@MontyCircus Good luck, everywhere I've tried is not taking pre-orders if you can find one please let us know.
The jury is still out for me, I think the console price itself is reasonable but game cartridges aren't but if I could find a copy of MKW for a few extra quid off the price then I'd still be interested.

I will buy it, but in general I absolutely despise preorder culture. When I eventyally see one in a shop I will get it, avoiding the stress that my preorder will be cancelled, avoiding all the day one tech issues, seeing what is worth buying and what is not, and possibly seeing games or add ons receive a price cut from brick and mortar retailers.

Realistically the only game I want at launch is MKW, so I can wait.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

Yeah I’ll be getting one. MKW, the upgrades to BOTW/TOTK and GameCube on NSO are enough for me.

@Hapless your right about smyths and very. Seems like they have the most stock. I got my pre orders from both

@1UP_MARIO Tried all of those, none are taking pre-orders.
I was undecided on the Switch 2 at launch but I guess that the decision has now been made for me.

@Hapless that’s what I use. Never fails. @Dhaladog Argos has them

Well after all the nit-picking I've done about the price of it's software I've gone ahead and bought one along with a physical copy of MKW, good old Argos! the extra bits and pieces are going to have to wait a bit though although I think I'll have to buy a screen protector for it.

@Hapless Thought what the heck, I've dove straight in so why not get myself a controller and Micro SD express card (Argos is offering them at a very good price) as well, now all I need is a whole host of first party games to fill that Nintendo void.

I learned it doesnt happen if you're not rough with it, and Im not (my brother is and he had both joycon get drift- that's when I realized it would never be a problem for me).

All those folks with Joy-Con drift can't all be misusing them - you just got lucky.

We've had a few with drift over the years - my son is pretty rough on his due to disability, but his spare set drifted straight out of the box. It seems they've fixed, or at least improved the drift issue over time as he hasn't had any issues with the white joy-con from the OLED.
My daughter had drift on one of hers too. She's always super-careful with her Switch and always puts in back in the dock after playing. She never really plays anything other than Animal Crossing so I'm not sure you can be rough with the sticks on that!

So far I've got Switch 2 MKW bundle, Official case from Smyths and Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma coming on launch day, with DK and then Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar pre-ordered for July and August respectively

Might get a Pro Controller and Yakuza 0 too but we shall see!

I dont think everyone is "misusing" them, I just think some players are rougher with moving analogs than others. My brother gets really into it when he games and starts mashing buttons harder and jamming the sticks harder. I dont get like that when I game anymore, which I suspect is why none of my joycon or Switch Lite had issues.

I do think the launch model joycon from 2017 were waaay worse. So I wouldn't be surprised if those saw issues regardless of how careful you are.

I have a Steam Deck so I was questioning whether I'd get it earlier or wait a bit. I don't need it, I have other options. But the line-up of software was impressive and the way they're handling backwards compatibility, accessories and enhancements is as good as I was hoping. Add to that the level of performance exceeding my expectations (which is saying something)

I figured I'm going to be buying it by the end of the year anyways. Especially for Prime 4 because there's no way I'm getting that on Switch now when Switch 2 is an option. So why not also enjoy the hype of launch? So I have a pre-order. Just the Mario Kart bundle, nothing else. No accessories or other games or anything, there isn't really any need for it

It's actually working out to be a fairly cheap console launch relatively speaking

As a side note, I find it amusing seeing some of the posts earlier in this thread talking about Steam Deck and ROG Ally. Because of the price, battery life and performance people talking about them as alternative options. I'm a bit perplexed by those posts because, from where I'm looking, Switch 2 clearly wins that fight. Maybe not on battery due to the slimmer design but even then only just barely and only because the battery is smaller, it consumes less than half the power! Get a battery bank and you'll be laughing

No. I won't. With how the world is right now. I don't want a $500+ console at the moment. It's a bad investment when I have an Xbox Series X and the original Switch.

I'll get it in a year or two.

@WaveBoy
Worth noting there's only so much you can do in terms of interesting design and wacky controls when what you're selling is a fairly sizable screen with controllers on the side. Especially if you're, I would argue rightly, pushing for a fairly slim tablet portion with a relatively small bezel. And also maintaining a form that allows it to effectively behave like a Switch for the purposes of backwards compatibility. Not much space to be interesting

But even within that fairly narrow window they have added mouse input, which is pretty far out of left field especially as far as consoles go. They've also improved the haptics which is certainly welcome. Honestly I'm not sure what else people were wanting out of it, and I've been kinda saying this is what it was going to be for a while

Anyone think we'll be getting a battery life upgrade add-on for Switch 2 anytime soon, I think they'd probably upgrade the battery on a pro model along with a pretty Oled screen but I can't see anything mentioned for the current console.
