Ok so hear me out: I think MP4 is going to have... drumroll please... Portals. I don't know why, and I don't know how, but I think Metroid Prime 4 could feature portals, similar to the ones in the game series "Portal". Yes, yes, Metroid Prime 2 sort of has portals, but nothing on the level of the ones in Portals 1 and 2. They may not work in a game like Metroid Prime which has very specifically-designed rooms, but who knows? Maybe MP4 will be a game with a number of firsts for the series. Don't ask me why I think this, because I have no idea why. But if Retro Studios reveals that their latest game will have portals, well, you heard it here first.

It took them 5 years to teach Metroid how to crawl, that's why it's taking them so long.

Just hope there are not a million boss battles in it🤞

@Ninfan Not a fan of the boss battles, eh? They're actually one of my favorite things about any Metroid game.

@StarPoint I think they like them in America and Japan ( I still like to visit japan ) but its game play they go for here in Europe and Britain

@Ninfan I don't know, I think the series as a whole has always had a good balance of in depth exploration with scenic environments and memorable boss battles. I say memorable because a lot of the time I think boss battles can seem a bit too easy to figure out but I always remember the first time I beat them.

I can't say about the area differences but I'm UK based and when they announced the boss rush mode in dread I was excited to give it a go.

It said at the start of this thread that metroid 4 would be out in 2023, but playing metroid dread and how good it was, its strange they had to redo the game or make it from start. Metroid dread was brilliant so I can not see how 4 had to stall or make it better or new. Still I hope its out soon .

Hopefully Nintendo releases a Metroid Prime 4 gameplay trailer or something along those lines this year. I can't handle another 2-3 years with NOTHING.

Retro gaming is too damn expensive.

StarPoint

@SnackPop I genuinely think that this is the year where we finally get some MP4 news. It has been over 3 years since it was announced that it was restarted, and I think 3 years is enough time to at LEAST get a cinematic trailer or a title drop.

I'm not necessarily expecting gameplay, but I'm sure we're gonna see something this time around.

@Ninfan I think the problem was that MP4 was being made by a different studio entirely, Bandai Namco, whereas both MercurySteam and Retro Studios both had some Metroid experience under their belt. As far as I know, Namco has never helped in making a Metroid game before.

@Ninfan @SnackPop @StarPoint I think we get the Metroid Prime remaster announcement this year with a release this year but we won't hear anything about MP4 until E3 next year, I think it releases around October 2023...

Hurry up, 🙏😵‍💫. Please

Normally I'd be certain we would see it before the year is over, but considering the 15 year wait for Metroid Dread lead to it being properly announced like 4 months before release, who even knows

I am not too concerned about the longer wait for Metroid Prime 4 since I am just now currently playing through Metroid Prime Remastered for my first time and have never touched 2 or 3. Haven't played Metroid Dread yet either. I have plenty of new Metroid content to keep me busy for a long time until Metroid Prime 4 comes out.

My suspicion (to be clear, pure speculation pulled directly from my butt) is that Metroid Prime Remastered is a first step toward building hype for the new game. Sometime in the summer they will shadow drop remasters of MP2 and 3, along side an announcement trailer of MP4, which will be their big holiday release this year.
Not saying it will happen, but that's what I would do if I were making the calls.
