Metaphor is a lock. Already leaked for Switch 2. No way Persona 4 remake doesn't come over also. And Trails in the Sky 2nd and 3rd Chapter are getting remakes for Switch 2.
As for Cold Steel 1 and 2, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your POV) you'd need to pay $100 to get your Switch OLED modchipped to run them with English. But I recommend that anyways just because you can run every game with the 720-1080p docked image on the handheld screen and overclock so every game has stable framerate (be it 30 or 60). So there's good benefits to it besides just gaining access to Trails of Cold Steel 1/2 (and Yo-kai Watch remake and Yo-kai Watch 4 in English, if that's your jam).

@JaxonH Modding sounds cool but did you have to mod the hardware yourself or did you get a professional to do it for you.
I would pre order metaphor if it gets announced next direct, really enjoyed p3 reload on switch 2, Atlus are on a roll at the moment with their animations and cutscenes in their games, also metaphor would be a fit just because a lot of fire emblem fans would want to check it out.
@xenobladexfan
Paid for permanent hardmod chip installed. Etsy has services listed. $100 and 2 week turnaround it's all taken care of. Covers the chip, installation and shipping costs back to you. Best $100 I ever spent. So good, in fact, I did it again for my Switch Lite OLED (after Switch OLED). Then my brother had me send his in to get done too he was so impressed.
I think Atlus is giving space between P3R and MR. But it'll drop 2026 for sure, imo. Speaking of Fire Emblem, I'm on Ch. 14 in Path of Radiance on Switch 2, and just recently put the English versions of Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776 and Binding Blade on my chipped Switches. So hyped for Fortune's Weave!

@JaxonH I played p3 reload for about 135 hours and it was my favourite switch 2 exclusive game of 2025, my favourite character was Mitsuru Kirijo and I even bought the dlc, as I have now finished both I'm ready for Metaphor.
Also about the NSO, I have way too many games to get through at the moment I'm only 9 hours into trails beyond the horizon and I really need to get that game finished, I have 100% completed all prior falcom games on the switch.
Also thanks for letting me know about the etsy thing that sounds really cool.
@xenobladexfan
Ya, if you can swing $100, as a Trails and Persona fan, you'd get so much value from it.
All Trails games can output their docked "TV image" on the handheld screen, overclocked to support it and a bit extra to iron out drops so it's always a locked framerate.
I assume you're into Ys also. It makes Ys IX: Monstrum Nox run 720p handheld at a locked 30fps, even running around the city where framerate would normally tank and resolution was super blurry. If you ever decide to do it, let me know and I'll be happy to email you what you need to slap on your micro SD to do all that stuff.
I also have too many games but as a massive Fire Emblem fan, Path of Radiance has its hooks in me. I joined a group with 7 others from this site and we're on an $80/yr USD family plan for NSO+, where I PayPal the group admin $10 once every September and I'm covered for NSO+ for another year. Highly recommended because $10/yr for NSO+ is just too good not to partake in.

@JaxonH, I played Ys ix the other day on switch 2 and the frame rates have been fixed.
I do love both trails and persona, I played ys nordics last year and it was one of the best ARPG's I have ever played, really looking forward to proud nordics this year,
I played radiant dawn a couple of years ago and it was okay the only issue I had with it is the lack of support conversations, in terms of fire emblem, the 3ds games are my favourite.
As an Australian Falcom fan, I am extremely frustrated with the classification debacle of Trails Beyond the Horizon. For those not aware, the game has been refused classification in Australia, meaning it can't be sold here. By all accounts, the reason is because it includes simulated gambling.
This is the country where you can't watch 5 minutes of a sports match on TV without being inundated with gambling ads (of course, there's the disclaimer at the end: that'll stop the addiction!). It's the double standards that really frustrate me. Even if you deem the simulated gambling inappropriate for children (and there are multiple viewpoints on this: personally, the Game Corner of Pokémon Blue made me never want to so much as buy a Scratch-It ticket in adulthood), how is it reasonable to prevent anyone at all from buying it? I have historically been conflicted about people decrying censorship in games, as from my experience, a lot of that community seems to object to censorship of sexualization of what often can be seen to be children. I personally don't think that's appropriate in any context. But I'm frustrated that the Australian government thinks it's acceptable to advertise gambling openly on free-to-air TV, but at the same time outright ban a video game from sale because it includes gambling. The hypocrisy is palpable for me, at least.
Two independent layers of hypocrisy, I would say. There's the hypocrisy from the rating boards, who will apply ludicrously high age ratings for "simulated gambling" that involves absolutely no actual money, and often bares little if any actual resemblance to real world gambling. . . while doing precisely nothing about gacha games and MTX that don't use the superficial tools of real gambling, but do involve using actual random systems to extra real money from children. Because harsh "gambling bans" let them pretend they are doing something, without actually interfering with the cash flow of anyone important.
Then there's the hypocrisy of the "anti-censorship advocates", who barely can muster a tiny fraction of the time and effort that they muster whenever a female character gets slightly less revealing clothing. Because its never been about actual creative freedom for them, its about protecting their own supply line of female objectification.
My honest advice is that anyone who might seriously consider the possibility of acquiring and modding a Switch, just to play otherwise unrelated Falcom games? Really should consider that playing them on PC is a better move. Essentially everything Falcom has currently releases is available on PC, and with one exception its all available on GOG at that ( ie, the No DRM storefront ). And all the games not otherwise available on Switch? You can play them on a potato, no expensive gaming PC needed ( the first two Cold Steel games started life as Vita titles, to note ). If you have a non-gaming PC, then odds are you can already play all the stuff without any new hardware ( aside from maybe a controller pad ). If you don't, I'd bet you could still play them on an off-the-shelf PC that costs no more than a second Switch + modding.
( One of the things I like about Falcom: they are consistently resource-light. Even their newest games don't require particularly beefy hardware to play, because they don't feel the need to have a bajillion more pixels and polygons than needed for their art style. )
@BirdoDidNothingWrong
to be fair online discussion in english speaking spaces does skew heavily towards the US side of things (speaking as someone from outside the US) , its why the game corner being changed to remove gambling in heartgold was discussed more over a similar change in Platinum since the former also affected the US version of the game, even back in the day when violence in games was a bigger hot button i remember seeing discussion of things like the removal of the blood from scenes in Xenosaga Episode 3 and less so about similar changes to things like the violence in resident evil 4 in japan.
I am curious though if there are some EU or Australia specific falcom circles on the internet since it feels that would be the best bet.
Aren't game age rating classification boards supposed to, you know, rate games? Not block a country from accessing them? I've heard some rather concerning things about that kind of thing in Australia, like a game based off of the Hunter x Hunter anime being blocked from release there. That frankly doesn't sound much different from what China does, and that kind of thing just really disturbs me.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
@Mgalens that is really cool, thanks for checking that out for me, I have been way too busy playing trails beyond the horizon to check the crossbell games.
@BirdoDidNothingWrong, I feel really sorry for you pal, you could try to import trails beyond the horizon from the uk's nis europe store https://store.nisaeurope.com/products/the-legend-of-heroes-tr...
They have 10% stock left currently for the switch version and you may have to check if it would be worth buying from them, hopefully customs wouldn't seize the game,
As to mention the gambling element of the game, I started playing Trails games in 2021 and fully interacted with the casino/gambling elements in cold steel 4 and the crossbell games but I have never spent a single penny on gambling in real life, the trails games does absolutely nothing to get me intrusted in gambling.
The casinos are literally the same as players would find in dragon quest XI.
In terms of violence, the trails games rarely have any blood and zero gore and when blood does appear it does so in ways that is so unrealistic and there are entertainment that are way more scarier than kiseki/trails,
In my opinion all trails games should be rated 15+.
@xenobladexfan
I ended up stumbling on that thread looking for assorted topics on switch-2 and trails, though havent tried it myself yet it is nice to hear that the issue is fixed (did comment in said thread)
as for the age rating stuff, i noticed in europe the crossbell games are rated 18+ by PEGI and it seems to be 100% due to the casino, does make me curious if something changed around then since dragon quest XI also has a casino and was rated 12+ which seems to be more in line with other similar games (i think the rest of the trails games were too including the 4 cold steel games)
@Mgalens I have been collecting the series since 2021's release of cold steel 4 and it was a new rating rule that came in effect around 2022 because the crossbell games were the first Trails game that recieved 18+ rating only due to the casino, in Germany the games still recieve a fair rating due to the content of the game and not due to gambling see, USK, the German age rating agency website. https://usk.de/en/?s=Trails%20&jump=usktitle&post_typ...
I wish pegi would remove the gambling age rating rule because it makes the player have to do additional research, such as check the German or Japanese/US ratings to make sure the content of the game is suitable for them.
When I learnt the crossbell games in addition to all other games in the series recieved mild ratings such as Teen in US and 16 in Germany, I realised the content of trails is similar to other jrpgs that I enjoy such as xenoblade.
@xenobladexfan
Gonna be buying Ys X Proud Nordics on NS2 day one!
@metaphysician
Of course PC is always an option, but most people on this site are Switch fans and like the hybrid advantage and instant docking/undocking. And you don't need a 2nd. You can get your main NS chipped. No need to buy a spare. The games running on emuNAND are in a walled garden and has no impact on your system when you boot into official firmware normally. So $100 to get access to the missing Trails games in hybrid format, Yokai Watch remake and Yokai Watch 4 in English in hybrid format (if you're into Pokemon like games), access to all retro games in hybrid format including all the Fire Emblem games in English (the DS entries are especially great on Switch where you can do it all with buttons but also touch and also right analog as a mouse cursor and it even allows you to control it with gyro!).
So ya, I wouldn't say it's about gaining access to all Trails games as it is gaining access to hybrid handheld versions of all Trails games, and so much more. It also means overclocking while outputting the docked image on the handheld screen provides a much better experience of all Trails games on the system already, and fixes any framerate issues too.

@JaxonH I really enjoyed ys nordics, I completed the first game and I heard the new version has extra characters
I saw a fan on subreddit falcom, the other day, who bought all trails games on switch 1 and also ps vita and I wonder if it would be worth getting a vita in 2026 for a portable experience, mind the dog who is also in the picture as well.
@xenobladexfan
I was a day one Vita owner. Had the Collector Edition of Cold Steel and the 2nd game.
I'll be honest- Vita games look and run pretty terribly. I mean, Switch 1 has its problems but compared to how Vita games perform it's a Switch 2 by comparison (exceptions being smaller titles and select few games developed ground up for it).
I actually finally decided to sell my Vita and all my Vita games a few months ago. With Switch Lite (or NS OLED) having infinitely more games and power and can be chipped to output HD docked images on screen with stable frame rates across the board, I recommend that.
Unless something about it really attracts you, do what you feel is best. But as someone who owned one, and a New 3DS, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, Switch 2, etc, I really can't recommend it. Certainly not when NS Lite exists (I got a custom Switch Lite OLED with touchscreen support but even the LCD model is worth all the other benefits).
My first Ys game was Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana on Vita, and my first Trails game was Cold Steel on Vita. But they were pretty intolerable so I eventually got them on Switch (overclocked with docked image on handheld screen) and Steamdeck. But at this point I'm happy they're jumping on Switch 2 cause that's where I want to play games moving forward.
Look at Bandai Namco still releasing Tales of games without a NS2 version. I mean, I'm happy to run on a chipped OLED but I'd rather play on NS2.

@Mgalens trails from zero has been fixed, the prior issues I had with the FMVs has been totally fixed and I can now watch movies in the home menu.
This probably means that the issues with all the other Falcom games are also fixed, since AFAIK they all arose from the same issue of FMV codecs. At the least, I can't imagine a way that you could fix them on one game but not the others.
@xenobladexfan
oh yeah while i hadn't got the movie gallery unlocked in zero (forgot what i spent those unlock points on) i did fire it up for a sec to double check and played through the first few minutes and the train FMV played unlike prior to the update where people said they didnt see it.
I did play a good amount of Azure mainly on my file on the last chapter and the FMV where a certain spoiler-thing appeared played correctly.
is lovely to see that they now seem to be fixed.
on the subject of falcom and switch-2 i am definitely curious to see what the "Port" they mentioned ends up being since it feels like most of the newer (vita onwards) falcom games are on the switch or switch 2 (would be nice if its the missing in the west, cold steel games) though it could also be a game getting a switch 2 version, for me i do hope the Daybreak games get that treatment since having them on par with horizon would be amazing and those seem like the bare-minimum entry requirements for horizon considering they are all part of the calvard arc.
