@FragRed I do think something will happen by July 23rd because the longest gap Nintendo has had with nothing having a release date is 6 days which happened twice:
December 1st 2017 - December 7th 2017 (Xenoblade Chronicles 2 came out on the 1st, December 7th was when Bayonetta 1+2 was revealed with a release date at the Game Awards)
March 20th 2020 - March 26th 2020 (Animal Crossing came out on the 20th, March 26th was the Direct Mini which revealed release date for Xenoblade and announced Clubhouse Games with a release date)
I think the July 20th Direct rumour is a lot more likely than complete silence because of this logic, though revealing a game like how Paper Mario was revealed would also work.
The 3D Mario Collection though I've never believed, it's unrealistic by Nintendo standards. It would be nice if it happened but I'm fully expecting it not to happen.
I still think the mario remasters remakes are too good to be true and will not happen. We will possibly get a 3d world port. For the 35th anniversary I think we will get some wallpapers for your phone and desktop via my Nintendo rewards
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
@Grumblevolcano I would be more inclined to believe the Direct rumours if the date was for say a Tuesday or Wednesday and not a Monday. I don't see why Nintendo needs a 3 day clearance window to avoid Microsoft's Xbox event. I just don't think Nintendo are too concerned about being overshadowed by what Microsoft are to be showing.
Nintendo has even said as much to their shareholders that they aren't concerned by what the competition are up to and seeing as Nintendo is heavily Japanese focused and Microsoft has no market share over there, it just seems odd to try and now worry about the date to hold a Direct. At E3 Nintendo are the last to have their presentation, but they still only have a few hours between what Sony showcase and their own presentation so it's not like they're not use to this kind of thing.
I think the games we will see this year from Nintendo are definitely to be a port of Super Mario 3D World and something like Pikmin 3 as everything else is internally delayed until next year. Hopefully delays to unannounced games could allow for a more packed 2021, but then maybe not if Nintendo decides to delay the original plans for next year also.

Yeah, I'm not sure quite where the idea is coming from, particularly, @FragRed .... Guess we'll see but I'm certainly not hoping for much! If one game gets a trailer around then, it'd do me
@FragRed I don't think Nintendo's worried about being overshadowed by Microsoft, rather that the reverse happens and Nintendo's relationship with Microsoft sours.
I mean let's say for example that the Xbox event is the strongest Xbox event ever (lots of games with gameplay, very varied lineup, the return of beloved IPs that were dormant before, online multiplayer no longer requires XBL Gold, Halo Infinite's direction is fantastic, etc.) meanwhile the Direct only announces 3D World, Pikmin 3, the next fighter for Smash and a bunch of 3rd party games. The Direct would probably still overshadow the Xbox event.
@Grumblevolcano I’m not sure how Nintendo could overshadow Microsoft if they have a Direct on either Tuesday 21st or Wednesday 22nd? I’d agree they wouldn’t want to hold it on the Thursday but the other two days makes no difference. Anyone who’s going to be watching the Microsoft event on Thursday will watch it no matter what Nintendo does the day or two prior. And all the news sites will focus on Microsoft that day too.

Maybe, maybe not, it's hard to say. Between Sushi Striker in 2018 and Brain Training at the end of 2019, it appear as though indiezero needed 15 months to complete two relatively small, new projects. However, NES Remix 1 & 2 are done, and would only require upscaling. I can't imagine that process taking more than a year.
Unless indiezero is working on something else, which is certainly possible.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,544 games (as of February 24th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@octane Its coming when the Switch launches in 2017!, if you can wait that long. Nintendo says the console will have the most reliable analog sticks known to man.
If there is a Direct, I wonder what the spotlight title would be. Bravely Default II was already given spotlight back in March, Paper Mario would be already out if the rumoured date is true (July 20th). Pokemon Sword/Shield perhaps given Fall is approaching?
@Grumblevolcano The only possible options I see is the spotlight would be a brand new game or Zelda. NMH 3 and Bayo 3 aren't big enough to be spotlights (and NMH3 isn't Nintendo published), and Prime 4 isn't likely to be revealed until next E3 at the earliest and SMT V won't be revealed til 2022 at the earliest I wager.
So probably whatever the September title is will get the spotlight if we get a direct this month.
@Slowdive eh, are you kidding, Tokyo Mirage Session and Animal Crossing had already a fix release date, XC DE and Brain Training were already announced at this point when he made the tweet and therefore he just guessed that they would release in the first half and he was absolutly wrong about the remaining 3 (Pikmin 3, MP Trilogy and New style Boutique) since these games haven't even been announced yet
I predict for new IP by Nintendo.
Something underdog but hidden gems such as Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers or Sushi Strikers
I still never heard any user here talked about Dillon's game.
