@Joeynator3000 I think the posted videos so far kinda speak for themselves right? It's 80 chaotic minigames, connected in one big game by a virtual board. Question is whether you're looking for a game like that or not. I preordered mine. I have two young cousins who'll probably love this; it's a good time waister for during the holidays.
My preorder will apparently be shipping tomorrow. Or at least I get the tracking info tomorrow. But I can't play till the game actually arrives since I bought a physical copy.
Well, we haven't actually seen all the mini-games I think. The videos tend to show the same ones repeatedly. So there might be boss mini-games. And considering motion controls appear to be a major part of the mini-games, portable mode could be too much of a pain. I mean, would you want to have to rotate the entire console in all directions and spin it around to play some of the mini-games? An action which, by the way, would prevent you from seeing what you're doing in-game.
I am hyped and waiting for this. I really want to play this with some friends Friday, but no-one seems available. I may have to bring the Switch and a few sixpacks to work for an after work session with some colleagues
The more I see, the more excited I get. In fact this game is seriously making me consider getting a second set of joy con. I may not have anyone locally to play 4 player games with, but when visiting my dad I may be able to get 2 more players. Maybe 3
Already pre-purchased, so the reviews won't sway me either way. But the reviews at the moment are really good for a Mario Party game. No Mario Party game has ever been a critical darling. They all tend to average around 7.0-7.5/10. And obviously something other games in the series average lower than that.
Before playing this one, I'm already hoping for a Super Mario Party 2. I want it to have Pro Controller Support, Handheld Mode Support, Online Play for Boards, more boards, up to 50 turns as an option, that's mostly it.

From the reviews, I get the understanding that it's a step in the right direction but is lacking in content (e.g. only 4 boards) so in a sense is pretty similar to Mario Tennis Aces.
Given ARMS, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Kirby Star Allies and Mario Tennis Aces went the free updates route to add extra content post-launch I have to wonder if Super Mario Party will join that list.
Given the fact that Mario Tennis Aces, Arms and other games have been getting DLC I would imagine Nintendo will be updating this title as well. Considering I don't own a Wii U anymore and our family has been missing us some Mario Party I am happy it's even here.

Despite the disappointing online mode, I'm still excited to try it out later tonight. After Mario Tennis ended up being surprisingly fun, I have more faith that they finally figured out how to make a decent Mario Party again
I was under the impression that people were considering the online mode 'lame' simply because it was "best of 5 rounds of mini-games" instead of an online play-through of the main game?
Speaking of which, can we get confirmation from someone who actually has the game now how many of the mini-games are available for online play?
I believe Nintendo is going to use the Splatoon 2 approach for this game. Every few months for a year, they'll release a new board and maybe some new or returning minigames and characters. I don't believe 4 boards is the final amount.
