Upgrade Nintendo eShop to the My Nintendo Store so you can not only purchase games (in physical or digital format), but also purchase hardware and other merchandise and explore sales and deals straight from your Switch 2.
And this whole idea came from seeing the Microsoft Store on Xbox
@MrCarlos46 The premise of that article seems flawed. I recall the reveal window was rumored to be this fiscal year, which goes until March. So, the rumored launch window for May-ish, is still plausible, and not delayed.
@WoomyNNYes This was the full statement back in May:
"This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation."
Which makes reveal being by the end of March 2025 sound likely but at the same time gives them enough leeway that if they wanted to they could make an announcement by the end of March 2025 that was like "The successor to Nintendo Switch will be revealed on [insert date or window after March 2025]." and technically not be lying about their past statement.
I thought Nate the Hate (in mid september?) was one with insider info talking about a May 2025 launch of the console. I think Kat Bailey (from IGN) was in that podcast, too, agreeing with Nate on the launch window.
@WoomyNNYes I think it'll be revealed in February and released in September. I've brought it up in the Direct thread before but I think Nintendo could do a Switch 1 general Direct in November to fill in the lineup after Brothership.
It's really weird though that Nintendo's seemingly letting the NSO playtest pass by without officially announcing anything about the playtest.

After seeing the detailed leaks, it doesn't feel like something which really has to be announced; they said it was a test and it feels like just a test of something not happening soon.
@Grumblevolcano If switch 2 is going to launch September, then I'm looking forward to finding out what game releases Nintendo is planning for the January to July stretch.

Nintendo World Championship snes 😆
2025 is also Mario 40 anniversary. If Switch 2 is early I feel like they can basically ignore the anniversary because new 3D Mario and/or new Mario Kart would be plenty. But if Switch 2 is late in 2025 I would kind of expect them to do at least one anniversary thing — maybe Galaxy 2 or nsmb wii port?

September 2025 should be the month of Switch 2 and Mario’s 40th anniversary
2 events happening in one month, although the Mario 40th anniversary will go beyond September 2025 and sometime into March 2026
@MrCarlos46 Mario 30th anniversary celebration started in April and although 35th celebration started in September, leaks said it was supposed to be earlier in the year but got delayed by covid. On that schedule, there would be something in Spring or Summer and then Switch 2 would effectively finish the celebration.
@MrCarlos46 Nintendo would need to be the proprietor of the retail stores for it to be consistant. If not they are selling something they don't strictly have final say on and if one country offers better free gifts than another, then you get a disparity. It's just not...cool.
Is there another way around it to make My Nintendo Store on Switch 2 work
I think it'll be revealed in February and released in September
I think this is just crazy talk. Firstly because I can't see them extending the Switch for another year especially outside of Japan. But also because it just seems completely unnecessary. Why drag it out so much? What do they gain by waiting until September? Stockpiling units?
Nah, I think we see an announcement in the next couple of weeks for a launch around May

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions

A lot of it comes because of holiday season sales, and people have said that any announcement made will risk Nintendo cannibalizing 2024 Switch holiday sales
