Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

@PikminMarioKirby @FishyS Nintendo did pretty much go silent on Switch 1 info between revealing the date of the January 2017 presentation in October 2016 and the presentation itself. There were only rumours and 3rd parties doing the talking for November and December. Nintendo did show off BotW gameplay at Game Awards 2016 but it was the Wii U version so Switch 1 promotion there was more implicit.

Nintendo could do something similar here and do a Switch 1 general Direct around early February to fill in the gaps and then have the Switch 2 software showcase around early March. Switch 2 has backwards compatibility so in a sense the Switch 1 general Direct would kind of be implicit Switch 2 promotion.

@link3710 I don’t see Legends Z-A being cross gen. Sure, it can be backwards compatible, but I don’t see this being cross-gen. This game will run bad at best and certainly not what you want to show off on basically a stronger Switch.

@Grumblevolcano Nintendo will probably be quiet about Switch 2 aside from bigger presentations (and possibly ads) (that probably would include superbowl)

Nintendo was likely quiet in November /December 2016 because usually there aren’t many big announcements in that time frame. I really like that idea of a Switch 1 Direct (mini or otherwise) between those.

I think Z-A will be shown off on Pokemon Day, and not sure when Nintendo is going to celebrate Mario’s 40th anniversary, but Mar10 day might be a good time to reveal more games (3D Mario, Mario Kart, maybe some Switch 1 game(s)?)

I like that idea of promoting the BC this way. Maybe during a potential Switch 1 Direct they say ‘all of these titles can be played on the Nintendo Switch 2’ or something like that

Does Nintendo usually give a 2 day notice for their games? Could they be doing this instead of 1 day to clear out tomorrow?

Who knows, but if Thursday comes and goes with no reveal, the internet will burn down.

@PikminMarioKirby They've done countdowns to release plenty of times before, most recent one before DKC Returns HD being Jamboree.

@Grumblevolcano Usually they have the 1 week notice and sometimes a few other notices, but I didn't remember if the countdowns were daily or not.

Today is potentially the day according to rumours that Nintendo will announce the reveal of the Switch 2 tomorrow. Though I’m not sure if they will stick to the 2pm/3pm GMT like for Directs or if they’ll go for the midnight announcement like with the original Switch.

Personally, I hope Nintendo just shadow drop the Switch 2 announcement.

Be the edgelord antithesis to all the online hype, Nintendo.

@Magician It would probably break the internet because you’d have half thinking it’s fake and half going crazy slowly getting their head around the surprise reveal.

@PikminMarioKirby It absolutely wouldn't be a showcase, the way they'd market it is "This is a switch 1 game, but if you play it on Switch 2 it gets these special features / enhancements"

So… is it too late at this point for a Thursday announcement? They would’ve announced it by now right?

I'm still hoping that whenever they decide to reveal it, it won't just be a short hardware reveal on its own. Just go straight to a big presentation that tells us everything or at the very least announce a game showcase to follow pretty soon after.

I do wonder if the facts are a bit messed up. As in, it wasn't the actual event on Thursday, but the announcement for that event will come on Thursday. After all, if the facts are right, we see the console. No games. That to me speaks of a small trailer that shows the console, perhaps only 30 seconds long, that will announce when an event to showcase everything about it is coming.
