I dont think nintendo give sales data for digital purchases. So that 4% will be just key cards.

That 4% is just retail purchases of the standalone game.

It doesn't factor in the exclusive Generation Pack, which includes 7 and 8 for £20 more, which also sold at retail and sold out.

It doesn't factor in digital sales of the standalone game, not Generation Pack.

Also it's one country.

Sure you could argue "it sold out they didn't make many", but we don't know that.

Further, the standalone game was the worst deal for the system, by far. Just pick up all 3 for a little bit more. Or get them digitally. I know my partner bought the Pack, and since we seem to believe anecdotes are gospel, I hereby declare it sold really well.

Further, 4%...of what? Let's say... 1 million for a hypothetical? That means 40,000 physical copies of the standalone game. No digital, no Generation Pack. Just 40k standalone retail release of the one game.

I agree most don't, but that's because they're not bothered to. Most don't care, because they know they can just redownload if they ever needed to.

The ones who are worried and paranoid about it though, they absolutely would. It doesn't take much to copy/paste SD contents into a folder, after all.

You don't even need to format the SD. You just rip it out of the packaging, it's already formatted correctly from the manufacturer. Pop into PC, paste the files back onto it and you're good to go!

Ok, so you can just buy a new sd express card, put it in your pc to get the files, then put it in your Switch and it’s good to go?

When do you have to reformat sd cards?
