@JaxonH Hi! I am Nath. Sorry, I am never able to join, usually just bad timing for me (and a lil bit of social anxiety lol.) I would love to be able to chat with you one of these days soon! Its a great feature and I def wanna use it more.
@Starburst
Oh good to know! I have about thirty friends and the majority of them I met on this website, but most of them have names that aren't the same as their N-Life username. Some are the same, but most aren't, so it gets really difficult remembering who is who. It would be different if I knew everyone in real life but just trying to match up usernames with names can get a little confusing.
Believe me when I say I'm a recluse nowadays- I have so much social anxiety I don't even like going to the gas station anymore. But it's different with game chat if it's people on my friends list who I've at least had conversations with on here. So they're not complete strangers that I've never spoken with or anything. I don't think I would ever be up for just chatting with randoms although I did do it once back on PS4 with Monster Hunter World. And back on Wii U with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Played 48 hrs straight in a lobby with 3 people in Germany who spoke English but with an accent. And we talked the whole 2 days lol. But I wouldn't do that anymore.I don't think 😀
One thing I like about game share is you can chat even though you're playing different games. But I have Split Fiction and I've been dying to play with someone. It comes with a friend pass so any other person can download the friend pass and play for free with me which is really awesome given it's an expensive game (and 70 GB). My brother keeps saying he's going to play with me but he never does. I hear it's incredible though.
But ya, I'm also playing Star Wars. Gamechat screen sharing seems awesome for asking for tips and saying oh, youre at this point in the game, I'm here. You're about to come up on a tricky part which I can help you with. Or just conversate about the game in general.
I'm just surprised so few in my friends list have set up game chat. Cuz it only lists 8 people and it says the rest still need to set it up. Maybe it's intimidation like you mentioned. But I'm the same way, and even I found it to be an incredibly exciting feature. When the system first launched I did several gamechats with Uli- we were playing different games. But just inviting somebody and having them hop on to chat for a little while and screen share was so cool.I couldn't help but wonder why everyone isn't doing it. Especially since it's only people on your friends list. It's not like random people invite you to chats or anything.
It'll be perfect for Monster Hunter. Or if anyone ever buys Wild Hearts S I'd be down to play with them. Hunting with Chat is something special. When I first got my Wii U my Xbox fanboy coworker kept going on about wanting to play MH. Bought a Wii U just for MH3U. He's the one who taught me how to play the game. We used to hunt after work for hours, every single day for months and months, always voice chatting since that one game had built in voice chat on Wii U.
I miss those days. Nobody is playing Rise anymore. But if anyone here ever picks it back up, I've still got a lot of end game content to do in Sunbreak. I beat Amatsu and then got distracted by other games.
Lots of good co-op stuff though. Zombie Army 4 and Sniper Elite 4 allows co-op for the entire campaign. Absolutely incredible. Haven't played much Mario Kart either which is great MP fun. Fantasy Life i is super addictive too. I'm pretty sure that game allows up to 4 people to play together.
And Resident Evil Revelations 2 RAID mode- that rocks! I beat the first game on 3DS. For that game, you had to beat each level solo offline to unlock it for RAID mode. So I beat the game and then did the entire game again in co-op online with my brother in RAID mode. But Rev2 has bespoke RAID stages and its all available from the get go. Insane amount of fun to play. And RE5 is co-op too. I was just playing that a second ago in fact. Works solo too, but I bet it shines with 2 players working together.
Oh and Splatoon 3, the mp game of all mp games (besides Monster Hunter). What I like about it is the fact you can do Turf Wars competitively or Salmon Run cooperatively.
@JaxonH for not setting gamechat up, it's also possible they don't have the right country for it. Nintendo weirdly limited the allowed phone number, and as I don't want to accidentally locked myself out of the account down the line because I bought a 1-week use US phone number or something, I decided to not register my own as well. (This is just fear they might demand you have 2FA with sms or something, which will be awful without the phone number)
@JaxonH Of course! Sorry about the username confusion I can see that making things difficult.
But yeah, id love to voice chat with ya sometime and play something. I always pick up most, if not all Nintendo releases, and love Monster Hunter as well. I actually have the RE Revelations games as well but have never played them. I have only used chat once or twice with close friends of mine and was very impressed with it. Its a pretty awesome feature. I cant play split fiction with you unfortunately cause I promised my partner I would play it with her, she would not be happy with me lol.
Funnily enough I also used voice chat back on the Wii U playing MH3U a TON. Absolutely adore that game, and MH in general. I love rise! I didnt end up picking up Wild Hearts S, I played the demo but it didnt really grab me like MH does. I am curious to hear your opinion on it though and if you think its worth grabbing from someone who also enjoys MH?
Star Wars is a ton of fun, I actually beat it on Xbox back when it first launched, super underrated game. So glad the switch 2 port is running good!

Nintendo does offer 2FA but gives phone, email or authenticator app as options. Don't think registering your phone enables 2FA. Signing into your Nintendo Account has its own settings. So its separate, I can confidently say that much.

@JaxonH yeah, I'm using it right now with an authenticator app
Just worried.that down the line they might demand the usage of both if they are registered or something. Which admittedly is a silly fear, but for now I can just play with friends through discord messaging so it works (i don't tend to have privacy to do voice chat anyway)
@JaxonH
Yea, the internet keeps getting darker, man.
I have just a few spots I stick to now.
People are just in this “thriving off drama” spiral that social media serves to draw out.
Cynically and ironically, it all goes back to money at the end of the day. These YouTubers know they make more from negative videos than positive videos. So… they make videos accusing Nintendo of being greedy… while being greedy themselves.
lol it’s so transparent and I don’t understand why people keep supporting it.
@Starburst
I actually think Wild Hearts S is the best MH genre game ever made that's not actually Monster Hunter. Its different for sure and admittedly I dont like the monster designs as much, but its got the gameplay in spades. The movement and move set just feels right, and while I didnt think the building aspect would be a good fit it actually is, and is what makes the game stand out. I view it as a unique mechanic similar to the wire bug in Rise.
My brother is the one who got me into it. He put in hundreds of hours on PC and I'm the one who got him into Monster Hunter originally. The Switch version changes the game to 4p co-op instead of just 3, but you don't have to max out when hunting. You can of course hunt in pairs or group of 3 if desired.
No gyro for ranged weapons so I avoid those (after maining Switch Axe in Rise and Great Sword in Sunbreak, I learned Bow for endgame Sunbreak and got REALLY good with it using gyro). The framerate is also uncapped but it actually feels smooth, as it does remain pretty stable.
If the demo didnt grab you Id hate to encourage a purchase because if you dont like it Id feel responsible for your money being wasted. But maybe watch this review to get a feel for why it appeals to me. SwitchUp are Monster Hunter fans so you're getting a perspective of another MH fan.
Always game for returning to Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak though. And you never played the RE Revelations games? The first is my favorite RE game to date. It's excellent. Even being an HD port of a 3DS game it looks good and its so fun. I highly recommend it- its not overly grotesque or scary which turns me off, but its just right. Because it was a portable title it was designed in "episodes" and each episode bounced between different characters with their own story playing out. And any time you save and start playing again later it'll have this cutscene that gets you caught up, it'll say like "recently in RE Revelations..." and give you a brief cutscene synopsis of the story you've played so far in the prior episode. So cool.
RE Revelations 2 is also episode based (in fact it was released by episode and only sold as a full game with all episodes once they all released). Most agree its not as good as the first and ya, I agree, but I still think it's really good. The RAID mode is better. I'd love to play RAID in the 1st game but Id have to beat it on Switch to unlock it all (the RAID stages unlock as you beat each episode but it's better to beat the game and unlock them all imo so you can play through uninterupted- on 3DS I would do an episode solo then next day play it RAID with my brother online, rinse and repeat for each episode).
The Switch versions of both RE Revelations games have gyro aiming (not with Pro Controller though- only joycon so use the grip if you want a pro controller experience). But split joycon you can also use motion gestures to reload (it detects IR sensor on right joycon if you make a reloading gesture). But I dont use that. Best on NSW2 which there is no IR sensor, but I use charge grip with rear buttons GL/GR and map B to right grip button since back + B = 180 turnaround, so I can do that without moving my right thumb off the analog.
Let me know how you like Split Fiction. Ill get someone to play eventually 😀 I tried It takes Two using 2 controllers and it was a blast. Wonder if that also had a friend pass?
But ya I'm not always looking to play MP, sometimes gamechatting while doing your own single player game is cool too. But I do miss playing MP which I haven't done since Splatoon 3 Salmon Run co-op (I seriously recommend Splatoon 3, it's insanely good).
You looking forward to Monster Hunter Stories 3? MH Stories 2 runs 60fps on NSW2 and is super fun. But this new one seems to be on another level. Climbing cliffs, swimming across water, flying in the air... and visually its like, wow.
@rallydefault
Money... and attention which is the currency of the internet nowadays. People make tweets talking crap about Metroid Prime or how evil Nintendo is for selling the VB peripheral or gloating about pirating Mario Galaxy on Steamdeck, even though its unplayable without a joycon to use gyro for the pointer- what are you gonna do, take your thumb off the analog and buttons to use the trackpad? Mapping gyro to the pointer in Dolphin is nearly impossible unless the game has already been modded to use a mouse like Primehack.
And every single tweet with some ignorant slam against Nintendo gets TOOOONS of likes. Ppl seen clapping on Nintendo is an easy W for scoring internet points and feeling popular. And it's spread like a cancer- the more people do it, the more people see that kind of stuff, which results in even more people doing it. And now it's just become completely overrun. Ill see 1 normal tweet for every 9 talking crap. I used to like perusing X to chat about games but now I dont even wanna open the app anymore.
The success of Switch really broke the fanboys. They saw NSW2 as a fresh opportunity for Nintendo to fail, but they did another hybrid which really pissed them off because its guaranteed success. They were desperately hoping they'd do some weird concept so they'd fail again. But it's destroying records which makes them hate it with a fervor. Its Switch Derangement Syndrome lol. Telling you, Switch 2 broke these people. They need a psychiatrist.

@JaxonH, I have to agree with you about the negativity being a little much. Yet I know that I'm a small part of the problem myself because I'm very vocal about Game Key Cards and the cancelation of the Western release of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth Collection. But I'm overall not a Switch 2 hater (the device itself and several of its games look awesome as heck), and I do intend on getting a Switch 2, most likely early next year, around springtime, assuming my upcoming first part time job goes well, and I am looking forward to several of the upcoming Switch 1 / 2 games. I'm also not making the rounds on social media, constantly spewing anger against Nintendo and anyone who likes Nintendo products. I only started using Instagram (currently my only social media) about a month and a half ago, and most of my posts are about anime I like. I try to be as positive as possible, though it is a bit hard sometimes 😃.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons
4: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
@JaxonH You‘re absolutely right, social media and it‘s rotten business model is ruining the internet and poisining any form of civil discourse on and off of it. Really liked this site because it was still a cool place to visit and interact. Right now I‘m kinda sick of it because NL instead of trying to contain it, is actually fanning the flames for engagement.
Can I charge my Nintendo Switch 2 with my 15W Samsung Galaxy Note9 charger?!
Can I charge my Nintendo Switch 2 with my 65W Asus ROG Phone 6 charger?!

@rallydefault You‘re right, the forum here isn‘t so bad. Just feels like the division on which social media feeds is currently seeping into every aspect of life and it gets to me. Just needed to vent a little.
@JaxonH I'll give that video a watch, maybe I'll try the demo again too and see if it clicks. I am looking forward to stories 3! I need to beat 2 still though, I should probably do that soon before 3 comes out. I didn't realize it was 60 FPS on switch 2, forgot it was uncapped. That is super cool.

I'm pretty happy with that Direct. I haven't played Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 (just started Galaxy 1 a few days ago but haven't gotten far), and I hear they're 2 of the greatest games ever made. So that's dope.
And Mario Tennis Fever honestly looks like the best sports game Nintendo has made... possibly ever. The adventure mode and trials mode and wacky mode and 30 fever rackets and 38 character roster... it seems so fully featured. And I loved Aces. I thought that game was terrific. But Fever for sure seems like its going to top it.
That new Yoshi looks fun. Definitely better than Crafted World. Idk if it'll reach the heights of Wooly World but I hope it does.
New Fire Emblem looks insane. Definitely related to Three Houses. The art style is perfect, and the character designs are definitely in the style of Three Houses rather than Engage. Combat Arts and Gambits return, but theres a new type of art that requires HP to use as well. And new mounts, way better animations (saw a dude get hit and knocked off his chariot and roll on the ground, it was awesome). This looks like the FE game we've been waiting for.
That Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined looks incredible. Not sure what else to say. That's a huge get. As is Final Fantasy 7 getting a release date and the entire trilogy being confirmed.
Metroid Prime 4 looked so dang good. I love that they're separating areas where you use the bike to traverse between. Bet there's secrets to find in those larger areas too- secret caves or passageways to find and explore.
Even Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment impressed me and Im not the biggest Warriors fan. I loved FE Warriors Three Hopes but I never played much of Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity due to framerate. This new one looks incredible though.
Even Dynasty Warriors Origin caught my interest. And again, Im not a big Warriors guy. Idk, it just looked good. And of course, Hades 2 needs nothing said about it. It looks as good as ever. Oh, and getting a release date for Monster Hunter Stories 3 was exciting.
Resident Evil Requiem looked crazy impressive. And getting RE7 and RE8 same day? Muah! I just hope theres gyro aiming. I'll be super disappointed if there's not. Heck, add mouse aiming too. Why not.
Not a big Pokémon fan but I did enjoy Arceus, so Legends Z-A has my attention. I dont like how samey it looks all being in a city, but I'm hoping it turns out to have some variety in areas within the city. At least it'll run well.
Persona 3 Reload getting a demo is hype too. Idk why more people aren't playing it (and the Trails In The Sky demo which is like 5+ hours of the game, all of which transfers to the main game). Persona 3 demo also transfers to the main game. I hear its several hours too. But cant confirm.
@ShieldHero
There's a huge difference between having legitimate complaints and just grifting negativity 24/7
Nothing wrong with being displeased about key carts. I dont like em either (though I don't really care much since I switched to digital anyways- I still buy physical if all on cart which imo just makes it cheaper and much easier to collect).
But theres nothing we can do to change it so the way I see it is, you can let it perpetually aggravate you the rest of the generation or, accept it and adapt. And personally I didnt want to feel upset all the time, so I accepted it and adapted.
I notice these people always default to the same crap- they complain about prices for every single game, no matter what it is. How many $70 games will release before they dont act all shocked about it? And the other thing they go after is 60fps. Every single game that's 30fps now they act like it's unplayable and should be 60 "because its 60 on PS5". Like, you're not gonna get comparable versions of current gen games that also run at 60. Maybe a few games are an exception but as a rule you shouldn't be expecting 60 every time. Whether its NBA 2k, Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy 7, etc. Switch 2 is about having those current releases but hybrid. Which often means cutting down the framerate and dialing visuals back a tad. If that's unacceptable then a hybrid platform probably isnt for them. I get criticizing games with actual framerate issues, but simply being 30 on a portable console that needs to make concessions is not the same.
@jfp
I avoid the main N-Life article comments cause its just console warring kids posting inflammatory remarks and instigating arguments. But the forums are largely a safe haven. Its why I post here so much- it's the only place Ive found with sane people who actually enjoy playing Nintendo games.

@SViper on handheld it's safe, but docked version iirc needs the nintendo charger for switch 2. (This is from what I remember of talking with someone else, and I have tried charging with Anker cables to good result)
