@Fizza At least with Pokemon there's a release date so you know news has to come somewhat soon (the game launches in less than 4 months). The 6 waves of MK8 Deluxe DLC clearly aren't being spread out evenly now so extremes may happen like a September general Direct could start with wave 2 and near the end announce wave 3 like they did with Hero and Banjo for Smash at E3 2019.
So that's why Ninja Hideaway didn't say "Tour" ingame, they're counting all the non-city Tour tracks as brand new (as shown by the ice cream course). As for the tracks as a whole, a good bunch of courses though I am disappointed there's no GCN tracks. Most excited for GBA Snow Land.
Ok, so Sky-High Sundae looks absolutely fantastic, Kalimari Desert seems very faithful to the original without over-brightening it, Mario Circuit 3 looks very... Mario Circuit 3-esque, Mushroom Gorge looks a lot more colorful compared to the base track, Sydney Sprint looks SUPER detailed compared to the first wave of Tour tracks, Waluigi Pinball looks excellent with all of its Neon Lights (though I wonder if they'll reuse the song from Wario Stadium?), Snow Land looks like it could be cool, but they only showed it for like 5 seconds, and, once again, New York Minute seems to be a lot more detailed than the first wave was.
Overall this is a great selection of tracks for me. I cannot wait for Kalimari Desert and Mushroom Gorge specifically. Also, I love how Nintendo abandoned all logic and decided to announce this a day before Xenoblade 3 drops. At least it's only coming out in a week.

Sky Garden can feel a bit wonky at times with when you can or can't trick off of things but other than that it's very cool. I love how it spirals upwards before culminating in gliding back down to the start, that bit is really good. Other than that though, the fact that there's bouncing mushrooms makes me convinced Mushroom Gorge is coming back as well so it gets bonus points for that.
I F******* CALLED IT BACK WHEN THE FIRST WAVE CAME OUT IN MARCH LET'S GOOOOOOOO!
I saw a few people talking about how there have been modest visual improvements from Wave 1. Maybe it's just me but some courses seem more upgraded than others (e.g. Kalimari compared to Sydney). And what do you think the possibility of Wave 1 receiving a visual patch is?
(zero but it's a nice thought)
@chapu2006 Or, in a squeeze, they put out the easiest group of tracks to produce first. I don't see nintendo coming back to upgrade them. Wave 1 Paris track has a rich environment, but the summertime haze color palette washes things out more rather than making them pop. Wave 2 certainly has a lot of pop to it's visuals.
Conversely, if later waves were less impressive than previous waves, we'd complain more. XD I think MK8's tracks already had varying degrees of impressiveness.
I was thinking Nintendo did really wrong with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by adding DLC when the game was already 5 years old since launch day.
Don't get me wrong, those additional things are nice but the way of Nintendo did on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe this time was not really right approach. 🤔
Can you imagine if this game get an ultimate release with all 48 DLC inside cartridge to preserve the game in the future with price tag $60 + $25 = $85 ?
That was pretty expensive.
It will be really inflated if buy that game late.
While the addition things are nice, it left me a bad perception to see this approach from Nintendo and it made me thinking about getting the 3rd party games with better treatments and offering something different that Nintendo still refuse to do.
@Anti-Matter If they offered a new cart with all the dlc tracks, I think I'd have to buy it? Although, with 340 hours in MK8, I'm pretty tired of the game, maybe I'd skip it. Nintendo STILL hasn't released BOTW & Splatoon 2 carts with all dlc for english. (they did for japanese only) In fact, have any Nintendo game carts been updated to include dlc for the Switch generation? I have a feeling we may not get physical versions with dlc included this console generation.
@Anti-Matter I think these courses were Nintendo's way of saying "Mario Kart 9 isn't coming anytime soon, so here's some more content to hold you over." $25 is actually a really good price considering the amount of content you get. I do wonder if Nintendo would do an ultimate collection in the future, but I could see that being more around $70-$75 instead of $85, especially considering how old the base game is at this point.
And what do you mean by Nintendo refusing to do things that other companies do?

@StarPoint
I have some experiences from other kart racing game Modnation Racers PS3 that personally I thought that game have hidden gem quality, from the complex customization of your character, your vehicle, the custom racing track with a lot of stuffs to put, yet these features never got great reaction from gamers who have more interest with Mario Kart games than 3rd party kart racing games. I already smelled a bias from those gamers who refuse to accept different things as complementary.
Yet current Mario Kart games still don't have very specific customization in character and vehicles in The Sims level.
I can hear some comments toward of those features like "Oh, we don't need complex customization for Mario Kart games. Mario Kart games is about simplicity. We don't need the stuffs from 3rd party games."
That was something that bothering me to hear comments like that.
