It's a pity, but I guess I'll just ignore Capcom entirely this gen... or at least until they stop treating Nintendo Switch like the crazy aunt you hide in the attic.

Or maybe don't take business decisions personally. Shouldn't matter what you think of the company, if they make good games you like you should buy them.
I disagree. Many companies make good games, and my funds are limited. If it's my desire to play as many third party games as possible on the Switch as opposed to stationary platforms like PC/PS4, then the logical thing to do is support interesting looking games that appear on my preferred platform as opposed to interesting looking games from developers who are avoiding my preferred platform.
Besides, I'm not keen on giving money to people who spit in my general direction.
@Ralizah OK, well, your funds are your business. But Capcom doesn't get any money when you buy a Playstation. They just see more potential buyers on established consoles than one still growing and crowded by blockbuster first-party titles. Time will tell if stuff like World was good judgement calls, but just because they may not work out for you, doesn't make them personal affronts.
And let's not pretend they're thinking of us when they release or don't release things in Japan. Double Cross got a demo on 3DS, and everyone in Japan who wanted it (read: basically everybody) played it and the full game on 3DS. To all of these people, what is the point in releasing the demo again on Switch? Everybody knows what the game is about by now.
For all that is holy, can we stop acting like the 3DS version never happened?
@Tsurii Only the demo. Not necessarily the full game. Still, the fact remains that there are still far fewer Switch owners in Japan than 3DS owners.
The XX port is a quick, dirty and relatively cheap way to get a Monster Hunter game on the Switch and still make a good profit even with fierce first-party competition (Splatoon 2). If anything it shows that Capcom is aware of how well Monster Hunter will do on the Switch. They just don't think now is the best time to heavily invest in making a new one for the system.
3 Ultimate got pretty much the same treatment. Developed for 3DS first, released on Wii U later. Released simultaneously when localized because the portable/console skew is not as great in the west. Switch is a hybrid, but the game released on it mainly has visual upgrades to distinguish it from 3DS, not unlike a normal console.
Capcom knows that MHW probably won't make a ton of money in Japan, so they pinched their noses and designed a lazy XX port for the Switch to make some quick money from the Japanese while they chase the Western market with World.
They're pretty clearly done with Nintendo and its fanbase for the moment, even refusing to port small games like the Disney Afternoon Collection, although I fully expect them to come crawling back if the console continues to sell well throughout its life. ESPECIALLY if World doesn't perform as well as they're hoping it will.

@Joeynator3000 In Japan, though? Try as I might, I can't find any evidence that Monster Hunter 3G HD ever got a demo. We certainly did, because Capcom knew we needed more convincing than the east.
And yeah, it's not to say that the XX port is lazy by any means (going from two screens to one alone is a feat), it's just clearly less risky at this point for Capcom.
Well I meant, I've seen some gameplay, and they put in some eye candy for some of the old maps. Even the Misty Peaks has some neat effects around the watery areas.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Huh, well it's disappointing that there won't be a demo, I guess I'll just have to wait until the western release to play it. Honestly, it's hard to drum up enthusiasm for going back to Generations on 3DS. Not because it's resolution isn't high enough, but because it's almost the. same. game. we've been playing since 2015. I wonder if Capcom doesn't want to demo their games on next gen to create an impression of prestige, or if there will only be a demo preceding the western release.
...You obviously haven't seen the game if you think this is a lazy port.
Well, I mean, compared to 3U is sure as hell is. 3U had the benefit of Tri's assets already having been made for a big screen, so they fit the Wii U along with allowing local crossplay with the 3DS version. However, with XX they didn't even try to make the assets look detailed enough for a Switch screen, they just made the same game run on the platform with more clarity and a few scattered new visual effects.

I agree with you. There are overworking and bullying complaints about the Street Fighter and Dragon's Dogma teams that should be taken very seriously. However, it's very difficult to tell how much to believe these reports because of how secretive gaming companies are. Also, a lot of places in the industry are just bad places to work and we simply never talk about it, crunch could affect some people worse than others. The only surefire way to judge a gaming company is through the works they release. More corporate reporting is needed to better understand how different companies treat employees.

What are you even talking about? First of all you must not be very particular if you think Monster Hunter is interchangeable with many other series. Second, that's a very logical-sounding case for illogical grudge-holding based on trying to divine the intention of buisness decisions involving plenty of unannounced games. And finally, Capcom is SO far from the only third party developer not supporting Switch during its launch year. Porting a so-far Japanese Monster Hunter game is more than most have done. This is just more internet forum drama.
The community was riled up after E3, but now I mostly see this kind of not so subtly emotionally-laced salt on Nintendo Life. Just stop. Don't buy some video games, okay, whatever, but it's really pathetic the myopic console war trash this community has come to.
@Tsurii Cross needed more work done because fourth generation's assets weren't originally created to be viewed on anything but a 3DS, whereas Wii games like Tri had substantially more detailed models. Stop misrepresenting my point as some trite gameplay vs graphics thing just so you can have a convenient strawman to yell at. I don't care about fidelity or texture quality much, I've never argued that the 3DS hurt the quality of Monster Hunter's combat. However, it's obvious to all of us that XX doesn't look as shiny as a Monster Hunter game built from the ground up on a current gen platform like Switch could.
Come September are we going to have to listen to @JaxonH talk about this game 24/7 lol??
If it doesn't ever get localized I will bite the bullet and get the Japanese version. I'll wait till early next year though as I have plenty to play till then.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
