Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

Hi-Fi Rush is now being rumored as a Q1 2024 release for Switch and PlayStation. Perhaps it'll be shadowdropped at a Direct?

I'm beginning to think the Direct is likely on the 21st, given the scant information about Side Order and the lack of buzz about this week (not even Pyoro has anything to say yet, and given how he was still able to leak the date for Golden Sun on NSO recently, I doubt he's suddenly been shut out). I don't think they want it to conflict with Mario vs. Donkey Kong or the likely Pokemon Presents during the last week of the month.

@PikaPhantom The rumours are getting out of control, so far it's:

• Pentiment on a non-Xbox console (not rumoured as such but rather the 2022 Xbox Showcase said "Console Launch Exclusive" rather than "Console Exclusive")
• Hi-Fi Rush on Switch/PS5 (been rumoured for awhile)
• Sea of Thieves on Switch/PS5 (been rumoured for awhile)
• Starfield on PS5 (new rumour)
• Indiana Jones on PS5 (new rumour)
• Hellblade 2 on PS5 (new rumour)

I feel Hi-Fi Rush would be shadow drop in Direct on 7th/8th and then when things have settled a bit Microsoft announce their multiplatform strategy.

I have training for 2 full days this week. The 6th and the 7th. I'm just hoping a direct is Thursday or next week or I'll have to wait until 5pm CST to watch

The directs are almost always when I am at work... I just desperately try to avoid looking at any news or get near this site until I can watch it. 😝

@FishyS same. They're always when I'm at work. But since I do outside sales, and I have a home office, I usually get to watch live. But this training has been booked for 2 months now so I can't get out of it even If I wanted to lol.

@PikaPhantom I doubt they'll do something on the 21st. Its too close to Pokemon Day at that point.

@skywake Pokemon on NSO is more likely to be announced in a Pokemon Presents than a mainline Direct, that's a huge announcement for Pokemon that TPC is going to want for themselves. Maybe if we're lucky they'll announce it on Pokemon Day. Of course I keep saying that it feels like they should announce it every Presents and then it comes and goes without a word about NSO, so who knows.

One of the problems is that Pokemon fans want to be able to transfer their Pokemon up to the new games. So Game Freak is going to want to try and make them compatible with Home. This may be part of the reason behind the delay, because they're trying to figure this out, but considering that they were able to make the VC games on the 3DS compatible with Bank, I find it unlikely that this is a major barrier.

Beyond Pokemon, they have been teasing DKC's 30th, so maybe Donkey Kong Land.

@FishyS That is true, if it were to happen it would likely be for a new console as ppposed to cross-gen or just for the surrender Switch. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. And I am in a similar situation to you, I don’t know all that much about resourses.

@NinChocolate There hasn't been an announcement and the next direct probably won't be happening for a while. Realistically, the next one we're getting is probably a Pokemon Presents... at least if we don't hear anything about a direct this week or next.

This Wednesday or later this month or not this month. 😝 There have been a zillion supposed leakers and rumours but most of them are just guessing this week because that is when it was the last 2 years. No info from the one leaker people semi trust.

Nintendo's silence today so far is looking promising for a Direct announcement tomorrow.

That's always the trend isn't it?
An announcement on Tuesday around 2-3pm UK time with at least 24 hours notice for the presentation on a Wednesday. If the presentation has any PEGI 18 content, it's typically broadcast much later in the day.

Shall we take bets on if Hi-Fi Rush will open the Direct?

Something else I thought about. Is it possible that we just get a Direct Mini and not a full Direct? If we're really getting a next gen hardware announcement this year, it might make sense to simply have a Mini to update us on games that were already announced and third parties and they announce little to nothing new here until they're ready to announce the new hardware. I think if we get a Mini or no mainline Direct at all this month, that could be a strong sign that a next gen announcement is coming in the next few months.

@Magician My prediction is they start the Direct with Fighters Pass 3 with the first fighter being either Zack (Crisis Core) or Alear (Fire Emblem Engage) and the Direct closer being Metroid Prime 2+3 followed by a teaser for Metroid Prime 4.
