If it does release late today/early tomorrow then if you take the same gap between waves 2 and 3 then wave 3 would release around the same time as the Game Awards. Imagine that, after waiting 4 months of silence having to put all hope in 3 hours of that to get a wave 3 trailer.

Surely Nintendo would prefer to announce Wave 2 AFTER XC3 has released, so as to not draw attention away from either release?

Hope you're having a good day.

Don't try to apply logic to Nintendo's decisions. Most of what they do these days is just completely random and inconsistent. As an example they could've easily done another direct with all the information that's came out the past week but for no apparent reason they decided to go back to separate announcements out of the blue on twitter. Love their games but as a company Nintendo baffles me for so many reasons...

@PikaPhantom What region? Because on US site it was 744 MB until yesterday afternoon and then popped up to 2 GB. Unless there was some sort of bug if you already own the dlc or something? 🤔

Edit: Used the time traveling web app and sure enough it does say it's been 2 GB all along even though it wasn't whenever I looked. Must've actually been a bug that triggered if you owned the dlc and viewed that page while logged into your Nintendo account lol. 😂

Reminder of the current track balance:

  • SNES - 2 (Donut Plains 3, Rainbow Road)
  • N64 - 5 (Toad's Turnpike, Choco Mountain, Royal Raceway, Yoshi Valley, Rainbow Road)
  • GBA - 4 (Mario Circuit, Cheese Land, Sky Garden, Ribbon Road)
  • GCN - 4 (Baby Park, Dry Dry Desert, Sherbet Land, Yoshi Circuit)
  • DS - 4 (Cheep Cheep Beach, Shroom Ridge, Tick Tock Clock, Wario Stadium)
  • Wii - 4 (Moo Moo Meadows, Coconut Mall, Wario's Gold Mine, Grumble Volcano)
  • 3DS - 5 (Toad Circuit, Melody Motorway/Music Park, Piranha Plant Pipeway/Slide, Koopa/Neo Bowser City, DK Jungle)
  • Tour - 3 (Paris Promenade, Tokyo Blur, Ninja Hideaway)

So if wave 2 acts to balance the tracks, we'd get 2 SNES, 1 GBA, 1 GCN, 1 DS, 1 Wii, 2 Tour). That said, given how Tour has almost the entirety of MK7 I can't see them skipping MK7 with any of the waves.

@Grumblevolcano I haven't played Tour myself so I don't know how suped up they might be in that game, but the prospect of having SNES era tracks come back doesn't really excite me unless they do something really cool with them like they did for GBA Mario Circuit. Also, in relation to that potential Wii track, I am convinced they will add Mushroom Gorge down the line between it being one of the most recently added Tour tracks AND the fact that bouncing mushrooms (Gorge's main gimmick) are now officially in MK8 through Sky Garden. I loved playing on it back in the Wii days so I'd love for them to bring it back, even if only for the inevitable remix that'll come with it.

There’s a stage I have in mind but I just can’t remember the name. The state had like a mud trail, and it had dinosaurs I think, it was a stage that was in MK 7.

Do you guys also think we can get more crossover stages?

Cannot imagine if Nintendo will eventually release a full package of Mario Kart 8 Hyper Deluxe with All DLC inside the cartridge and the price = $60 + $25 = $85. 🙄
Wow, what a price...

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

D-Star92

@Snatcher That was Dino Dino Jungle. It actually made its debut in Double Dash, and became a retro course in 7.

Thank you@MarioLover92. That’s the stage I want in one of the waves, it’s one of my favorite stages! I would also kill for
3ds rainbow road, but we are probably not getting anymore rainbow roads, though a whole wave with all the rainbow roads sounds nice, but probably wouldn’t be well received. (Double dash rainbow road too please!)

Updates associated with maintenance usually come at the beginning of maintenance so I'm leaning towards this being just normal maintenance.

@Snatcher You're welcome. Yeah it's a cool course for sure! I wouldn't mind seeing Wario Colosseum make a return, either. They're probably gonna have a Rainbow Road or two for the BCP - when MK8 came out on Wii U, one of its DLC courses was SNES Rainbow Road.

Yep, came and went with no Wave 2.. Can't say I'm surprised. Looks like we are waiting clear till August now. That is one disgustingly huge gap between releases. The optimist in me wants to believe this long, long wait is because they are also going to patch in graphical improvements to Wave 1 and that increased the development time, but this is Nintendo. About a 1% chance they would actually do something like that.

We're now officially past the completely equally spaced window. If all 6 waves were equally spaced with wave 1 releasing March 18th 2022 and wave 6 releasing December 31st 2022, the waves would've released:

  • Wave 1 - March 18th 2022
  • Wave 2 - July 27th 2022
  • Wave 3 - December 5th 2022
  • Wave 4 - April 14th 2023
  • Wave 5 - August 22nd 2023
  • Wave 6 - December 31st 2023

Of course wave 6 releasing on December 31st 2023 is completely unrealistic given it's a Sunday but this is looking at a theoretical longest equally spaced gap between waves while all 6 waves still appear by the end of 2023.
