@SlashFuture
Depends if they paid to exclude Nintendo also. It’s possible they figured eh, it can’t run on Switch anyways and it’ll be years before Switch 2 is out, so why dump tens of millions of dollars more to prevent a game releasing on a console it was never going to release on in the first place.
That said, as Nintendo continues to emerge as the new market leader, I suspect Sony, despite all their “Nintendo is for kids” rhetoric, will see them as more and more of a threat, and once Switch 2 is out will likely also pay to exclude Nintendo as well.
Which, nothing is too low for Sony. They screw everyone any way they can. Best way to fight against it is to not buy games on PS5 they bribed exclusivity for. Always wait for the Steam release.

Man, I dk what the heck happened here, but the difficulty spikes just went through the roof on chapter 10.
I've essentially been in the same spot for a couple nights now, not being able to get past the behomth king in the prison area. I've had to level up quite a few times.
Just got to level 41 and gave him another go, only to get one shotted by the guy. Guess I'll get up to level 42 or 43 and go at it again.
One thing I've noticed late in the game is how all over the difficulty is for the side missions. Even with the same star rank. Some I can walk into and destroy the boss in 3-4 hits, others I can be at it for 5-7 minutes.
The game got increasingly hard in this last chapter, unfortunately. I died maybe 3 or 4 times throughout the rest of the game until chapter 10. Now I've died close to 60-70 times. I love the game, but it's odd to say the least.
I rolled the credits tonight. Other than ch 10 being a slog for me, the rest of the game, and the ending were great. I just can't understand the difficulty for some of the enemies though. I struggled more on some smaller missions than I did on the final boss. I made it all the way through without dying once. Rock solid experience that I kind of wish FF9 would get a similar treatment for. But, I can understand why FF7 got this prequel over 9 or others.
@NintendoByNature
I think some of those side missions are meant more as end game challenge material (I could be wrong).
It wouldn't be FF without a late game difficulty spike though. I remember in FFX getting jammed up on Yunalesca, though once you learn the right tactics it becomes doable. Still hard. But doable.
I'll learn from you though and make sure I'm prepared whenever I get to that chapter.

@JaxonH exactly. It was just a little jarring since it was rolling through the game like a cake walk up until ch 10. That behemouth king caused me lots of problems until i was level 44. He's optional, but if you're leveled up, it's worth getting some experience out of him.
I think I was level 45 or so when I defeated the last boss. And I did it with ease at that level. Just a nudge for ya there.
Finally started this game and loving it!
FFVII OG is probably one of my favorite games of all time... and equally I really enjoyed Remake (or 'FFVII NG+' lol).
Never had a PSP, so this has been my first chance to play CC and genuinely enjoying it. Switch performance pretty solid too, as it should be I suppose (considering this is a remaster of a PSP title).
1 question I have - I started on Normal difficulty and have just finished chapter 1 - did anyone else feel like they are just steamrolling through the game? Should I switch to hard?
For context - I enjoy challenging games, love the FromSoft catalogue and other things like Returnal / Hades etc. I've just finished reaching AR level 200 in Monster Hunter Sunbreak.... and the latter hunts involved fighting things that had the potential to 2-shot me!
Is hard mode a solid challenge in CC? Or brutally unfair/tedious? I never got around to hard mode in FF7-R, but understand it was fairly brutal

The story has been easy-breezy, but I did run into the first sort of difficulty spike with the five star side missions. My health was beginning to be taxed too much by enemy attacks and my damage began to fall off.

I concur. The beginning of the game was a cake walk, and pretty much all the main story. There were some side missions late game that caused me a ton of trouble, and a handful of enemies that were next to impossible to take down without leveling up 2 or 3 times( looking at you behemoth king 😉). I'd say you can try hard and switch back to normal if needed. It'll provide more of a challenge until late game when you might want to reconsider.
I will stick on Normal until end of Chapter 2 - and if it is still pretty easy, I'll give Hard a whirl. Did some research online, where general consensus seems to indicate that Hard is perhaps best saved for NG+? I tend not to often do NG+ though, and can't see me doing it with this game.... so yeah, if Chapter 2 feels as easy I'll move to Hard and see how I get on.
Loving the story though, so weird seeing Sephiroth at a time in his life/career where he is actually part of SOLDIER etc.
@CJD87 no problem. I think you'll find it'll be easy in ch 2 as well. It's a great game though, and was super cool seeing a different side of the coin. Have fun!
@SlashFuture ahh gotcha. Beginning of the game then. Yea, I'd say just do some side stuff and mess around with that for a bit. Come back later and you should be fine. This game is odd like that, where difficulty spikes pop in outta nowhere.
@Colonel_Mustache
Did I recommend it to you? Huh, guess I did! Well uh... you're welcome 😊
I haven't finished it (backlogitis) but I loved every minute of it I played. And it's a quality Switch port too. Very well done.
