@Haruki_NLI ....Why is the option there to begin with?...Weird...lol
Anyways yeah been bouncing back and forth between games, Kingdom is one of them, with HDR turned off it looks so much better now. (...and the nights are kinda creepier and darker now, ugh...lol)

Went so hard in Ys X: Proud Nordics last night. About to hit Chapter 5 already. One thing I'll say- it's insanely addictive, but I had to turn the difficulty down to Easy for this giant sandworm boss. The boss fights have been insanely difficult in this game, to the point Idk how I even won some of them, and I've died quite a bit. But that sandworm was impossible. And bosses have been damage sponges.
I may just leave it on Easy, even though it makes normal combat too easy as a result.
Sony charged for most of their upgrades. The Last of Us, Ghosts of Tsushima, God of War, Spiderman, Horizon, it was all paid $10 upgrades.
There have been some games with free upgrades from them, which is always nice. But there have been free upgrades from Nintendo also. I would say Sony does a better job with their upgrades though. That's one thing they've always excelled at.
@Joeynator3000
As mentioned, never force HDR for games not designed for it. Keep it set to "Compatible Games Only". No idea why they provided the option for all software. Perhaps as a failsafe if HDR isn't activating for a compatible game, you can fall back on that to force it. That's the only reason I can think of.
Fallout 4 has a 30, 40 and 60 fps mode. Absolutely love that they've included a 40 fps mode!
Unfortunately, there's no gyro or mouse. And, you already know...
NO GYRO, NO BUY YO!
If they update it and patch gyro in like Indiana Jones will have, and like Doom, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein 2, Wolfenstein Youngbloods and Skyrim had, I'll be on it.

Go back and finish the post-game stuff in Donkey Kong Bananza (there's not a lot left, but there's some)
Restart and leisurely play Xenoblade Chronicles X NS2 Edition to completion
Play Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave whenever it comes out
I was originally gonna play TotK S2 Edition as well, but I don't think there's time in the year for two gigantic Monolith Soft open world games, so I'll save that for 2027.
If Pikmin 4 gets a Switch 2 update, that gets priority over most of this list, though. I've been eager to play that game, but I want to do it in upgraded form, and I simply believe there's no way we're not seeing a performance/resolution enhancement down the line.
@JaxonH Horizon Forbidden West offered a free upgrade to the PS4 edition of the game, because they'd promised it the year prior before it was delayed. You're right that GOW Ragnarok wasn't a free upgrade, but it did offer a pretty meaty free expansion to the game at no cost.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
@Ralizah
Think it was Horizon Zero Dawn I paid $10 to upgrade. I got the Collector Edition of Forbidden West with the game so I never needed to upgrade that one. There were a whole bunch I paid to upgrade, actually. Close to half a dozen iirc.
Not that I minded. Nor do I mind with NS2 upgrades. If it's not worthwhile, the original releases still play fine, and with better performance by maxing framerate and resolution without drops. But I always go for the upgrades if given the choice.
My brother is also waiting for a Pikmin 4 NS2 Edition. He's been interested in getting into the series ever since I raved about Pikmin 3 back in the Wii U era. Pretty sure it'll get one at some point. In fact, I imagine most Switch games will see upgrades over the span of this generation.
I got halfway through Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and halfway through Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but got sidetracked with Mario Tennis Fever, and then Xenoblade Chronicles X NS2 Edition, and now I'm knee deep into Ys X: Proud Nordics. And I can already predict that's going to be interrupted by Resident Evil 7, Village and Requiem.
Seems I can never finish a game before getting sidetracked by a new one. I did actually jump back into Zelda Tears of the Kingdom NS2 Edition since I never finished it on Switch, and it was so much more enjoyable with a locked 60 at UHD. It was still great on Switch, but now that it's on Switch 2, that's for sure the way to experience it.
@JaxonH I'm with you on the no gyro piece - but I think with a game like Fallout I can get along without it... played through 3 on the XBOX 360, and really loved it. The nature of the shooting is less reliant on gyro than most FPS games. However, I will not be picking this game up for at least 2-3 months due to the RE games. Maybe by the time I am ready for it, gyro will be patched.
@rallydefault
I wasn't that impressed by Pac World (never played the 2nd). But then again I was never impressed with Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Kirby or Ratchet and Clank either (though the most recent 3D Kirby and Ratchet and Clank games were pretty good... exception for 2D Kirby being Planet Robobot- Idk what it was about that game but I loved it).
Metroid Prime 4 is fantastic. Temper expectations with regard to labyrinthine map design with intricate backtracking, but most everything else is fire. Endearing characters, great graphics, peak gameplay, top-shelf music, crazy fun boss battles and it really does scratch the itch and fills that Metroid Prime sized hole in the heart. Doesn't reach the heights of Prime 2, but still, it's definitely a good time and worth a play through.
Mouse mode is actually really fun if you have the True Mouse Accessory from Etsy and do some strategic button remapping to accomodate using Right Joycon as a mouse (like assigning Scan Visor to L3 click and re-assigning the L3 grapple to R3 click since it isn't used as often).
@Lazz
I should probably do the same tbh. Only opened it to have a way to easily share videos rather than uploading to YT, but it's become a miserable wasteland of bickering, console warring, never-ending propaganda narratives, and complaining, complaining, complaining.
I feel happier on days I stick to the forums, unless I keep my use minimized to like 5 min a day just to check on news and use as a tool.

Yeah I need to get a mouse accessory thing to give that a try again. Gave Mouse Mode a try once with Plants vs Zombies, and holy crap my hand cramped up after like, I dunno...30 minutes. >_>

Oh my gosh... I've finally went and done it. I've spoiled myself.
I can now tell the difference between 60 fps and 120 fps thanks to Ys X: Proud Nordics. Yes I tinkered with 120 fps in Metroid Prime 4 and could notice there, but I figured it was just because it was in first person. I put in 10 hours into Ys X last night at 60 and all was well. But today I put 5 hours in at 120, both handheld and docked, and now going back to 60 seems stuttery by comparison.
I always feared this day would come. Used to be able to play at 30 and could barely even tell the difference between it and 60. Now here I am, all these years later, and I'm becoming the framerate snob I've always resented. Well, I won't say "snob". I play plenty of games at 30 without issue. Final Fantasy 7 Remake feels smooth. But still, I can definitely tell the difference with 120 now. It really does look and feel how I used to view 60 during the Switch generation.
Yup. I've gone and wrecked myself now.
@Joeynator3000
This is the only one that extends the face buttons outward so your thumb naturally rests on them without contorting your grip.
welcome to the club. try not to become one of those people who complain if a game can't hit 240fps otherwise it looks like garbage, you may not be that now but it always sneaks up on you
remember; your chicken parm is not safe around me!
Hell yeah!! Watched the Treehouse Live (the singleplayer portion at least) and it looks super hype, and there's defo hints on the story and stuff.
Gods, I'm so excited for this game Probably will preorder soon (it's like, 8 more days until release...), but getting more info will be good too, so I'm waiting.
But still super excited about it anyway!! 2 more days (+ 10 hours) until Pokemon Presents too
@JaxonH That's a particularly good deal, since that's a pretty extensive remaster of the original PS4 game visually.
Yeah, it can be easy for me to fall into that trap of half-finishing games when new stuff I'm interested in drops, so, at least for story-based games (doesn't matter how far I get into Mewgenics, for example, because the game has almost no story and is structured around playing hundreds and thousands of times), I'm trying to actually finish things when I start them before launching into new stuff (with limited success; I have a number of games going at the moment!)
At least for Switch, I want to focus on one thing at a time, and use the release of Nintendo Switch 2 Editions as a guide toward slowly whittling down the backlog.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
I've had a 120 fps monitor for my PC for over a decade and yes, it makes a big difference in really fast action games, particularly if you've got mouse controls, precision platforming or just anything where the game is so twitchy that a few milliseconds of reaction time makes a difference.
So far as the Switch 2 goes, Hades 2 (docked) and Silksong would be the stand outs in that department so far. Metroid Prime 4 is technically impressive, but I don't think the gameplay really needs it. That's more of a personal preference, I'd say.
Otherwise, I'll generally take image quality over framerate. You don't really need life sims, strategy games, RPGs visual novels, etc. to run that fast, and it's not like the Switch 2 is so powerful that there won't need to be trade-offs either.

All my games so far have had free upgrades where ps5 versions are available. I've had a few where there is no full upgrade and you just get the upgrade of running in enhanced ps4 mode, i,e, PS4 Pro resolution or better. I have noticed though that games like Super Stardust strip out 3D modes from games. There is no support for 3D televisions at all not even 3D Bluray movies. So far that is my only disappointment with PS5.
@BonzoBanana
I wish 3D (particularly glasses-free 3D) caught on. Would have loved to have a 4k 3D Blu-Ray collection rather than just a 4k Blu-Ray collection. We should have had standardized 3D TVs and 3D streaming by now. Unfortunately it had its shot and isn't coming back. The dream of glasses-free 4k TVs with 3D film content is gone forever, as is glasses-free 3D HD handheld gaming.
@Matt_Barber
Can't say it's made a difference in gameplay for me, to where it improves how I perform in-game. It's more that it just makes turning the camera feel super smooth, so it feels more enjoyable.
In Ys X: Proud Nordics, it's actually wild how similar the graphics are between the 60 fps and 120 fps modes. Draw distance is slightly decreased for 120 fps Performance Mode, and doesn't fade in as smooth, but the draw line is only like 5% shorter than normal so you don't notice unless you're testing back and forth looking for it (which I did). I also noticed slightly more tree foliage in the distance, such a small amount you'd never notice without screenshot comparisons (which I did), and ever so slightly lower resolution.
But overall it looks 95% the same, it just feels butter turning the camera. That's what I like about it. Ironically, I can't tell the difference in games like Silksong or Hades 2. Only full 3D games where you can freely swing the camera around.
