Topic: Nintendo Switch 2

My Walmart preorder got charged today and says shipping soon, so I’m very hopeful this is actually going to work. Sorry to those who have been cancelled!

Not getting the Switch 2 on launch, but I still plan on getting it some time after.

Speaking of which, it was revealed that the Switch 2 would come with a preinstalled film later on the screen, but it would still be recommended to install a real screen protector too. The good thing is you don’t need to remove the film later to add a screen protector.

@CJD87 appreciate the recommendation. I commute 3 days/week, so a slim case is perfect for me.

Does anyone have a screen protector recommendation? I tried it once for my Switch, and it was a disaster - ended up throwing it away because I couldn’t get it straight or on the switch without bubbles.

My Walmart preorder previously said "arrives by Jun 14" but today it says "arrives by Jun13", getting closer!

@Quantumz00 Presumably, there will be no noticeably benefit from higher data transfers. On steam deck, when Witcher 3 runs from microSD card (90MB/s) it loads in about the same time as from m.2 ssd. it is acces time which really makes difference. On Switch 2, the main benefit will be greater computation power which will shorten "loading" (aka processing) times...

After the Switch 2 first boot got leaked someone else also leaked the setup and system settings. The original video no longer exists someone archived it and reuploaded it.

In that second one since they showed off the serial number, yup, they’re gonna be tracked down by Nintendo ninjas after this 😭😭

Walmart is not canceling pre-orders unless your bank is flagging the charge and you don’t check.

@MrCarlos46 From the way this guy is talking though, he got this system legitimately it seems? Just that they shipped the console a few days early? He was saying how the game he got ended up being delayed in another order.

Insane to think we’re around 73-ish hours from the Switch 2 drop here in the Eastern side of the US. Felt like just the other day we weren’t sure if the Switch 2 was gonna truly be a thing or not

Depends on where the bottleneck is. If you have compressed assets and a slow CPU the limitation will be on the CPU. Which is where most Switch games seem to hit a wall. But if you have uncompressed assets or a fast CPU or hardware acceleration for file decode then the storage speed becomes the limit. Which is where the improved performance of Switch 2's storage subsystem will come into play

With the BotW/TotK Switch 2 editions? I would assume it's a bit of both. The game just by itself should load faster because of the better processing power. Which might mean the slower Switch card might now be the bottleneck.... but maybe not, the game has new assets for the Switch 2 edition. These won't be on the original Switch card, the performance of the original Switch card might not even come into play

@MrCarlos46 Ehh, I doubt they'll go after him. The other switch 2 cases were people who either stole a console, or who bought from a vendor who stole/got from a friend who sold them stock illegally days earlier than the console was meant to come out.

I just read that the Switch 2 does NOT need the day one patch to play Switch 2 exclusive games which is awesome. Apparently, the day 1 patch is for Switch 1 backwards compatibility and additional features.

And day 1 patch will be needed to access eShop as well, because any version below 20.0.0 version would ask update console to latest version aka to at least 20.0.0 version when you will try use eShop cause it's now minimal required version for it, at least that how it works on NS1 now. And Pre-Order and first days/weeks NS2 will come out with 19.0.0 version, so!
Just 3 days left, if non of things in my Pre-Order gets delayed aka delays send out to me from the shop I Pre-Ordered, till I upgrade from Mew to Mega Mewtwo Y! xD

The Nintendo Today app this morning outlining backwards compatibility and specifically calling out improved performance and load times. Not just of games with updates but more broadly as part of backwards compatibility

I’m still putting my OLED in storage, but I caved and decided to keep all my Switch 1 games in my cases for continued access.

MAYBE I will actually revisit some old games… maybe.
