@MSTRDM The inverse of Dark Souls (if you're reading that thread) Diablo does wizards traditionally. I.E. They make the game very hard in the beginning (you are very limited with weak attacks you can use infrequently, lack variety of attacks for all situations, and are very much a weakling, in order for the payoff later of being able to decimate a screen of enemies with a push of a button. So by endgame mage/sorc/wizard is arguably the most powerful, but has a rougher go of it early on. Same for necro (I haven't tried the D3 necro yet since it was added in DLC, so I'm going on D2.)

@MSTRDM

Any of your casting classes are going to be the hardest to start with, actually.

Any of the melee ones will ease you into the game, but will in turn become tougher toward the end-game stuff.

(I mean, if we're being honest, the campaign itself really isn't hard no matter what class you pick until you try the toughest difficulty or two.)

I can't wait for this game! I never bought the Necro DLC on PC because I'm cheap, so I'm excited to play through with him. I also think Diablo is wicked fun on console. The clicking really gets to me on PC for some reason - maybe it's because I've been clicking through these games since I was like 10 years old lol It'll be nice to use the sticks instead.

@Quarth thinking the same. Have played this thing to death but really keen to grab it as the Switch seems such a great fit for bashing through a quick rift etc whilst out and about, but geezus... So many games, so little time?

@BrainOfGrimlock I'm a Nintendo gamer first so a ton of these popular 3rd party games I missed out on. I have played some in the past like Fallout 3 and Bioshock but a good deal of these I missed out on. I will be getting this day one but I don't want it to get in the way of beating Dark Souls.

@NEStalgia

Normally, I’m more into the casting classes, think I have to anticipate on getting a rough first round then. Thanks for your reply!

@rallydefault

Makes sense, thanks for the reply! Missed D3 on the ps3, and since then didnt own a console until now, so I’m thrilled to start this one next week as well!

D3 was my first Diablo. I also enjoy casting classes, and had no real problem with them in D3. The game has a bunch of difficulty levels to choose from, and I always found a setting that was fun for any class.

Let's not discuss or bring that up here, thank you.

How could you guys play the same game like three times? I have it on PC and PS4. I'm not getting an Switch version since I played PC and PS4 too many times.

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

GeeEmm

Havent played the game at all, so this will be my first time.

@Super_Gravy
All of the Diablo games are infinitely replayable, in my opinion. Their very design centers on randomly generated layouts each and every time you play. Each character plays entirely differently, and I've only beaten the game with the monk and the demon hunter so far. Greater rifts, too - perfect little bits of time.

Been playing through this again on PS4, just a wonderful game.

I'm eager to be able to play on my lunch breaks at work on Switch.

@Super_Gravy How can people sit at the video poker machine for endless hours? Simple: It's designed to hit on your addictive impulses. Diablo's a lot cheaper though.

Super_Gravy

Fair enough! Yes Diablo is cheaper than casino and I agreed the game have so much replayable. My question is, what's making you hype enough to fork over your cash for the full price game three times in an row?

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

Tasuki

@Super_Gravy I look at it as just being able to create more characters. I have it on PC, which I got for free through a deal Blizzard did with WoW years ago. I don't have a PC anymore so I can't play that. Had it on Xbox 360 but traded it in for the PS4 version. Now I will be getting it on Switch mainly so I can play it on the go, as well as play it with a few friends that don't own a PS4.

At least you got an point there. Its suck that's you gotta buy deluxe version to get more characters. I got an PS4 for playing with friends that don't have it co-op. I never thought of having more characters this way.

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

@Super_Gravy Heck I have it now on PS4 (original physical launch, and Eternal from a digital sale), X1 (digital on a sale....it's pretty on there, and I don't have a gaming PC anymore) and now on Switch I'll get it. I bought the PS4 digital copy so I had it digital, it was a cheap sale, and my old saves carry over. I bought it on X1 to get that "sooo pretty" PC experience back. And then a freaking week later they announced it on Switch (along with like 5 other games announced on Switch that I'd rather have on Switch right after I bought them on X1 sales.) Portable handheld Diablo is kind of a dream since 1997. No way I'm passing that up.

That said, I surprised myself buying MHGU due to the 25% off digital sale, and I need Civ6. And I'm knee deep into Dark Souls. And that doesn't include all the PS/XB games on the backlog and still coming this month (76!) And I'm running out of SD card space on my new 256 already. So I'm debating digital, or physical, but it's a game I think I'd often just pick up and play so digital is probably the way to go. Given the existing deep discounts on this on other platforms and the fact I probably won't be ready to get into it until Spring, I'm considering holding off for inevitable sales. If Capcom runs Switch sales, you know Blizzard will for this since it's already been on deep sales everywhere else. I want to get into it now...but I'm already into so much now. And I already have the game on other platforms if I get a craving for some Diablo.

@ReaderRagfish It also assumes you never played the auction house at launch. There's a lot of assumptions in that statement.

Only a week of anticipation left, what class is good for a beginner? I was thinking of wizard, as I read it is decent in both single and multiplayer.

Witch Doctor can be a very strong solo class because of his pets. I suspect the Necromancer is the same, but I've never played that class before. Crusader is probably the most resilient character class; I once made a Crusader who was effectively invulnerable, but he also did very low damage as a result. But each class has its own strengths and weaknesses with a staggering amount of build diversity, so if one set of skills and gear aren't working for you, you can quickly change things up until you find something you like.
