@Spoony_Tech PS3 is their ''worst'' selling console, and during its first year or so, the 360 was ahead of the PS3 (relatively speaking, since the 360 launched in 2005). And wasn't it like $499 at launch too? And $599 for 60GB edition IIRC.
Played this morning before work and it looks great on the small screen, very fast and fluid just as I remember. Had a quick go on my 4K TV which I played the PS4 version on and was pleasantly surprised to see that it looks good on the big screen too. Yes it's a bit blurrier especially for enemies at distance but this is a game that you'll be getting up close and personal with them and it holds up very well and on a HD display it may be a bit better. What we have is one of the best looking Switch games out there and if you're not going straight between versions of the game you're not going to think about the resolution and framerate. Some very good customisable options for stick sensitivity and moving the gun to the centre of the screen like classic Doom and the game is just as fast as I remember and a great addition to my library
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.

So, bout to leave for work but played some DOOM quick. So ok.
On TV, it looks surprisingly competent. It's really just the 720p resolution that holds it back a bit, but my 4K TV upscales and honestly it looks pretty good when everything is said and done. I've got no issues with how it looks on TV as a Switch game.
On the handheld it's a little bit of a different story. You can definitely notice the hit it takes. It uses some weird technique where anything close to you is full 720p, but anything half the room away or more starts to drop resolution.
My honest feelings are... no it doesn't look quite as sharp as other Switch games. That's just what it is. But it looks good enough to play and certainly looks better than anything we ever saw on Vita. And oh my goodness is it fun. I actually tried the team deathmatch with bots and I just couldn't put it down. Then I started the campaign and I'm like crap I've got to go to work now!
So basically both the TV and a handheld are a little lower resolution then other Switch games. That's evidently the price paid for this game on the go. But it's by far the best FPS I've ever played on a handheld. By FAR by far. One thing I should note is you do need an Internet connection to get into the multiplayer even if you want to play bots, but you can always use your phone hotspot just to connect, and once you're in just play bots (It's under Practice)
I fully intend to play some team death match at work today.

@DTMOF84 People say the game looks blurrier due to the lower resolution and 30fps gameplay, plus lower resolution textures. I want to see that for myself.
I wish I had the game, as I would record footage for you in that mode, as it would only take a few minutes of my life. I also play games with issues, as I suffer from multiple Sclerosis, I get tremors in my left hand, different issues which you and I didn’t choose to have.
@Hyrule So can you confirm if you can skip any kind of patch and just play the game?
Hey. I didn't try I just downloaded the update, straight away. I have a 256gb sd card so I don't worry about space, but I suspect you can probably play it without. You get the option to start the software or download.
@Hyrule It is not a matter of storage It is a matter of principle I just can't buy a game on a cartridge that is useless (cartridge that acts like a half game that requires a download to be able to play)
@Octane I know it had a bad first year but from then on it caught up to the 360 and I'm pretty sure pulled even. To this day I think it still sells better all be it at a really low volume.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@Spoony_Tech True, they caught up in the end, but things may have gone very different if the PS3 was cheaper at launch. I think the reason why the 360 sold as well as it did, was partly due to the mistakes Sony made with the PS3.
The stupid thing about the withheld multiplayer is that it is stored within the update itself as opposed to being downloadable as separate DLC via the eShop. Unfortunately for non-English players, this update also includes all voice packs for languages other than English (I expect that subtitles should still be available for all languages directly from the cartridge).
Bethesda skimping on a 32GB cartridge for this really doesn't bode well for Wolfenstein II. I can forgive them for leaving out the multiplayer here, as the multiplayer mode won't be functional when the servers are turned off anyway (by the way, why isn't local multiplayer supported?!), but I will skip any game that is not fully playable from the cartridge alone (at least where offline/local play is concerned). I don't particularly care for online play (mainly due to Australian internet being laughably poor), so I'm not too fussed, but it's still unfortunate, and a borderline unacceptably substantial download.
And for those wondering, yes, you can skip the download (I haven't loaded in my micro SD card yet, so it can't download it) and play the game as-is.
It's not the crispest game, but it looks and plays fine. Loading times are not unreasonable (about 15 seconds) and frequent checkpoints make this ideal for portable play. The load times put Lego City Undercover's ridiculous load times (and mediocre performance) into very harsh perspective indeed.
@sillygostly ''but I will skip any game that is not fully playable from the cartridge alone.''
''And for those wondering, yes, you can skip the download (I haven't loaded in my micro SD card yet, so it can't download it) and play the game as-is.''
Those two statements contradict each other.
So the game is not the full experience on the cartridge but you can play the single player only from the cartridge. Is that what you are saying?
I will wait till it drops to $20. I expect that to happen quickly too. Just because the game is new on a certain console, that does not make it a new game worth a full price tag. Especially when that game is downgraded.
I am sure the game is still fun. But missing game mode, 30fps, and downgraded resolution and textures does not convince me to to spend $60 on the Switch instead of $20 on the PS4 version. Although playing Doom while dropping a deuce does sound enticing.
So I went to Walmart to buy the game and they couldn’t ring it up. I guess the cashier who was also the electronics manager said it was restricted. His explanation was that Nintendo wasn’t allowing them to sell it yet. Every time he scanned it, it gave him an error message. But I showed him it was available on their site and ready for pickup in store. He suggested I try that but said it could take up to four hours for the order to process on their end. Nope. I’ll wait around for GameStop to open before I do that BS. Anyways I went to Meijer and bought it no problem. Anyone else have this happen?

How many times you going to tell everyone you’re not buying it?
@Octane True, but Microsoft earned a LOT of good will over the course of the X360 as the defacto gaming brand of the modern age. The same can be said of X1. The PS4 would not be doing so well if not for the colossal mistakes MS made with the X1. Each of them blundered massively on alternating generations. Of course only Vita rivals WiiU's level of blunder.
