@Magician possibly, but I’m so happy that they revealed the console and it turns out I was wrong about the console being a better and stronger Switch! Really excited to see what they have in store for it, but it’ll be a few months till we actually find out more about it unfortunately. Now that they revealed it, I am somewhat expecting some leakers to leak the existence of certain games for the Switch 2 later on near the time of the Direct since that seems to always happen with Nintendo Direct presentations every time. I’m just curious what games won’t be playable on the Switch 2, but I absolutely expect all or almost every game developed directly by Nintendo to be playable. Though, I wonder if it will make them less likely to make simple ports of their games if a lot of Switch games are backwards compatible on the Switch 2.

If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.

The things we haven't seen yet are the Switch 2 U/I, Switch 2 box art design, Switch 2 cartridge looking, Switch 2 eshop U/I.

@Anti-Matter and more importantly switch 2 games.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

With the Switch 2’s reveal also came an official render which we’ll likely see for its box, except will the box have the same dimensions as the current Switch/Switch OLED box or will there be something bigger?

@FragRed
I thought it was gonna be something else for a looooong time. Super Switch would've been sick.

I came to accept the grim reality a couple weeks ago when the leaks were all starting to line up.

Well they revealed it. And they didn't tell us much more than the leaks. I feel like this reveal is literally just "Okay here you go, Switch 2! Now shut up about the leaks and let us cook." The fact that the Switch 2 Direct is April 2nd, a mere 2 days after their fiscal year window, suggests that this reveal is only the way it is here and now because of the leaks. The Switch 2 Direct does feel like it has shades of the January presentation for Switch 1, but that might also be closer to when they actually intended to reveal it, maybe the sentiments that Nintendo wanted to wait until the last minute were accurate and they changed plans because of the leaks? Whatever the case, we have it, it's exactly what the leaks said, now the painful wait for April for what we actually want to know at this point.

@FishyS Yeah true. But Sonic Forces was revealed when Switch was still NX. Even said NX on the trailer. So maybe they have some wriggle room.

Actually we kind of got a similar moment already when Playtonic revealed Yooka-Replaylee is coming to "Nintendo platforms". 100% the Nintendo platform they mean is Switch 2, no way in hell it can run on anything else.

The next Mario Kart looks great (DK aside). That being said, I don't think this was a good choice for Switch 2 reveal. I think 3D Mario would get a lot more attention and hype than a new Mario Kart. Hopefully we here more about this and 3D Mario on Mario Day!

That's probably the game they'd prefer to show but I don't think it's ready yet. Rumors are that the 3D Mario is going to be open world. They probably need more time to get it looking presentable. I'm guessing we don't get 3D Mario reveal until April 2nd, but maybe they could give us a hint or teaser on Mario Day.

April is so far away One can only hope third parties just announce stuff now lol.

One thing I did notice, minor detail BTW, is the gamecard flap is reversed on the switch 2. Wonder why they changed it.

I mentioned this in the mouse functionality thread, but I think the hint that you can use the Switch 2 Joy Cons like a mouse increases the likelihood that Prime 4 is cross gen. Nintendo is going to want launch titles that demonstrate why that feature is useful, and an FPS like Prime 4 (yes yes I know it's technically an FPA, but it's close enough to an FPS for the purpose of mechanics and controls) would be a great candidate for this. And I don't think the mouse functionality is going to work with Switch 1 games, so a full Switch 2 version of Prime 4 at or around launch would make sense.

This is an interesting one to talk about since there hasn’t been much amiibo releases these days: Will Switch 2 still support amiibo?

Screw Metroid Prime 4. I'm hoping mouse controls means we're getting another Fossil Fighters game.

MMOs and RTS are what first came to mind with mouse controls considering those genres are usually PC exclusive.

@Grumblevolcano It's important to note that it's only mouse controls. MMOs need keyboards to work effectively, so I don't see it being meant for MMOs really.

Ok, does having a mouse mean that it might be easier to port DS and 3DS games to the Switch? Especially for TV Mode and Tabletop Mode?

The mouse replaces the need for a touch screen?

clearly the mouse will be usable as a normal mouse for some games... but I'm definitely also hoping it will be used for touch screen games docked. We'll have to wait and see.
