@Anti-Matter nope, when the battery dies you have to buy a new Kart.

I don't think Nintendo will be so stupid to make the RC car completely unplayable when it runs out its battery life.
I think we will see a battery slot and we can replace it with standard AA batteries.

It looks pretty cool, not gonna lie. But just like Nintendo Labo it won't quite be my cup of tea as I probably won't use it as much. I'll stick with 8 Deluxe for the time being.

So the big question, will this overtake Mario Kart 8 as the best selling game on the Switch! ;p

The other neat part about this is being able to take it anywhere you'd take your Switch online.

@jump Thanks. Am interested, but I think I'm gonna wait until I know a bit more, maybe wait for reviews.

I'm really curious to see how the track is made for this, and how the Switch, or the kart camera, maps the 3d area of the room. I'm guessing, maybe they're using tech from automated driving cars? Although, doesn't that use lidar? I'm thinking lidar is too expensive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidar So, maybe it's just an AI algorithm that can map a 3d space from photos or video?

Has anyone seen any clips of drift boosting in Mario Kart Live? I haven't seen it anywhere, or maybe I am missing it.

I don't if someone has done this yet but here is a quick FAQ about Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.

Can I use it on Carpet?
Yes, any short carpet is fine.

Can I use it on ramps?
So far it seems if they car's front hits anything the kart immediately stops. Some say they can do ramps, some don't. However the car is not designed for it and Nintendo warns not to do it.

Can I play outside?
Technically yes. However the car is small and very low to the ground. It is NOT recommend.

Do I need good internet?
No. The Car wirelessly connects to the Nintendo Switch directly (not through your home router) and your Nintendo Switch's internet connection will cease. The Switch's wireless antennae will be dedicated to Home Circuit.

How far can I be from the switch?
As far as I have observed in a newer UK home is the same room. If you leave the room or go too far away the signal to the switch because very weak and the picture starts buffering and stuttering. Think of it like using the Wii U Gamepad away from the Wii U.

Do I need to use any or all of the gates?
Yes for races. In order to race the game requires you to create a course. You do so by using all four gates facing the correct way (number side facing your kart). You then must drive through completing a circuit in any pattern you like and the game will remember it for that session. If you quit the game out you will need to redo the track creation.

For freeroam mode the kart can drive without the gates and just act like an RC car with a camera on it.

How much space do I need?
The gates themselves are fairly big, about the length of a typical doorway. You need a good amount of space to play. In order to reasonably control the kart and do races at higher CC is recommend you have a large room to play it. If your in a small flat this probably isn't the game for you.

What do I need to play?
Each real world player needs a Nintendo Switch or Switch Lite. The software downloaded from the eShop (free) and a Kart bundle (£100 each). You can have up to four players in race plus the koopalings are AR racers.

Can I use Labo Driving Kit or Racing wheel with this?
No to Labo and Yes. The Hori Mario Kart Racing Wheel Pro Deluxe does actually work with Live Home Circuit!

What can I do in single player?
Single player plays very similar to other Mario Kart games. Your opponents are bowser jr and the koopalings. They are totally AI and the game does not work online. The courses once made are overlayed with mario kart items like item boxes and track hazards. Often times while just paying attention to the game I forgot I was racing a real car.

The rewards for picking up coins in the races are unlocks which are presented very similar to Mario Kart Tour in that you see your progress towards a present. Once unlocked you get a series of Karts, wheels and Mario/Luigi skins. Also you can unlock gate themes which create hazards or pickups. There is also environmental effects which acts like a filter on the game for things like wind storms and underwater.

And that is all I have for now. I am enjoying the game and live in a modest size house.

Played this for about 2 hours last night. It's fantastic. And it's so quick to setup i can definitely see me using this frequently. Creating a course is quick and easy so changing things up is not a chore between races.
Only lost connection once during gameplay and that was when I was creating a fairly ambitious track that went from living room to kitchen then down hallway and back to living room. It only lost connection once and I was able to create and race that track at second attempt. Impressive.
There's minor buffering at times when you get too far from the console. But not enough to affect gameplay.

I haven’t bought this game. It’s a special type of game some will get more out of than others, and I don’t have the space or the willpower to set up courses to play.

That said, I’m completely enamored with Mario Kart Live. One of the coolest ideas I’ve seen in all of video games to date (and LABO VR, which was actually worth it just for the blaster game alone). If I were a kid I’d be all over this thing. Man... kids these days have it so good. When I was growing up they didn’t even have Mega Man toys, which was my #1 most desired gift throughout most of grade school.

I love watching videos of people’s cats being chased by the car lol.

The nintendo life review said the car can run into things and you have to get up and put what ever it is you ran into back in place. this does'nt sound great.

I´m hoping to get this for Christmas. My house isn´t too big but I could totally see myself making a giant track going from room to room. If ramps work, though, this game would be literally the best game ever.

We need a Mario + Rabbids sequel! And an Odyssey one too!

@Ninfan Not completely true. I constantly bash into obstacles I've left at the edge of track for decoration. I just reverse and carry on. The object might end up being an obstruction on the next lap depending on how you hit it, but that just adds to the fun.
If you hit and move a gate, that can mess up with games memory of how the track should be laid out. So it's best to have the gates weighted down with a heavy-ish object.

I'm intrigued about this as I may ask my wife for it for Christmas, but would like to know if anyone cam confirm for me; if I'm playing in free roam mode, and not using the cardboard gates or whatever, just fancy a speed round my lounge with the car and not actually race............does all the games AI like the Koopalings, plants, shells etc still show up on the screen, or will it just be stuff that's on my lounge floor that the camera is filming?
