a deal with real life hotel chains. Imagine how crazy it would be if Mario was wandering around one of Donald Trump's real life hotels!

That's the "October Surprise" direct right there!

@Henmii the Next hardware iteration (if real and most likely it is) is not going to be a Next gen one...

Imagine on October 2020, a surprise of Switch 2 reveal and some upcoming Switch games.
Just like NX became Nintendo Switch.

There better be a Nintendo Direct this week because I already bought a whole bunch of snacks to celebrate. 😅

Probably because there isn't a big enough difference between the 2 games so a lot of people who bought the Wii U version didn't feel it worth buying the second.

That's my guess anyway. I bought MM2 (after already having the Wii U and 3DS versions) but felt like it had already lost most of the novelty, so just sold it on ebay.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Reynoblade

Yeah, I remember being excited about Mario Maker on Wii U but when its sequel got announced for Switch it didn't really interest me all that much for some reason. Maybe it came too soon after the original and the 3DS version? I don't know.

Octane

@BenAV And yet Mario Maker sold about as many copies on Wii U as it did on Switch.

I think it was a novel idea, but the user made levels were never as good as the official ones. Even compared to NSMB standards.

It's 10 minutes until 3pm BST! That means something may happen at some point.

@Octane I wouldn't say never. Some talented people can make some pretty genius stuff. But yeah the average level you're likely to play will just be garbage. I only bought it for the creation part myself, barely touched anyone else's levels. If I want a good 2D platformer, there's plenty of better options than Mario these days.
