@Cynas Haha, either way, the game having a demo at any point is good news to me!

Add me on switch if you like Xenoblade :)

I'd welcome a demo just to see how the game controls. As much as I'm enjoying my time with the first game, it clearly was built with a different platform in mind.

Well guys looks like it's happening! The demo is set for June 25th! I think that's the same day as the Monster Hunter Stories 2 demo

I just finished with the demo as well. I really enjoyed it, I'm excited for the full game! I think they did a really good job at translating the combat to 3D with button controls. It feels really fast paced and not too complex, plus you still get the feeling of controlling multiple characters in battle simultaneously like the DS original. Collecting and trying out new pins is pretty addicting too.

I do have a few minor complaints though. The music in this one is a bit hit or miss for me, and a few of the VAs don't seem to match the characters too well, at least not what I would picture for them. Also, the writing feels a little off in places. The way characters react to certain events compared to others feels a bit disjointed. Some of their reactions or thought processes to their current situation just feels a bit too unnatural.

Altogether though it's shaping up to be a really fun game! I'll have to finally play through the Switch port of the original, since the new content from that game seems to be at least somewhat relevant to NEO.

Demo is great. The style is the best I’ve seen since Persona 5.

@Cynas
I’d agree with most of your minor complaints. But those are things I’m used to in the vast majority of JRPG’s I play so it’s not really much of an issue.

@JaxonH Yeah it's true, a lot of other JRPGs have some similar issues, and they're definitely things I think I'll be able to look past. Ultimately the gameplay is fun and that's the most important part for me. The story seems like it'll be entertaining too, even if the characters act a bit unrealistically at times.

To those that finished the demo how long did it take you?

Dang that demo was good. I only really started to get the battle system during the final boss, but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Ugh, I don't get why TWEWY sells so poorly. Like, especially this game which doesn't have a divisive control scheme finally. You'd think it'd attract the same sorta audience as Persona? Plus, I know quite a few people who became TWEWY fans due to Dream Drop Distance... Was hoping it'd at least do okay in sales this time.

I'm waiting a bit on this game. Not because I don't want it, but because July is already jammed full of releases that I want more. Gotta stick to my budget. In terms of Switch releases, SE picked a pretty poor month.

I can think of multiple reasons why TWEWY isn't getting as much attention.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it wasn't shown during E3. It's a sequel to a game that's still kind of obscure despite high praises from those who played it. Monster Hunter and Shin Megami Tensei are long running franchises. Stories 2 has had a huge marketing push. It shows up everywhere. SMT V is a game people have been waiting for years now. Persona 5 may have also brought some new people to SMT.

Neo TWEWY also shares its release date with Ace Attorney. Two very different games but there are probably others like me who are currently trying to decide which one to get first or if buying both at launch is a good idea.

Some may be also waiting for reviews before buying. Especially since the sequel is quite different from the first one. At least when it comes to combat. The demo gives a taste but not everyone knows there's one available.

Amazon is also just one store. A big store but still just one piece of a bigger puzzle. Sales may vary between stores and countries, physical and digital.

In conclusion, it's too early to say anything.

It's its, not it's.

This was briefly flashed on the SE stream with a bunch of other games, but confusingly it and a few others didn't receive any other coverage. I get the time slot was limited, but they could've...prioritized what they showed better. For example, while I liked the Guardians of the Galaxy showcase, IMO they spent too long on it (and Marvel content in general). And this is coming from a comic fan.

Snap's right ya know. The game is struggling for attention right now.

Granted, its doing better than the PS4 version by several hundred places on the Amazon Best Seller's chart, so it's doing relatively well, but this game needs a boost.

I think once MH Stories 2 drops and Zelda Skyward Sword is out, it'll be easier to focus on as the more immediate upcoming release. I hope, anyways...

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is also pushing against a brick wall right now. These two excellent RPGs are flying under the radar, which is why I'm trying to recommend as many people play the demos as possible. And MH Stories 2 which, yes, it's doing much better comparatively, but next to Rise, it's fairly low key. Any quality game with a demo is worth trying out- at least if someone skips it then, it'll be because they don't like it, rather than they didn't know enough about it.

I think it will do fine, if largely because of a passionate fanbase and its connection with Kingdom Hearts. But SE ignoring it at E3 was profoundly stupid.
