Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

I don’t follow their feed closely, do they post daily? Has Nintendo announced directs/minis/etc at off times (not early morning PST)? Curious that there hasn’t been a post yet.

@Lazz They do tend to post daily during the week. No post yet today though. Maybe they're saving a later one for tonight like the 20th Oct 2016 tweet...

@gcunit thank you, that would be exciting. I am so ready to not be checking online regularly, in hopes that something Switch 2 is announced. With the recent rumors, I find myself refreshing much too often.

@Lazz I just assume it’s 100% being revealed next year and have done since early September. That way, if it does happen earlier I will be freaking out only for a few hours though I did get crazy hopeful excited in September when Nintendo were rarely tweeting for 3 days

@Grumblevolcano Ah, don't worry, they'll anounce it the same day they announce the Switch 2.

@jowy_sw I worry that they are going to use this as impetus to strike a lot of Nintendo music currently sitting on YouTube, including covers and "high quality rips".

Is the Nintendo Direct dead? They seem to be just dropping random announcements on Twitter. These combined could have easily made up a Direct

Not at all the news I was hoping for, but wow, this is cool.

@Grumblevolcano I mean a ton of the games shown are games that you can't play on Switch.

@RupeeClock They already do that tho. A lot. Just recently a lot of playlists of Xenoblade 3 music I had saved on YouTube were removed suddently. And it's not a new thing either.

People asked Nintendo for a legal way to listen to their music and here it is. I still believe it would be cool if at the very least they put that music for sale in like iTunes and Google whatever they have, even if it was way pricier. But it's better than nothing. And being part of the NSO subscription (the base 20 dollars tier too) is actually better than what I expected.

@skywake I think they do that when they feel they don't have enough for a full Direct but still have some stuff arround to announce. 2020 had some of these announcements too for... reasons.
I don't think they'd do a Direct until they finally announce the "successor of the Nintendo Switch family of systems".

@RupeeClock Honestly, the game rips on Youtube were only done because Nintendo didn't want to release their actual music for people to listen to. Now that we have an official way to listen to their music, uploading music from the games isn't really needed anymore.

The issue would be if they're taking down transformative works like Siivagunner's rips- or taking down covers of the songs.

Very limited selection so far, but feature wise it's a pretty solid app, which is surprising for Nintendo.

They're gonna drip feed us game soundtracks on this like they do NSO games lol

Long shot hope - but I would love it if Lemmings was added. That game had an amazing soundtrack. Currently listening to DKC, so good

@skywake It feels more to me like Nintendo wants to announce some stuff in advance of the investor meeting to take account of no Switch 2 news, kind of like how around this time last year Nintendo announced the Zelda movie. So like for example, XCX in March mostly doused the speculation over "Will Switch 2 release in March 2025?" meanwhile a few of the other announcements gave extra value to NSO.

@Grumblevolcano wouldn't surprise me if things like Animal Crossing New Leaf and City Folk are added. There's already menu music from the Wii on there.
