@JaxonH The same dataminer suggested there's evidence of an even harder difficulty mode called "infernal." I think that'll be your "near impossible" difficulty.

I like everything I've heard about Lunatic so far. Seems like they made changes that'll require a smarter tactical approach versus just giving the enemies huge stat boosts and making them a pain to fight.

It’s gonna mean taking on boss characters you normally wouldn’t (how on earth can one beat the Death Knight in chapter 6? If he just has a large range and will attack you if you step in that range, that’s one thing, but if he actively hunts you down I don’t see how I’m going to beat it, especially with buffed stats and skills on top of it).

And if boss characters do Hunt you down that means you will be killing them sooner than normal, which for Kill enemy commander maps will mean less experience gained, making the game even harder.

Poison on arrows means lots of anti-toxin and more used vulneraries/concoctions, costing more money, which means less money to spend on more powerful weapons and upgrades, making the game even harder.

And with thieves able to pass through you they will be able to rob chests more easily, taking items you would have otherwise received, making the game even harder.

I only hope bosses don’t actively chase you down, because if that’s the case I’ll never get past chapter 6. But if they just receive a large range and will attack if you step in that large range, that would be perfect.

@Tsurii lol I had $30,000+ going into the time skip. Although I blew most of it buying Master Seals and stat boosting items from Anna this morning. I also have huge stock piles of silver weapons and vulneraries.

Also, I had a middle school teacher just like Manuela. The stereotype is real.

@JaxonH I'm sure, like pretty much every other enemy in the game, they activate when you get within a certain range of them.

@Tsurii What systems? Pretty much everything in the monastery costs time and little else.

Are you catching fish on days when there's fishing events (some fish give you between $500 - 1500 a pop)? Making sure to sell any gold you collect? Competing in competitions?

@Tsurii Good God, how did you manage to boost your prof level so quickly? I'm apparently a good sight ahead of you in the story and I just hit A rank!

For supports, I like to spam gifts, lost items, and, eventually, tea parties. I use the cafeteria only when I need to raise the motivation of my students.

@Tsurii Ah, so you're in your second playthrough already. I missed that.

I’m still B+ professor level in chapter 17 or 18.

And broke. Like 600G broke. Bought like 7 master seals. And accessories, and stat items from Anna. Every time I get money there’s something I need. And I sell everything worth 100G or more. Fish, tea, meat, extra weapons, you name it.

Granted, I have tons of forged weapons, and specialty weapons like Brave and Killer (and Killer+). And top notch accessories for everyone and cleaned house with Anna for the stat boost items.

Haven't picked it up yet (time and money are short this month!) but looking forward to catching up with y'all soon. This game sounds really good.

“Why do you speak of certain reversals—machinery connected wrong, for instance, as being ‘ass backwards’? I can’t understand that. Ass usually is backwards, right? You ought to be saying ‘ass forwards,’ if backwards is what you mean."

Managed to get ~30 hours in without spoiling myself and/or talking much about the game so far.

Spoilers for ~Chapter 15, black eagle route below.

Man, I was not prepared for the game to change in tone so much. I knew there would be conflict - but I wasn't prepared for the stakes of it. Having grown with the students at the monastery (over 20 hours of my time and what could have believably been a year in-game)...to be betrayed by Edelgard was unexpected and heartbreaking. I'm quite happy I didn't take the opportunity to go down her path, but I'm sure things aren't quite all they seem so far. It makes me wonder how many paths there could be in this game...maybe 6 with a choice to side with house or monastery in each?

Also did anyone else manage to completely avoid recruiting anyone from the other houses? I would check with them all the time pre-time skip to see if they would join...but alas, no success. My mistake was failing to specialise in any particular stat on Byleth. I always assumed that I'd have a lot more time, and was really bummed out when I had to kill Ashe in Chapter 15. Makes the whole plot twist all the more unsettling...I hope I don't have many more of these encounters.

Honestly, the scope of this game is simply mindblowing. I'm constantly blown away by the depth of the characters, story, and gameplay - this is a true evolution for the series.

I think focusing on a skill is the worst way to recruit. Unless it’s a skill you’re focusing on anyways.

Better to shove gifts down their throat til they choke. You get a heart for any gift you give to someone regardless of whether it’s something they specifically like or not. So if you have your eyes set on somebody just shower them with gifts until you hit support rank B. Easy way.

Also, did you keep a separate save file up until the choice? That way when you’re done you can load the save file and go the other route...

Also if you have so many money to save up for baits, use them all during Fistful of Fish event at December event. That day you get around 2-5 fish per bait depending on how good you did the fishing timing minigame.

I got around 11k+ professor exp too, and so reached A+ professor rank before timeskip. I think I did around... 30x 1 star bait, 30x 2 star bait, 50x 3 star bait, 25x 4 star bait and 25x 5 star bait.

@JaxonH Honestly, killer weapons are so good. That high probability of getting a critical beats out the relatively modest additional damage output you get from silver weapons. Sometimes they're even preferable to legendary weapons.

Phew, just cleared that paralogue I mentioned earlier. Turns out, even if you haul butt toward the exit, the reinforcements still come out and you still have to kill everyone. So I cleared out the Eastern portion of the map and just toughed it out from there. The pegasus knights made it a real challenge, as they're very strong and liked homing in on my weak units that I was trying to level up.

Probably the toughest level in the game for me so far;

@JaxonH Ah, good advice. I thought that might be the case but the in-game text seemed to put more emphaiss on stats than anything.

I only created a second save file at the choice...so a little too late. Plus I'm more motivated right now to continue the story than to go back and make any changes. It's looking quite likely I'll play New Game+, so I can use that to learn from my mistakes.

@Ralizah Well done! This was honestly the most difficult mission for me and I've been playing on Normal. Really threw me off.

@Buizel Thanks! Yeah, the reinforcements in this level were just brutal. It wouldn't be too bad if you didn't have to defend that Southeastern exit, but considering the reinforcements show up close enough to take it in a few turns, you're kind of forced to ignore that Western portion of the map, which are fewer trees to hide in anyway.

Now it's onto the "Valley of Torment," which sounds like a bustling party spot.

Does the game tell you beforehand where the reinforcements will spawn?

I saw a tip online that battalions are one of the only things that transfer over to a new game. If you buy up as many as you can before completing a playthrough, you could sell them off in your new game to make some quick cash to begin.

I also love that in NG+ the Amiibo Gazebo also transports you to the holy tomb to collect more items. I've gotten really great accessories and seals down there.

@Spanjard Most of the time the game does not. I see how some people find that annoying. But I haven't lost a unit because of it.

My main gripe with this game is definitely weapon durability. I don't feel prepared when a weapon has around 10 uses left so I'm repairing all the time, which is hella expensive.

A piece of the Triforce appeared before you! (>'.')> Touch it now!

CroRock

Anyone knows is there a benefit focusing on just one skill in “Goals” submenu?

Dorothea asked me if she can “focus on the reason skill to excel as a Warlock”.
I said yes and now she focus just on reason instead on Sword & Reason skills.

Maybe it grows faster that way. Can anybody confirm?

@CroRock Yes, the game actually writes you get 1.5x exp by focusing on one skill. (This is seen in the Goals tab iirc)
