@Budda Maybe, but that doesn't really make a good gimmick though. Gimmicks usually do something different and unexpected to come up with wacky new mechanics. That would be more like a refinement than a gimmick.
Recently there has been new stuff regarding the Switch 2 UI, and it appears that from some Reddit, someone already found the Switch 2 UI and there will also be an app called Vidmiio.
Regarding the UI thing, they said it was gonna be a modernized version of the Wii U UI and animated backgrounds and music would return. It would also show 10 row tiles at once and 6 tabs, so basically 60 tiles in total. Username is shown on the left, but the UI might not allow multiple at once. Possible login feature?

Have you seen if anyone thinks this is not made up? when it was first posted the famiboards laughed it off because the poster had made an account the day before and because there have been so many fake UI leaks. Also, it broke that Reddit thread's rules because there was no source.
Darn. A lot of the hardware leaks seem to be credible but it's hard to tell if any of the few software ones are.
Yeah, the problem is it's very easy to fake a UI because there are no limits to what can be done. If you dismiss something you're only doing it because of subjective judgements about how you think the UI should work. And there's nothing stopping Nintendo from doing something you don't like
With the hardware stuff in order to fake it you have to either Photoshop or manufacture it. And there are obvious tells for both. The dock leak people were diving into the patterns on the plastics to determine the manufacturing process was injection moulded for example. Not to mention there are technical details on things like PCBs that you have to get right

@MrCarlos46 But still...why? I don't see how this is beneficial over the current system at all. Honestly I find the whole Wii U / 3DS setup to be quite outdated and I'm glad they moved on with the Switch.
@Buizel Honestly, I’d prefer if the Switch 2 UI keeps the simplicity of the Switch UI but brings back themes with more colors and maybe even game backgrounds, as well as UI music (default theme might be an animated one).
@MrCarlos46 Same tbh, I could even do without backgrounds/themes myself, although I get that they're a popular request and the ability to change the colour tint of the icons does sound cool.
But in terms of functionality? I think the Switch UI is perfectly fine as-is. Just let me see my most recently played games, and in the odd case I want to play something else I can find it in the full library page.
The main thing I'd like to see is a quick-resume function as on XBox Series.
@Ulysses
I've said it before but I'll say it again. People have seriously underestimated the value of these features NVidia is pushing in terms of low power devices. Both DLSS but also VRR before it. So much has been made about how they can be used for the high end, because that's where they landed. But it's the low power devices where these things will truly shine
Exciting times ahead

One thing they should fix tho is the eShop so it can run better than how it does on Switch. Not sure if it will be an app again tho.
While they’re at it, they could give it a redesign and bring in new features, like a shopping cart feature, as well as rating/review, gifting, and filtering features, as well as music like with the UI (assuming Switch 2 brings back UI music).
So CES started and it turns out they don't have a Switch successor console unit (figured). They made a mock-up based off of the schematics, which is probably how they're planning to get around the NDA issues. Chances are they most likely didn't even sign an NDA, and are just using the leaked schematic data from the first factory leak in order to make their accessories. What's curious though is that the joycon they have look very similar to the actual joycon. At least what we perceived as the actual joycon.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight Only Nintendo knows the actual design and we might have to wait for them to show it off.
Also with based on how the Joy-Cons are gonna have black shells, colored rails and then also be colored under the joystick, I’m just hoping they at least put color on the button symbols.
