Topic: Games you don't want to see

We all like to talk about games we want to see on the Switch (when we're allowed to talk about them). What are the ones that shouldn't even bother waisting time on? Seems like we're getting a handful of last gen ports left and right. Which isn't bad in some cases. Some games come out and you wonder how the developer even thought they would sell enough to come close to breaking even. Did anyone buy Just Dance?

They wouldn't keep releasing Just Dance games if they weren't selling.

@Dan0753 My niece and nephew bought just dance for their switch. It's a blast playing it and it's a lot of fun! So there's one sale!

@Eric258 I saw there is a demo for it and kinda thought about giving it a try for the heck of it. Maybe it wasn't the best example. I thought it was something from the Wii generation that would have died off by now. Ubisoft makes a ton of other games you'd think would be coming out. Have to save that discussion for somewhere else.

Aside from shovelware indie games, there isn't much I would veto on the Switch. I may grumble a little if I'm out of things to play but in general I am accepting. I'm an advocate of more games for everyone and if a game isn't my style that doesn't mean it doesn't have an audience. Perhaps by the time I'm 90 gaming culture will feel the same. I will say I am beside myself with glee that
Ginsei Shogi: Kyoutendo Toufuu Raijin went to the switch. It is a shogi game (Japanese Chess) that I'd meant to buy on wiiu...getting on switch instead! W00T!

I'm kinda the same with some of the indie games. Like some of the obscure Wii games they had. The ones you see in a $5 bin a Big Lots. At least with these they do t have too much of a production cost. Just using bandwidth lol

This summarizes how I feel quite well. Barring a few infamous indie developers (like RCMADIAX or Skunk Software) and shovelware, I'm not too picky about which games show up. I may only play or be interested in a fraction of those games, but more games/variety = a stronger, more appealing platform for developers and consumers.

Really the only big company I could do without is EA (or rather, their development team. Publishing is fine), but that would be a dumb move on Nintendo's part not to have their games since the majority of the gaming population seems to enjoy their software.

Welcome back, @Ryu_Niiyama!

@Tyranexx Haha, thank you. (Had no clue anybody noticed I was gone, lol I know I left that little blurb in the powder keg I lit...which I'll return to tomorrow... but I didn't think anybody actually read it!) Anyway, I have never understood the gatekeeping that happens in gaming. Short of a game that has poor technical design or is a stolen idea (hence my disdain of indie shovelware) I don't see an issue with most games so long as they pass the ERSB. So many odd ideas have produced great games. Want to be a surgeon? Trauma Center. Lawyer? AA. Games are about becoming something else. Why limit what someone else can do in their pixel funhouse?

Bit of a vague question, lets say develop A makes a game you dont like instead of the one you do, than yes that would be wasting time on the game you didnt want instead of the one you did, but with so many developers and studios how can you discuss which games are wasting the time need to make other games?

Everyone has their tastes of games and it differs from others. But there's some where you wonder why they even bothered.

I can't even begin to explain how ridiculously stupid and wrong this statement is.

Well, one is a game where recognizable characters got pasted over a different game with similar mechanics to make it easier to sell.

The other one is a game made for the series, where they changed most of the mechanics and removed the few recognizable characters the series had.

You know, same thing.

It doesn't bother me if they release something I don't like. I'll just not buy that thing. And anyways, there are things I might not be into at all that other people will absolutely love. You can whine all I want about games like Just Dance but for some people that's the game they'll buy the system for. The more people who buy the system? The more time/money is going to be put into developing content for that system.

On the chance that you're not already aware of this; it's not always as simple as that. If buyers unluckily invest in a string of poorly made titles, their faith in the system could quickly die resulting in a large part of the install base abandoning the console completely, and even Nintendo as a franchise. Though I honestly don't know if the Just Dance franchise could be categorised as one of those poor products.

As previously mentioned; shovalware titles. A console needs a good variety of games, but too many low quality titles can equally kill off a system (as was the case with the original Wii) or even the entire industry, as was seen in the 1980's America.

I know quality is subjective, but as some mention, there are some really poor games that are clearly made to profit from uninformed buyers.

I don't want to see any Paper Mario, Metroid, or Luigi's Mansion sequels that aren't made with the same ethos those series were on the GCN and Wii.

I don't want to see a Mario Maker port unless it removes the limitations surrounding water, game theme-restricted pieces (why?), level size and shape, and all of the cool moving parts from NSMB that went ignored. I also don't want to see the Wii U 2D platformers generally.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.
