So we now have GameStop 800MB/s 1tb @145.99 and Lexar 900MB/s 1tb @199. Will anyone see a difference of 100MB/s on a Switch 2 for games aka "Key-Card"? I am wondering about this? Asking this ahead of time cause. The Lexar 1tb is out of stock right now.

I'd think that it's just the usual advice to buy a named brand rather than a generic one, because you know what you're getting and are less likely to end up with a dud.

Seeing as we're looking at a bunch of brand new products here, I'd take the speed claims with a pinch of salt until someone has independently benchmarked them. Not everyone lives up to their adverts, particularly when they put the magic words "up to" before their transfer speeds.

That said, I'd expect that it won't make a noticeable difference to gameplay, just loading speeds, because that's how it tends to work on the Switch, unless you've got a particularly bad card.

I was just wondering whether I've bought wrongly here, I've only got a 256gb card and with most talking about 1tb cards do they know something I don't, I don't plan on buying any digital only games, will 256gb be enough.

If you aren't buying digital games, the 256 GB card and 256 GB built-in storage should last you a long time. Sure, some supposedly physical games will make you download a lot, but with 500 GB you could fit 20 digital games the size of Mario Kart World. Even if you buy some big AAA games which require big downloads, you should be good for a while. And in the meantime the 500 GB and 1 TB cards will get cheaper over time, so you can upgrade in a couple years if you need.

@FishyS Thanks for the reply, makes sense what you've said but I've gone ahead and cancelled my order for the 256gb card (was a little worried it wasn't enough space) and think I''ll wait it out for a 1TB card, although they are impossible to get your hands on at the moment.

@Dhaladog If I had realized you could cancel I would have suggested the same. The internal space should last fine at the beginning so personally I'm waiting until the prices for the 512 GB or 1 TB go down before I buy any new SD card at all. I actually have a 1 TB card for Switch 1 so I'd like a 1 TB card for Switch 2 eventually (or even a future 2 TB card).

@FishyS For me my exSD 256 was to late to cancel or send back Amazon got one over on me there. I will consider the exSD 512 first and if I see myself getting more and more "Key-Card" I will get a 1tb just for those and use the 512 exSD for the rest of my updates/DLC only. So I will have two different exSD cards for different purpose so exSD 1tb will only be for "Key-Card" games. Also Nintendo said microSD will not work on Switch 2 one has to use exSD cards only.....

Yeah, I'm sad I can't just move over my old card from Switch 1. It will be awhile before the new cards get cheap.

@FishyS Only because they are express speeds compatiblity.

From Nintendo themselves.

I hope they drop in prices sooner then later as if cheap-butte Devs go with "Key-Cards" that will force me to have one for "Key-Card" games only and swap back to my exSD that holds game updates/DLC. So will have to buy another exSD 256 or 512(maybe) to hold those games.
Lexar is still $89.82 on Amazon.
