I got the number from Wikipedia which sources the quarterly meetings. Tropical Freeze Switch hasn't appeared on a quarterly meeting since April 2019 so it'll be more than the 2.25 million stated but clearly not much more otherwise it would've appeared on more recent quarterly meetings.

@Grumblevolcano To me it's the same. There's only like one or two Nintendo games I buy every year, so whether they "fill the gaps" with a ton of ports doesn't make a difference for me. I'd buy more games if they had more Mario/Zelda calibre games. I'm still holding out for a new big IP. Splatoon was the last one I guess, but I wouldn't mind if it was more single player focused.

@BruceCM Sure, but way less than making a new game. And if it does take a lot of work, I'd rather have them develop new games instead. Personally speaking at least.

@Bolt_Strike GOW (original trilogy), Knack and Sonic Unleashed are all pretty mediocre games IMO, and that kind of gameplay is quite dated and boring. Tropical Freeze is one of the best platformers, so if they do another DK game, I rather have another solid platformer over a failed beat-em-up experiment.

So i decided to have a go at a prediction for the alleged Direct on the 20th. I looked into the Amazon leak and tried to place those games. This is not my wishes (Konami would release MGS5 then) but what i think will be revealed:

NMH3 gameplay and release november or december
Mario 3D collection November
Pikmin 3 August
Super Mario 3D World September
Uannonced Nintendo game (Kirby, Zelda remake, ???) October
E shop game (shadow drop)
Doom Eternal date
World War Z official reveal and date
Kingdom Hearts melody game reminder
WB game (Lego star wars)
Square Enix game (Tomb raider collection)
Konami game (skelattack)
Capcom Game (DMC4)
Take two game (2k21)
Bethesda game (Fallout 76)
Ubisoft game (Just Dance)
Indie 1
Indie 2

One last thing.. (BOTW2 or Metroid???)

What do you guys and girls think we will see?

I think a DK game in the 3D world layout would be perfect. You could play diddy, dixxy, cranky and DK all at the same time. It keeps all the good gameplay of the Mario 3D world but makes it a bit fresh.

@sixrings Hopefully the Kingdom Hearts Melody game does well so we can have Kingdom Hearts on switch!
I believe that they were planning for a Super Mario 3D World DLC with maybe Donkey Kong or Wario and Waluigi DLC. That would be awesome!!!!

@Ninja84 I’m hoping the release date for Bravely Default II will pop up in the next direct. I kinda hope something Sonic-related comes soon too but SEGA seem to announce stuff like that themselves.

@Octane Not as dated and boring as yet another retro platformer. As if we don't already have 50 billion of those. I happened to enjoy Unleashed and Knack thank you very much. I can't say the same for the likes of Returns and Tropical Freeze, which did far too little to evolve the series from the original trilogy.

I felt Sonic Unleashed's biggest problems were the daytime stages and Eggmanland, Sonic was an uncontrollable mess during daytime and Eggmanland was way too long.

Grumblevolcano

Bolt_Strike

@Grumblevolcano Disagreed on the former, the daytime stages are really fun, you just need to get good at reflex based platforming and know the stages. Unleashed/Generations' boost gameplay is pretty much the closest SEGA's come to good 3D Sonic gameplay. Eggmanland is definitely way too long though (My record is like, 19 minutes).

@Grumblevolcano Eh, a little bit, but the main things that improved were the level design and making the drifting tighter. If the latter was your main issue, fair enough, but other than that I don't really see what's so massively improved. A lot of what I liked about Generations' gameplay was also in Unleashed's gameplay.

Eh? Most Zelda games either have or are direct sequels.
LoZ -> Zelda II
ALttP -> LA -> ALBW
Four Sword -> FSA (with Minish Cap as a prequel)
OoS <-> OoA (Does this count?)
OoT -> MM
WW -> PH -> ST
And now BotW -> BotW 2
The only games that are standalone are Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, and Triforce Heroes. You could argue Link's Awakening too I suppose, but all media surrounding it at the time positioned it as an ALttP sequel.

@link3710

Back then basically everyone refered to A Links to the Past as ZELDA III and Link's Awakening as ZELDA IV.
I guess that happens when you name Zelda 2 ''Zelda II''.
It was until Ocarina of Time (often refered to as ZELDA 64) when the unofficial numbering went away. With Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker the numbering thing dissolved. I don't remember anyone calling them Zelda 6 and Zelda 7.

@SKTTR That was supposed to be a reply to @theJGG 's comment that direct sequels in Zelda were rare and BotW2 is an exception.

@link3710 Very good point, excuse my presumption. Mini duologies are common in Zelda, to amend my statement. But trilogies are as common as flying pigs.

Maybe it's been awhile since I played A Link to The Past, Link's Awakening and A Link Between Worlds, but how the latter ones sequels to ALTTP? I mean, ALBW started as a port of ALTTP but was changed into something completely different and I don't remember any connections between them

In terms of story not much really. Links Awakening is the same Link from A Link To The Past set after that game and A Link Between Worlds is a hundred years (maybe a thousand?) afterwards, it's more of sequel in the sense it's the same world. Tbh I'd consider ALTTP to ALBW more sequelly than most of the "direct" sequels since it's trying to capture a certain vibe and adding to it rather than here's the next game in the series which may or may not be connected to the last one.

ALttP to ALBW is how I imagine BotW to BotW 2 will be. Same world but story events change something, maybe given the E3 trailer you get to explore underground.
