I'm actually looking forward to this one, I still play WWE 2K19 (despite having 2K23), just because of the AEW universe mode I have set up. I'm hoping this turns out to be a pretty good game, although I'm not sure if I'll get it for the Nintendo Switch, or snap it up on PS4.

I just hope the character creation tools allow me to create an amalgamation of X-Pac and Bull Nakano.

I cant decide where to buy this. If switch gets a great version I'll grab it there. Otherwise I'll grab it on xbox.

I might be in the minority here, but I think this game will fit quite well on the switch. It clearly isn’t made solely for higher spec consoles like PS5, the style looks more reminiscent of the 2000s WWE PS2 games down to the perspective of the matches. It appears more simplistic compared to recent WWE 2K games (that is definitely not a bad thing by any means!) The Switch shouldn’t have a problem running this game at a reasonable rate I think.

Wait, why do we need a signature? Eh, I don’t know. Here’s your signature.

Tasuki

@NintendoByNature I might just get both at some point so I can play it on the go. But I am definitely getting it on the Xbox first.

@TheBigBlue It's more of the arcadey type like No Mercy, where as 2k is more Sim. Honestly it reminds me of the Day of Reckoning games on the Gamecube.

@Lony85 I have always wanted to set up an AEW Universe mode in the 2K games, just never had the time to do so.

I actually preordered it for PS5 and Switch, which I almost never do. In fact, I think I have never done that. I think the game looks great! As someone who is a huge fan of the wrestling video games genre (a genre that has sadly, mostly died, aside from the annual WWE games) and really does not enjoy the WWE 2K series at all, I think from what we have seen so far, that it does look like they have done a good job of creating something that looks fun and accessible, but hopefully also quite deep once you get into it. When I think of my favourite wrestling games, I think of Revenge, No Mercy, Here Comes the Pain, the Fire Pro games, early SvR games and the Day of Reckoning games, and Fight Forever looks like it is taking inspiration from those games and effectively going back to that style of gameplay. It definitely has that pick up and play style.

Hopefully the gameplay is good, each wrestler feels like their on screen counterpart and there are a variety of moves. Getting the gameplay right is the main thing they need to nail, but hopefully the career mode is also good. The career mode is my main concern right now, as they really haven't told us anything about it yet or shown anything off. One of the best elements of No Mercy and the early Smackdown games were their Championship and Season modes, which were really authentic replications of the weekly television we had at the time, with fun storylines, lots of choices and branching paths. The "career" modes that the 2K games have had over the last decade almost, have been terrible every single year, so I really hope it's something AEW and Yukes gets right.

Still waiting to see if it performs well on switch. Otherwise if it doesn't, I'll grab it on XB.

I got The Elite Edition pre-ordered on Xbox. I figured I'd just get that edition, since I would have end up getting the season pass at some point.

@NintendoByNature
There was some Switch gameplay on YT but it got claimed and removed.

It looks decent enough. Definitely lower res and simplified textures- not a showpiece Switch release or anything, but from what I saw, it's serviceable enough. Seemed to be running fine, too. Don't know how it'll look in handheld mode. And sometimes performance is something you have to feel rather than watch. But it was enough to encourage me to keep my preorder.

Someone captured a few min of the Switch footage before it was removed.

You can view here. Just keep in mind, it's a YT-compressed upload of a YT-compressed upload. So bitrate is a bit low of the footage. A bit rougher as expected but, playable! Definitely not a 2k18 situation. 4 guys in the ring and the game isn't going into cardiac arrest, so that's a plus!

@JaxonH as long as it looks and runs acceptable, I'm all for it. I'm getting it either way, so we'll see where I buy it. It's been years since I've been excited for a wrestling game, so I'm hoping it scores well all around.

@NintendoByNature
For sure.

I can always reluctantly buy for SteamDeck (assuming EAC doesn't bork it) but I really hope the Switch version turns out well. Doesn't have to be a showpiece, just look acceptable and run well enough. That's all I ask.

@JaxonH let's put it this way. I can still go back to revenge, world tour, WM2000, and have a phenomenal time. Then again, thats my childhood right there, so I'm willing to look past the graphics and such. It's the core gameplay of AEW that I'm most interested in since it's supposed to play like those n64 games.

Maybe someone knows better than I, but how did they get so many wrestlers tied to wwf/wwe on the games roster? Thinking about the likes of Owen Hart, cody( I know he WAS in Aew, but isn't currently), Paul Wight etc. I don't follow AEW as much as I do wwe, but I found it odd. Certainly not complaining though.

NintendoByNature

Tasuki

@NintendoByNature Paul Wight (FKA Big Show) works for AEW now, Cody's model was made before signing WWE plus Cody retains his likeness, name etc license, WWE doesn't own it. And Owen Heart because Owen's wife owns the rights to his likeness and hates WWE due to his death, she believes that WWE knew the danger before hand and forced Owen to go through with the stunt.

And alot of people who once worked for WWE now work for AEW.
