Genki (the company showcasing accessories right now) is saying that the Switch 2 is most likely releasing in April of this year. They're saying as well that multiple other companies that make accessories are all in agreeance that it'll happen. I wouldn't take their word as gospel though given that it isn't official- but it's still interesting to note that there's a possibility the system is going to be revealed either at the end of this month or sometime next.

Another thing that I find interesting about the articles I've been reading on the subject is that the reason Genki can showcase this system without it officially being revealed is due to them not having a partnership with Nintendo at all. Therefore they're not going to get punished or penalized by Nintendo for breaking an NDA, as they never even agreed to an NDA in the first place. On top of that they mentioned that the way they ended up getting an actual unit for the console is all due to a black-market of stolen Switch 2 units from the production line. They made a dummy console for the event, but showcased the actual console with accessories on it- including the dock in a video presentation.

@MrCarlos46 Agreed. Just gotta wait things out a bit more.

I think if Nintendo was worried about trying to reveal Switch 2 before too many leaks, they would've already revealed it. It seems that we're at the point that it's typical to be getting multiple leaks within the same day.

The rumors are probably true about getting an Xenoblade X announcement this week (most likely today), but I still think we'll get Switch 2 announced before Super Bowl and the Nintendo investor meeting in February.

@PikminMarioKirby Agreed, they would have planned months and months ahead of time as to how they would reveal the Switch 2 and how to intertwine it with other announcements/releases like Donkey Kong and Xenoblade.
Late January does make the most sense especially when you take the investors meeting into account.

sigh My heart says it will be announced today but my head knows its gonna be a damn Xenoblade trailer lol

Anti-Matter

Imagine after all the leaked rumours situation outside and suddenly Nintendo speak out with thunderclap like Madame Morrible to clear out the situation and revealed the Switch 2.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

We'll get to the Q&A portion of the investor meeting in February. One question will ask, "can you speak more about upcoming hardware?" Furukawa will respond with, "we'll have more to say about upcoming hardware soon. Please look forward to it."

And then we'll be in March...still without an announcement.

So Furukawa already debunked the holiday sales theory, the worry that announcing Switch 2 over the holiday season would negatively affect Switch 1 sales.

I'm wondering if maybe they didn't reveal Switch 2 last year because while the reveal would be exciting for plenty of Nintendo fans, it would put investors more on edge than silence would. So for example Mario Kart is nowhere to be seen but there is a brand new 3D F-Zero inbound, 3D Mario is nowhere to be seen but there is a brand new Star Fox inbound, Pokemon is nowhere to be seen but Eternal Darkness returns.

@Grumblevolcano I assume there there was just little point in revealing it last year unless it was launching really early this year.

We got a pretty early trailer for the Switch but that was a brand new idea that basically sold itself in concept alone. If the new system is basically the same design but just better then it's probably better to not show it off at all until they're ready to talk about all the specifics.

How did I suddenly remember this fake New Switch XL video while we’re waiting for the Switch 2 reveal?
The Mario part gets me 😂, because no way that’s actually Super Mario Odyssey. Mario ain’t even that tall.

Imagine that is basically how the Switch 2 reveal video goes.

It’s also likely they’ll wait until the next fiscal year to announce it and release it by November.

@MrCarlos46

That's my assumption. End of March, Nintendo announces the Switch 2 Presentation date. June, Nintendo has their Switch 2 Would-Be-E3 Presentation, preorders open. Switch 2 releases in Q3...October, November, or December. Naturally, I would like to have it sooner than Holiday 2025, but I'm a pessimist.

No way it would release in December because Holiday 2025 would already be in full swing by then. September is more likely than December.

@BenAV Nintendo's strategy makes it seem like launch is far away like September earliest but stuff like what's happened at CES makes it seem like launch is much nearer like April.

That disconnect makes it feel like the software lineup is very much not what you'd expect if it does release earlier.

Well, looks like those January 8th reveal rumors were wrong. It's just getting rediculous that they won't reveal the thing.

Youtubers want you clicking on their videos through January. I would be very surprised getting a reveal in January. It's such a come down month.

@GrailUK Are we playing the same waiting game that we would for a Direct? Announcement before 2PM UK time (was is it 3PM?) on a Tuesday or Wednesday for the day after?

I can't remember all the rules of a Direct announcement!!

MarioBrickLayer

GrailUK

@MarioBrickLayer I have no idea. I just no whenever there is one, I always know about it without all this nonsense lmao. Weird.

If they’re wanting to focus on DK and Xenoblade right now, don’t expect a Switch 2 reveal until the end of March. With that, the Switch 2 will likely not come out until the second half of 2025, July being the earliest, September being the most likely if it goes that route, and November being the latest. A December 2025 release is unlikely as the holiday season will already be in full swing by then.
