Wasn't going to get this game but decided to sell my old copy for 20$ and with the 20% discount at Best Buy only ended up paying less then half of 60$. Really glad I did!
I'm really enjoying this game more then on the Wii U for whatever reason and I've yet to dive into battle mode. The game is silky smooth and looks great in either mode.
Is it just me or do the ink blots seem much worse then in the previous game? Ever since the Wii version they almost never bother me but on this game it seems to bother me more then not. I'm not complaining just seems like they improved it.
Finally. 2,000 coins in and I just unlocked the Blue Falcon.
All is well.

Heya,
Try searching 'Pigeon' on LINE, and you should see someone with a really disgruntled, ugly face staring at you.
My copy arrived yesterday. Love the battle mode stuff - not really played Battle Mode since the SNES days, so it really does add a massive amount of value to the game for me.
The first time I connected online, it took me to spectator mode and immediately hung, suffered a communication error and eventually booted me. Not a great start, and I got another one not long after, again happening as soon as I entered spectator mode, but once I settled in a for a spell of online play connection was fine. I imagine the comms stuff will probably get ironed out soon enough.
I love Toad's Turnpike for the full size car dodging, but in actuality it is just a figure 8 highway in a canyon floating in the middle of a boundless void with a city skybox even after the remaster.
I was only thinking last night... Toad's Turnpike is probably my least favourite track in the whole game, it's so dull

I thought so too, but I might just be out of practice and not remember the tracks quite as well? I dunno.
Well, my copy is on it's way. Along with the joycon wheel set. Anyone else here use them? I religiously used the Wii Wheel in both MK Wii and 8... until 8 150cc, for some reason. Maybe I wanted to just race normally once the item spam death began. First post-Double Dash Mario Kart where I didn't bother with 150cc. It just stopped being fun.
I used the wheel in MKWii, but with 8 I didn't want to bother with Wiimote batteries when I could just use the gamepad. I don't really care to go back now, especially since I play in handheld mode a lot.
Unrelated pro tip: since you seemingly have a sharply reduced chance of being given the same item you already have, you might want to hold onto that pesky coin so you're less likely to get another one from the next item box. A double item box renders this moot, of course, but there won't always be one; something I've noticed is that the first set of boxes in a course typically doesn't have a double.
Also, I don't necessarily expect anyone to care, but I recently opened a Twitter account for Switch purposes and have been posting screens of this game. You can have a look via the link in my sig. Would rather be posting on Miiverse, mind you...

Haven't gone back to MK8 to check, but my first thoughts are that MK8D has more variation in blot amounts. I've just had a quick spin on an MK8D cup and over just a few races I got a single blot, a double blot, and a triple blot. I don't remember noticing that variation on Wii U.
Single blots leave most of the screen clear, double is about standard, and triple is a bit worse than the MK8 version, IMO.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I've bene playing for almost a week and only just remembered that Excitebike was randomly generated. I've raced the track like ten times. I heard about it back when the DLC was detailed, it just blends together 'cause the track is so forgettable and dirt-brown.
@Haru17 Is it though? I remember reading it would be randomly generated when it was first announced, but I've honestly never noticed any difference each time I play. I never look forward to that track, though it does tend to result in some entertaining races.

Finally finished getting 3 stars in every single cup. Got gold mario and the gold kart. Is there a gold glider and gold wheels? And if so, how do I get them?

I take the same route every time and I've not noticed one difference. Maybe I just don't play it enough but all the hills seem to be there. Maybe the mud is different but not the hills.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@gcunit Yeah, I should have probably just checked google. That idea honestly flew right pass me XD. Thank you!

@gcunit It is. There are several sections that can be swapped out and changed at random. I believe the track is divided in four sections; the start/finish part is always the first, the second quarter right after the start, and on your way back there's the third and fourth quarter of the track. The lay-out itself is pretty boring, but the amount of possible configurations made it at least memorable.
Well it's either randomly generated or so forgettable that it fooled me.
I think they take a few chunks of jumps and switch them around with each other. I've never noticed the mud puddles changing places except as part of a chunk, though.
@Haru17 The corners never change iirc. Just the straight sections, each divided into two parts. I also believe that the section with the start/finish line never changes either, so it's just the remaining three sections that get swapped out every time.

Toad's Turnpike is one of my least favorite tracks, as well. I'm also not a fan of Water Park for the same reason.
I'm usually the only one in an online lobby that is using motion controls, so I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one still using them!
I've used motion controls since Mario Kart Wii, and have always used the wheel. This time though, I'm using a joy-con grip instead.
It took a while to get used to drifting with the ZR button; I'm so used to drifting with the B button from Mario Kart Wii and 8 that I keep wanting to use ZL instead! XD
Still love the game, though! I've played MK8 for hundreds of hours, and I intend to do the same with Deluxe.
@gcunit@Haru17 As a fan of the original Excite Bike I resent these comments of generic maps. It's still more interesting than any ACTUAL EB map I ever made
