I also don't have a Switch 2 yet. Can I just sign in when I do get it with my main account and download the saved games? I really don't want to ditch my Switch 1 completely. I really don't want to lose my Island in ACNH, and I also don't want to redownload all the indie games that I have on it.
I'm also not completely mentally awake at the moment, so I might be completely misreading things.
The automatic transfer process with auto-redownload set to off is probably the easiest way to do this assuming you want your animal crossing island to move to a Switch 2. Your Animal Crossing island and your acount settings will transfer over but your original Switch will still have everything except your animal crossing and pokemon save files.
Honestly, I'm okay with keeping it on my original Switch. Of course, I share that island with my girlfriend, so I'd have to check with her about that to be honest. I'm constantly changing my mind whether or not I still want to use my Switch 1 when I get my Switch 2. Part of it is because I have so many indie games downloaded and part of it is because it'll be easier to bring my Switch 1 to family and friends' houses to play games like Jackbox and whatever else I have that they don't. They have Switches, so the docks are already there. All I have to do is transport my Switch and games to play.

Hi guys. Is it safe to use Electronic Wipes on the Switch 2 screen? I have some that I use on my Laptop and TV Screens, just wondering if it was also safe to use them on Switch 2. Thoughts and help appreciated
@Haruki_NLI
Just got Armatus announced today, too. Pretty rad looking game, one of those AAA graphics games from a AA studio.
Compared to the 3rd party support we had 5 months into Switch, it's night and day. And even Switch support ramped up considerably after a year or two on the market. If this is the support we're seeing now, just imagine what it's gonna be like next year or the year after.
Just read an excerpt from the Metroid Prime Trilogy art book, and it seems Prime 4 is the game Tanabe has been wanting to make going all the way back to Prime 2! A game focusing on rescuing Galactic Federation troopers. Which, in hindsight, makes sense thinking about the soldiers in Prime 2 that were stranded and dying on Planet Aether in the beginning area. The idea was there.

Idk. It's plastic, which alcohol can fog up. So I wouldn't. A water dampened tissue followed by dry tissue should be enough. Then again screen protectors include cleansing wipes which (may?) contain alcohol? Idk. I wouldnt risk it though without a quick goog to verify safety.
Instead, get a tempered glass auto-application screen protector. The oleophobic coating resists smudges and fingerprints so they wipe off easily. And you won't have to worry about damaging the screen.

@rallydefault I tried a few minutes of it - didn't really notice any big differences. For some reason, I put the game down at the very end of the last DLC, so any time I pick up that save file, I get killed instantly. I can't remember how to do anything . I'm going to wait for a SW2 version (it's gotta be coming, right?) where I'll probably replay it, because it's such a fantastic game. Between it and Cyberpunk, 2 of the best games ever made, IMO.
Hi guys. Between Air Riders and Sonic Racing Crossworlds, which do you guys recommend getting? I was leaning toward Kirby AR, but saw the video review on IGN, and it said that you automatically speed up, and also has a bit of a learning curve? I never played the original on Gamecube. Also, debating if I should get Red Dead 1 as it has a S2 upgrade coming soon. Thoughts and help appreciated
@JaxonH Returnal is in my top 5 of all time, and the trailer for Armatua really caught my attention (!) I really hope that the Switch launch is able to keep up with PS/XB in terms of performance... these kind of games really need a smooth frame rate
December's quite a crazy month this time around. Prime 4 is a real thing, there's quite a lot of 3rd party support releasing that month and then you have the mystery of the Game Awards. Will it be the first non-Nintendo event to have big 3rd party support for Switch 2?
@CJD87
I'm confident framerate won't "keep up with" other more powerful stationary consoles, but as with all demanding 3rd party on NSW2, it should lock down a stable 30fps. If Star Wars Outlaws can lock down stable 30fps (and we'll soon see Assassin's Creed Shadows which I expect to likewise lock down 30fps), I see no reason Armatus can't do the same. I just wouldn't expect 60fps for such titles. Which is fine, as long as it's stable.
But who knows. Maybe they'll work a miracle and achieve 60 somehow. I'm not counting on it though.
@JaxonH I'd take a stable 30fps happily. In all honesty, if I can be guaranteed a rock solid 30 then I genuinely am pretty happy. Looks like it could be a really cool game, nice to see Switch2 in the conversation for this also.
@CJD87
So far I've been reasonably impressed with Switch 2 game performance from 3rd parties. There's only been two games thus far that didn't hold a stable 30, and both of them only had minor issues. Daemon X Machina is 30 most of the time with a couple frames dropped here and there. And I hear Persona 3 Reload had some drops, but I havent noticed anything so far. Either its too minor to notice or its during non-gameplay scenes. And that was just due to being rushed out with the promise of patches to iron it out after. I suppose theres also Cyberpunk but that game holds 30 just fine unless you're intentionally stress testing it in the expansion. Just playing normal, especially in the base game, is fine. And you can always lean on performance mode if needed.
The big games you'd expect issues with if it were Switch 1, run great! Street Fighter 6, all 3 Yakuza games, Cyberpunk, Star Wars Outlaws, Split Fiction, Hitman, Hogwarts Legacy, they all hold 30 or 60 very well, depending which they're targeting. If Assassin's Creed Shadows drops and runs as well as Star Wars, followed by Final Fantasy VII Remake, I think we can safely say there shouldn't be any problems this generation, unless devs are unskilled or rush a game out.
@JaxonH In fairness, the 3rd party support 'out the gate' has been reasonably strong for Switch2.... and I feel that each positive reference / impressive port can work as a testimonial to entice similar levels of optimisation from devs for future titles.
Funnily enough, I actually think SW Outlaws will be a large catalyst for Switch2 adoption via third parties. Remarkably, it would seem that Switch2 has been some kind of renaissance-conduit for that game - breaking it into a brand new audience, and allowing it the time/scope to have a degree of success that wasn't available during the slightly rockier original launch.
I expect FF7 remake to run pretty well, and this should hopefully bolster more enthusiasm from the third parties.
Where's your money at for BG3? I played on Steamdeck at launch, and it was a little ropey... but in my opinion definitely 'playable'. I understand now that some legend at Larian spent their personal time developing a native build/patch for the deck, and the performance is greatly improved. So surely Switch2 could/would be viable? Imagine a quality port of BG3, mouse controls et al, could be a gamechanger?
I'm a pretty sure the Switch 2 will get a port of BG3, given that we already got a solid port of Divinity: Original Sin 2 for the Switch (so Larian already knows how to adapt their engine for this kind of hardware), and also because the mouse mode is such a natural fit for a CRPG like this one.
@CJD87
Definitely. They brought Divinity Original Sin 2 to the original Switch and somehow made that work. Baldur's Gate 3 would be a relatively easy port for Switch 2. I'd be shocked... no. I'd be amazed if that game wasn't already in development as we speak, mouse support and all.
The 3rd party support in Q1 2026 honestly is absolutely fantastic, with FFVII Remake Intergrade, RE Requiem, and Monster Hunter Stories 3 being the headliners.
I'm honestly more excited for those 3 games than Nintendo's 1st party lineup for the quarter. Requiem in particular I'm absolutely ecstatic about. Game looks fantastic, and not far off visually from the PS5 version.
As far as the rest of the year goes, I think there's going to be multiple high profile releases, both new games and ports. Death Stranding Director's Cut is one that I'm expecting in particular.
