Youre the first person that I know of who pisses and moans about using high rank armor and weapons on low rank stuff in a Monster Game.

If it bothers you that much then dont play it.

I on the other hand enjoy wearin high rank or even Grank armor and stronger better weapons that help kill a monster quicker.

Thats... kind of my whole point. It ruins the fun. Once you get accustomed to higher difficulty, it's not that fun to go back to way easier hunts. Even if you purposely gimp yourself with armor and weapons, the difficulty is still a problem.

Which again, that's why I prefer to finish Low Rank before moving on to High Rank. If you like to do it different, hey, more power to you. You do you.

I have an idea that would make the game as hard/easy as the players want.

I was thinking of Custom Quests.

For example, in the Gathering Hub there could be a person with the Custom Question functionality where you setup a custom quest.
A custom quest would be a quest/mission setup by the player with different parameters and goals, which could include:

  • All players must use the same weapon / no player can use the same weapon.
  • No armor can be used.
  • You must cut off a part of the monster to clear the mission.
  • You must take images/Pictures of certain elements in the game to clear the mission.
  • All monsters have HPx3.
  • Custom time limit.
  • Same armor must be used by all players.
  • No player can change weapons when quest have started.
  • Gathering missions where the dots on the map can be turned off, so the players need to find the gathering spots.
  • Large monsters will not show up on the map.
  • Choose monsters moveset (lowrank / highrank / potential g/master rank).
  • Other funny/great ideas.

I guess potentially it could be a “series of quests” like a custom mini campaign, like 5 or 10 quests in a row with a custom end goal, so that a group of friends could setup a little adventure for themselves.

(at least I would have very fun with it).

.....Or he could play it however he wants to play it? I'm doing the same thing, I don't want to go back to low rank even with stronger gear either.

Yeah I'm not sure why the aggression is needed here. So he wants to keep the sense of challenge. So what. He even said you do you, lol. You make it sound like he said his preference was superior and your opinion was stupid or something.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Did a couple of online Guild Hall/Gathering Hub 2 star Rampage quests.

I still dont quite get it the whole Rampage thing but its somewhat similar to how you had to protect the fort from giant long legged crab monsters in Freedom Unite and the Lao Shan Lungs.

One thing I like from the Rampage is you an stock up on more of monster materials though which is helpful when you need more materials to make a weapon or an armor piece

So a Pukei Pukei scroll just showed up in the Argosy for purchase, and when I checked my Hunter's Notes I noticed that both Pukei and Magnamalo, both of which I have farmed, have scrolls. They're both at over 10 kills. So I'm guessing after you kill 10 of a certain monster their scroll will become available. Which is cool.

Also @FattyWhale_42, I did two runs of the method for that second video, and now I'm sitting on around 945,000 zenny. So yeah thanks! Haha

You're the first person I've met that acts like a jackass over how someone else prefers to play their games.

if it bothers you that much then don't play it

I never said it bothered me that much. I said I'd rather play Low Rank first before moving on. And why would I "not play it" when I can just... ya know... do what I originally said and play it first.

I also didn't "piss and moan" about anything. I simply stated my preference, and explained why.

@Joeynator3000 oh yeah, I tried getting up there a while back, but I couldn't actually do so, due to there being an invisible wall put in place.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

VoidofLight

@Northwind Yeah, you can't run up that wall. I think it was last night when I tried it, and it forces you off automatically, even if you try using the wirebug again.

Joeynator3000

Yeah, apparently there's something up there because looking at the map, gathering spots. But, as far as I know there's not even any great wirebugs that'll get you up there. Maybe I have to try and get there from another direction?...I dunno, I give up, moving on. lol

Ralizah

@JaxonH Looking forward to working with you. I think my trajectory will be similar, albeit on a longer timescale: do all the village stuff, and then start working on guild/hub quests.

Although I think I'll be skipping the low level guild quests. At least for content that's identical to village quests.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

@Ralizah
Ya, there’s no reason to rush it. Just take your time and soak it up, play at your own pace, and when we get there, we get there. Low Rank is half the game, after all. Never understood my brother who has a habit of bum rushing the highest rank as fast as possible. Like, I get it to an extent because lower rank sets will inevitably be outclassed, so why invest a lot of time into sets that will be irrelevant anyways. But on the other hand, you don’t have to farm sets in LR to thoroughly enjoy the content and see everything that has to offer.

I don’t think there’s any duplicate quests in the Hub, but it does have you hunt the same monsters. But of course, so does high rank and master rank. They’ll be in different locals, sometimes with different objectives (although almost all are Hunt to kill quests) and different HP pools due to being Hub quests. Given the game revolves around hunting monsters over and over anyways, it really doesn’t bother me to hunt them one more time in Low Rank, especially since you’re unlikely to get all the Low Rank materials you’re going to need throughout the course of the game on a single run of each monster in the village. Plus, it’s fun experiencing them with others.

There’s a lot of weapons that depend on upgrades from versions crafted from LR mats, so I think it’s good to stock up a bit just in case. Nothing worse than having to go back to low rank down the line because you need mats. I remember doing that for Lagiacrus Shell Shockers in MH3U.

Just did my first 5 star quest with an "invading" monster or whatever...took about 20-ish minutes taking down Royal Ludroth while keeping a close eye on that ? lol....Does he just sleep the entire time or wake up at random?

I mean, the moment I killed my target monster he woke up just to leave the area, lol

I'm in rank 4 now still using long sword, I still want to get into charge blade but, bishitan Oh man I'm farming his armor set before I do any of the LR 4 monsters and I love fighting him, he is so much fun, bc every time I get hit I can feel like its my fault not the game, he give you many opening to attack as well, But that right there is why I love monster hunter, you never (Most of the time) feel like it is your fault, if you got hit by a tail or something I always think "Man I got a little to greedy with hits" or "I should have moved there" I love how I don't feel like the game is cheap and all the moves feel doable. that was one problem I had with the crossover monsters in world was they didn't feel like fun fights, or I know I didn't , they would always always have some dumb attack were you could move away unless you saw the move coming much much early'er. And another thing one of them you needed people to do it with you, I not sure if you can solo the W but you sure as hell could solo FF, I mean you know some people like to solo thing and not even that the thing was so damn annoying and wanted you to fight it like it was a ff game, So I wouldn't have beaten it till years later,

But back to the bishitan who is hella fun to fight, I'm not sure and I'm probably wrong but can you cut its tale off? I was looking in the hunters guide and I don't see anything telling me if I can break it or cut it off. Back to the fight again, the fight is amazing its one of the creative monsters so far, I mean I whole monster that fight with it tale, I bet he is going to be a pain in the ass in High rank.

Thank you if you took the time to read this bc its a lot.
