The only remakes I actively want from Nintendo right now are Super Mario RPG remake styled graphical updates to the SNES DKC and the GBA Golden Sun games.
But I do hope for other fans that F Zero GX, FE4, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Pokemon Black and White HD-2D also happen.
I really don't feel that the DKC games need any graphical updates.
A remake of Donkey Kong Land on the other hand is quite neccessary, but that's the stuff of fantasy, would never happen.
1. Super Mario World- With a bonus world exclusive to the remake along with a new fortress and Castle 8.
2. Paper Mario- With post game missions
3. Dragon Quest 5
4. Kirby Mass Attack
5. Donkey Kong 64
6. Mother 3 (With worldwide localization)
7. Pokemon Black and White
8. Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels (With Worlds E-Z added as exclusive to the remake)
I think it would be fun to remake the original Legend of Zelda. It feels fitting given how much inspiration BOTW took from that entry. There's also a lot of room for fun bonus content with creative reuse of assets. Consider the following.
-Make an Echoes of WIsdom in style mode. Recontextualize the original map by playing with the echoes mechanic. I imagine they could reuse a lot of code to make this feasible.
-Restore the lost alternate maps from the BS-X Zelda broadcast!
-Add an actual dungeon maker
-Add a randomizer mode or some other challenge mode
-Add a boss rush
I feel like all of this could make for a fun way to re-experience the start of the Legend of Zelda franchise.
Also, they could remake the iconic golden cartridge for a special release if they wanted to make even more money off this.
There's just too many to list so I'll stick what others have mentioned already and what I've been saying any chance I get.
I want Kid Icarus Uprising remastered for Switch as is. The game by itself is so fun and incredibly deep. From the campaign to especially the multiplayer. If remastered right I could see the multiplayer being another online tournament thing like they do with Mario Kart and Smash. It's too much of a tragedy to leave it to be forgotten on the 3DS.
This fire is burning and it's out of control. It's not a problem you can stop it's Rock and Roll!!!
I think it's time for an Ocarina of Time Remake - maybe for Switch 2 launch. We're so far out from the 3DS version now - and a full-blown Remake could go so hard - could make Hyrule Field larger and full of stuff to do, etc. I'd love that - ideally with an up-ressed version of the 3DS game included.
Sometimes I dream of a huge "FF7 style" remake for OoT... but then I fear it would fall foul of the same sort of busy-work/side-quest fatigue that is present in FF7Remake and Rebirth (IMO, both had the potential to be amazing, if they were somewhat streamlined and the fat trimmed out)
For me, I think OoT should undergo the Metroid Prime 'remaster treatment' and Nintendo shoot for something similar to the native Steam/PC port by "Ship of Harkinian"(?) I played that on steamdeck, and it absolutely fixes all QoL issues with Ocarina +graphical upscaling
Not trolling here, actually genuinely interested - what would a good remake look like in your eyes?
To me the only Zelda game I would like to see remake is Wind Waker. I am also harsher than most on what a remake is ( Resident evil 2 is my go to exemple it’s the same premise but a completely different experience)
I love the strong feeling of adventure and atmosphere in WW but the dungeons imo are some of my least favorites of the 3d games and it’s probably the game who had the most stuff cut from it due to time constraints. Like at least 2 dungeons plus the triforce quest, Hyrule below being pretty limited in its exploration.
In opposition I think the dungeons in Ocarina are already superbly designed and shouldn’t be changed/remade.
Majora’s Mask in the BOTW artstyle. Or a remake or Murasame castle.
Taiko is good for the soul, Hoisa!

I'm a Dream Fighter. Perfume is Love, Perfume is Life.
Punch-Out!! (Wii)
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (combined with the 3D All-Stars version of Galaxy 1)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (I initially didn’t care about this but then I remembered that I actually do want to play this game)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I know it’s been done already, but so has Wind Waker)
Super Paper Mario
Most of what I want would be more reimaginings than remakes/remasters, but let's see:
-OoT remake/reimagining with a larger, more open world Hyrule Field and new areas/storyline in between Jabu-Jabu's Belly and Forest Temple.
-Legends Purple that serves as a Kanto sequel with an open world map design and an expanded Kanto Dex
-Kirby 64 remake with Leaf and Water added as abilities and new ability combos for them, as well as 4 player co-op allowing you to play as Waddle Dee (maybe changed to Spear Waddle Dee), Adeline, and King Dedede.
-Super Metroid remake in the style of SR/Dread, with newer abilities added and some map design changes (mainly smaller tweaks than what we saw in the likes of ZR and SR, but an overhaul to Maridia. Maridia's design is awful).
-A reimagining of Yoshi's Story that lets you use storybook mechanics to manipulate the level (for example, Yoshi could use his tongue to pull a pull tab and platforms would pop out). This would probably feel more like a new game than a recreation of old content TBH, but I'm counting this.
-Kirby Planet Robobot remake/remaster (I know this is rumored but I hope this is Switch 2 exclusive, Switch 1 feels too soon for this). Doesn't really need anything more, but a new mode would be good.
-ALBW remake/remaster. Again, one of the few that doesn't need anything, just make it playable on Switch 2.
-The DKC trilogy in Returns/TF style. But give us a new game first before they do this.
-Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers DX, which includes elements from Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness, and Explorers of Sky.
Obviously F-Zero GX needs to be available to a modern audience.
Likewise it's a bit of a crime that Wind Waker isn't available on a modern format - that game is such a touchstone and a landmark it should always be there on shelves (and I'd suggest Nintendo do a little nipping and tucking every time to make it a bit more accessible - it's such a natural entry point for younger gamers but the early stealth section still kills progression).
I love Mario Galaxy 2 and think it's the best of the 3d Mario games... but it's not the mass market recommendation for everyone - it was always aimed at the enthusiasts. I'd still like it.
I didn't like Metroid Prime 2 and barely played Prime 3 but I can see that they're a gap in the library
Otherwise Nintendo has done a pretty good job in recent years of making sure their most important games are playable on a modern format - even if NSO winds some people up a lot.
I suppose there's a lot of Fire Emblem games that could do with being available (preferably faithful remakes with modern graphics - I'm sure that at least one or two of them are in the process in this way).
The games I feel like we're most missing are some of the ones that some people would be most "sniffy" about - the 3 absent NSMB games (which always should have been released on Switch as a collection IMO) and the original Wii Sports.
I'd also like to see the Wii Wario Land. I've been playing the GBA Wario Land on NSO and it's great. I wish I'd bought it back in the day - I never should have passed it over (or the Wario Ware games). I know the Wii edition was 4:3 ratio and that addressing this (and ensuring the hand-drawn art looks nice in 4K) could potentially be a major investment of time that wouldn't be recognised or rewarded by the mass market but it's nice to think that it might happen one day.
