@Tasuki nice. Didn't realize big show works for them now. I knew Owen's wife hates wwe but I didn't realize he could be in another game. I'll definitely be doing runs with him. Absolutely loved Owen As a kid.

@NintendoByNature It all comes down to who owns the rights. WWE doesn't own the rights to Owen his family does, just like Cody owns the rights to his likeness and name. So yeah who ever wants them in whatever game are free to have them as long as it's ok with them.

I still find it odd that Cody is in the game and WWE don't mind. It's such an odd occurrence that pretty much never happens. A wrestler can be gone from WWE for 5 minutes before a new game is due to come out and they will cut them before the game's release.

I remember when Hogan was in WWE 2K14 and it was a big deal at the time, because he was still in TNA at that point. It got him a TON of heat with TNA. Hogan owned the rights to his likeness, but TNA thought he should have turned WWE down if he was loyal to TNA. That's about the only instance I can think of. That and I think Bret Hart was still in WWF War Zone after he went to WCW if I remember correctly.

I mean Big Show was cut from No Mercy and all he did was take a few months off TV to go to their developmental to get in better shape.

@Reprise Even if WWE minded they can't really do anything about it. I mean yeah they can release him, but that would hurt them more then Cody.

The women’s division roster is really lacking. No Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Saraya, Athena etc.

The DLC is confusing, there doesn’t seem to be a season pass so you have to buy them in a group of two but their pairings are odd like Keith Lee and The Bunny.

@Reprise I remember in 99 Jericho was in WCW Nitro(N64),WCW Thunder(PS1),WCW Mayhem(PS1 & N64) and WWF Wrestlemania 2000(N64) it was especially odd as he had been very open publicly for like a year that he would be leaving WCW for WWF in summer 99. I remember reading a video game magazine article for Mayhem in summer of 99 that featured a interview with Jericho who was totally checked out of wcw and was super eager to go to wwf.

The season pass was on the eshop when I preordered day 1 but quickly got taken down it was $25. My guess is it will return when the game officially releases.

@MeatSauce Ah yes, I had forgotten about Jericho appearing in all those games. I had bought WCW Mayhem and WWF Wrestlemania 2000 and always thought that was quite odd.

I guess when you're the smaller company (if I am being cynical) it does make sense to make use of your ex roster whilst you still can, particularly when they go to WWE and it might bring more eyes to your product (e.g. "oh you love Cody Rhodes and don't know much about AEW? Well, guess what? He's still in our game!"). Cody is a huge star. I remember TNA/Impact promoting lots of AJ Styles merch and bringing out a new DVD set after he went to WWE.

WWE usually cuts guys from their games the very second they leave. Some of the older games even still have them on the carts/discs, they just hide them and then they get discovered when people dig around in the game's code. The only exception I can think of is when Punk walked out of WWE in early 2014 and was still in 2K15, because at that point they had already been working on the Cena vs Punk feud for the Showcase mode.

Anyways, only a few more days to go. Hope the game is good! I am optimistic.

Anyone have an idea of when reviews will drop.

@jump There is a season pass, if you purchase the Elite Edition it's included with that. At some point I am sure you will be able to purchase it separate as well, probably after launch.

This is the most excited I’ve been for a wrestling game since the PS2 Smackdown’s. I’m kinda in the same place I was in 1998 where I wasn’t a big fan of what wcw the company was doing but I was super hyped for Revenge.

@MeatSauce Same! I am a huge wrestling games fan and have really disliked the direction the WWE games have been going in for years (even more so since 2K took over from THQ). Not only that, but just the lack of variety is annoying. Back in the day, wrestling was a huge cultural phenomenon and there were so many different wrestling games, even different WWF and WWE games.

Revenge, WM 2000 and No Mercy were my favourites as a kid. I was a WWF guy, my best friend was a WCW guy and we played the hell out of Revenge and No Mercy. Then Shut Your Mouth, Here Comes the Pain, SvR 2006 & 2007, plus the Day of Reckoning games were all great.

It seems like AEW are really trying to create a fun and exciting wrestling game just like those from our youth. Everything screams fun, from breaking people through the screen, riding the skateboard, chucking molotov cocktails and the barbed wire match. The gameplay looks so smooth and addictive too.

Started preloading it on the Series X so I can check it on Wednesday. I can't wait.

Still no reviews? That doesn't fill me with confidence.

I saw something about the CAW features are very limited with no community sharing options which isn't great if true and a Stadium Stampede mode is in the game.

Reviews should be up soon. Review codes were sent to reviewers well in advance and the embargo ends today (that's the same for all THQ Nordic published games by the way).

The creative suite is very limited, that is confirmed. The number of moves you can allocate is large and there are lots of options for entrances, but in terms of actually designing the look of your wrestlers, yeah it's fairly restrictive.

The Stadium Stampede mode wasn't ready for launch it seems. I really hope it isn't some scrapped mode that people stumbled upon that was left in the game's code. It does seem like it is something that is coming later though and is rumoured to be added in an update closer to when All In and All Out are held.

@Reprise reviews coming out today is a good sign at least. Fingers crossed!

@jump Yeah, hopefully they're not too bad. I have avoided leaks about the Road to Elite mode, but it sounds fairly short and not exactly mind-blowing, so I can imagine the lack of content might bring scores down. I really hope the gameplay is as solid and reminiscent of the older games as it looks. The variety of weapons and level of interaction looks top notch. I am loving what I have seen so far.

Edit: Oh the embargo lifts in 6 minutes! Lol. Just read it somewhere else.

Push Square gave it a 5/10, so I'll average it out at a 6/10.

Px gave it 7/10. NL gave it 7/10. It's all I need to know I'm buying it. I just can't for the life of me decide if I want to grab it on switch or Xbox. I guess the switch version had some odd stuttering. I've seen rgt85 and NL state it. Xbox doesn't have that, so I dk.
