@IceClimbers Wow. I honestly didn’t remember it being that long a gap. Could’ve sworn there was something between from Nintendo. This year Animal Crossing should keep the sales flowing so I guess it makes sense.

@FragRed There was Labo VR and Box Boy + Box Girl in April. Former was its own announcement outside a Direct and latter while announced in the February Direct could've easily been announced closer to release if the February Direct was an April Direct for example.

I'd guess the main reason the February Direct happened when it happened were the shadow drops (Tetris 99, FFIX, Captain Toad DLC (preordering the DLC gave you a level early), Yoshi demo and Daemon X Machina demo). Otherwise the Direct could've easily been in March/April.

@IceClimbers

If we got as many awesome games as we did in 2019, I don't mind waiting til June for the 2nd big game.

Yoshi, Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem, Astral Chain, Pokemon, Luigi's Mansion 3, Links Awakening.

That is one hell of a good year. Pretty much on par with 2017 except for the fact that none of them reached that very high level that Zelda and Mario did (and Xenoblade imo).

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

I mean, we don't know if they consider The Wonderful 101 a retail title in April anyways, considering it's one of their IPs even if it isn't being published by them. But I'm wagering that'll be 'their' title for the month of April regardless. It's probably made a bigger impact than the two april titles last year at least regardless.

Anyways the next big game is almost certainly May/June, the question is more what it is. I still think it'll be Mario Golf (meh) but maybe I'll be surprised. I'm pegging Bravely Default II as taking the same July spot that Octopath had at least. Which if Xenoblade is coming out before the holiday, makes it a likely candidate for May to space the JRPGs out a little.

Definitely still holding out hope that the announcement will be tomorrow. >,<

@Monkeido me too. I went from having lots of hype, to tamed expectations, back to now craving a direct.

There definitely should be a Direct soon if Nintendo have more titles they yet to announce and they have very little already announced for 2020 not counting third parties. Just Animal Crossings, Xenoblade Chronicles and more Pokemon of course. I am not counting Metroid Prime 4 and Breath of the Wild 2 assuming those are Holiday, if not 2021 titles. Personally, I wouldn't mind Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess & Wind Waker and Super Mario 3D World ports as tie-overs until the Holiday releases. I assume there will be at least on major release in the summer, Bayonetta 3 could be just that. Oh, and something for Nintendo Switch Online would be nice but I am not holding my breath for something good to come of that.

@NintendoByNature Nintendo now announcing new NES/SNES games for Switch Online and releasing trailers/info about Pokemon doesn't bode well.. ^^'

Though at least the Pokemon Company/Game Freak usually just do their own thing anyway.

@Monkeido Announcement today. I guarantee you.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

Grumblevolcano

On the one hand you have the original gap between the September 2018 Direct and February 2019 Direct being only 2 days difference from the gap between the September 2019 Direct and tomorrow (don't forget that the September 2018 Direct was delayed a week because of the earthquake in Japan, the original date was September 6th 2018).

On the other hand, Animal Crossing is a lot bigger than Yoshi so Nintendo may think that Animal Crossing, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and DLC for various games is enough that a general Direct isn't needed until March/April. Anyway we'll find out in just over 30 minutes.

Anti-Matter

I think there is no Direct at the moment due to Corona Virus epidemic.
Nintendo might delay the Direct until it's safe to be aired.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Om...

DannyBoi

@Anti-Matter I don't think they will do that. And they don't have directs in China. And the coronavirus isn't as serious as they make it out to be.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

DannyBoi

@Grumblevolcano They could announce it at 3pm. There will be a direct this week.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

Monkeido

I guess that means no (General) Direct this month. Definitely a bit surprised. While I have plenty of games to play across different platforms, I was still expecting (and hoping) for a Direct this week. Especially with how barren 2020 looks for Nintendo right now (as yes, I know that can heavily change before the end of 2020).

As much as I love Animal Crossing, which I'll be playing for months on end, it's not the most intensive game. I'll probably play it a lot for the first month, but after that it becomes more of a "pop-in / pop-out" type of game, which leaves plenty of time for other games.

Something is not right at Nintendo. They have been too quiet. Longest we have gone without a normal direct, not announced their plans for 2020. All this maintence they have been having.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

Grumblevolcano

@DAHstroy I think next week is going to be Animal Crossing Direct (20th) and the following week being Indie World early on in the week (e.g. 24th/25th) as the indie presentations have been on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays before.

Grumblevolcano

Anti-Matter

No Direct on 13 Feb 2020, so it will be on beautiful number 20/02/2020.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Om...

IceClimbers

I think we get Indie World later this month with a general Direct the second week of March. No AC Direct.
