Topic: Fire Emblem: Three Houses

The thing that annoyed me the most is that I only had to give Rhea ONE more gift. I checked it on an older save file T_T I considered doing the mission and paralogue battles again to undo it... But meh, I'll save Rhea for my Blue Lions playthrough.

I have everyone besides Caspar and Sylvain. I think it's a missed opportunity that they didn't make a cutscene where the other housleaders/teachers come to complain about you stealing all their students.

Well, between splitting up my XP pretty evenly between a huge crew (all my House peeps + 6 recruits) and playing on Hard difficulty... I think the game finally became hard. The battles immediately before and after the time skip were both a really decent challenge, and recalled FE7/Conquest more than my time with Awakening/Birthright. I'm very satisfied with the difficulty curve now.

This game is sort of what I was looking for when a FE x SMT crossover was announced. Difficult and very morally grey scenarios, characters representing differing ideologies, character and monster designs reminiscent of dark fantasy media like Berserk... they really outdid themselves here.

Also, I really love how much the paralogues flesh out the character relationships in this universe. The way Lorenz, Ignatz, and Raphael's families are connected is deeply sad, and the revelation plays REALLY well off of what you find out about them via support conversations.

That’s... a really good question, actually. Until you mentioned it I thought nothing of it. But now that you bring it up, that is really weird. Huh.

@Ralizah This is just a theory but: I think it has to do with her special blood, I suspect her family on her mother's side, ages slower. And I don't think she's the only one.

@Heavyarms55 @JaxonH Well, I hope they officially address it at some point in the game, because it's a very weird inconsistency.

I gotta say, this post-time skip world is giving me big FFVI vibes. Another game where pretty much everything goes to hell halfway through. And the music that plays as you explore the monastery now is just flat out gorgeous.

I really wish Nintendo would either offer some legal means of accessing the OST or stop taking the tracks down from youtube. I'd love to go online and listen to some of these tracks again.

Oh my gosh, YES. The OST. Where is it? Usually they sell the soundtrack for each game, yet with Three Houses... nothing. What gives? The music is exceptional. I need the soundtrack.

I found a download for the entire thing, which I’ll get on ASAP, but that’s just a stop gap until they sell the official version. They have to sell an official version... right? No way they would let such an amazing soundtrack go to waste. That’s what I keep telling myself, anyways.

@JaxonH Yeah, I just found a place to d/l it as well. Not my preference, but, as they say, piracy is a service problem. If they put the music on Google Play or Amazon Music or something I'll gladly buy it. A disc would be even better if I don't have to pay $100 to import it from Japan.

@Ralizah They usually release a CD collection a few weeks after the game comes out. I don't see one listed, not on Amazon Japan anyway, yet. But I am sure it will happen. I have the Awakening one, and I know there have been releases for other games in the series.

@Heavyarms55 Yeah, I'm expecting a Japanese CD release. What I want is either a Western CD release or, if nothing else, a digital version of the OST on services like Google Play or Amazon. Nintendo needs to get with the times.

@Ralizah Pretty sure Nintendo doesn't think a western release is worth it. And honestly I am not sure I disagree. From what many of my stateside friends tell me, most people stream music these days. From the sound of it, less and less people are buying music, digital, CD or otherwise. And I doubt there is a Spotify service playing game music - though having never used any of those services, I wouldn't know.

I think big 7 disc CD releases are more a collector item for the core fans who love the music than mass appeal CDs. Press discs in lower volume like a special edition and it should be fine (especially for the price they sell for).

I have the full, complete Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Awakening and Fates soundtracks, and a ton of included soundtrack discs with the collector editions. Three Houses should have a sprawling OST to proudly sit alongside them

I'm playing 1-3 hours everyday but I feel like I'm still taking it quite slowly compared to lot of other people. I'm in Chapter 10 now. Most battles take me quite a long time so I was surprised to see the battle in Chapter 9 only take 4 turns.

Still really enjoying the game. There's one minor thing that annoys me at times though. Having to press a button multiple times to skip text when you want to speak to someone again while exploring. I wish they either had a button to skip all text at once or another button dedicated to bringing up the menu with different interactions.

I would hold out hope for an official OST release. Xenoblade 2's OST wasn't released on iTunes/Google Play until SIX MONTHS later. And that thing costs 40 bucks, but considering that's comprised of over 120 songs that's easily worth it.

@EvilLucario Oh. Thanks. Would've never thought of pressing +. I'm pretty sure I've tried all the other buttons except plus and minus. Knowing me, it probably also shows the button command on screen and I've just not noticed.

Though now that I think about it, its like duh, of course you can press + to skip it, just like almost every other game.

And I didn't know Xenoblade 2 soundtrack was for sale digitally either. Probably gonna buy it.

I haven't even reached timeskip yet for my Black Eagle run, but I'm curious- what do you guys think of Edelgard?

Most of my friends have all been saying that Edelgard sucks, and while I can see some of that, I really can't see her being that bad, and so far in my interaction with her, she's not that bad.

Ambitious and willing to do a lot of things for her ambition sure, but that's not super bad as far as I'm concerned.

@darkfenrir How far along are you in the game, if you don't mind me asking?

@Ralizah Just finished the Sealed Forest mission, and picked my choice to throw myself to BE route completely. (Put a save there so I can just reload it back to this choice if I'm lazy to do NG+ for the secret route though)
