Topic: Is The Switch 2 Worth It???

@larausjarod We'll see the exact 2025 sales numbers on Feb 3 although we already know it is very good for the year. We'll have to wait some more months to see if sales are dipping.

Generally, though, I think @OmnitronVariant was just giving their personal opinion of whether it is worth it for them, so sales data isn't really relevant.

For me the purchase became 'worth it' the first time I heard the joycons snap into place. No need to debate past there.

The Switch 2 is living rent free in their head. They've never missed an opportunity to fill these pages with complaints about it since they got it and despite initially "threatening" to sell it and leave these forums.... they keep buying games for it just to complain about them

I think people being a bit snarky about @OmnitronVariant when they share their "opinions" is fair game

@OmnitronVariant clearly you have forgotten kirby air riders. a true example of how stunning is nintendo is with extra power. and compared to it’s competitors, i think nintendo has released/promised plenty of exclusives that make Switch 2 worth it. i think its been a dream of a year for nintendo fans, except the high prices. maybe nintendo isnt for you?

Actions speak louder than words.

Anyone who claims Switch 2 isn't worth it but refuses to sell it, contradicts their own claim through their opposite actions. If someone truly felt it wasn't worth it, they would literally sell it because it's not worth owning to them. By keeping the system, that is an admission they find the console more worth having than the money from selling it.

Anyone can say anything. But it's only by one's actions their true beliefs are revealed. I can say I'm a Christian all day. If I go out and get high every night, sleep around, curse, and live like the world, then my professed belief is a lie. Only by my actions of submitting myself to the will of Christ can my true belief be tested.

@JaxonH I can tell i didn't read all the the conversation (but most of it) yes switch 2 isn't worth the money. Still have my switch and switch oled have no problems with it. But personal deal would be go with ps5 way better deal. You get nothing from switch2 except the hype from switch 1 That's it

Oh that's right you get upgrade from 30 to 60fps for some games (some games!!!!!) Not all and to pay for that is insane. Mario world is bad in everything as it is but for every market there is an user if that's okay for you go and buy switch 2. Had switch2 for like two weeks i think and it didn't feel anything different from switch 1 returned it to shop for refund since we have policy for using but not satisfied. In conclusion sorry but switch2 is fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu !!!!
Close to wii and wiiu, wii was awesome same goes to to switch it's awesome. Other than that fuuuuu.

I'm not here to argue with you over whether it's worth it. If you're not interested then don't buy it. Nobody cares what you do.

Plenty of people do think it's worth it, which is why it's the fastest selling console in history. That doesn't mean literally every human on earth will feel that way. If you're not interested, move along. Why are you even responding to me.

You not only didn't sell it but you continue to buy games for it and invest time discussing how much you dislike it. I don't really agree with the general religious flavouring of the post @JaxonH made above but the general thrust of the argument is reasonable. When someone says they really dislike a thing and yet continue to invest time and money into that thing? What they're saying loses all value, their actions contradict it

To be blunt, I don't think anything you said here really contributes much at all to the discussion. The Switch 2 is nothing more than a higher spec version of the Switch. There are new games built specifically for it, not many at launch but that's the case for all new platforms. But there are also existing titles that can take advantage of the newer hardware

To say that "you get upgrade from 30 to 60fps for some games" is just wrong. It's a pretty shallow and ill-informed take. What you actually get is more power, and some existing Switch games have been updated to take advantage of that. Some of those updates are paid, some are not. But what you're getting there is heavily dependent on the game. Some games go from 1080p/60 to 4K/60, some games go from 1080p/30 to 1440p/60. Some games even offer 120fps. Some games get better assets, different settings, the works. Some games they haven't released a patch yet all you get is more even performance and better loading. And some titles ran fine on the Switch already so you gain nothing

Just like what you got for updates from PS4 to PS5 depended on the game. And some games gave you updates for different costs, some you got improvements for nothing, some were paid. And some games play on the PS5 exactly as they did on the PS4. It's literally the same thing happening here

If what the Switch is isn't for you? Then cool. It's not for you. But at the end of the day it's just a piece of hardware you use to play games on. The console war bit is a bit silly. I truly don't know what you or others really gain out of calling it a Wii U or that the PS5 is better or whatever. Truly, nobody cares

It's your own fault if you can't get half its value when it's only six months old, and it's your fault for buying a system without waiting for it to be worth it for you before purchasing. Who buys a system day one without it being worth it for them, knowing the line up, then complains just a few months later?

My point remains. If it wasn't worth it to someone they would sell it. I literally JUST sold my 2nd (scratched screen and bought replacement but then fixed it) and got $400. A $50 loss. That "only get half" is hogwash.

So no, you don't have to answer to me. But neither do I have to answer to you when I state the obvious.

You know, Gaming forums are a bit silly sometimes. I kinda wonder if when Ryobi or something, to pick a mundane example, releases a new higher capacity battery. Whether or not there are forums where people are asking whether the clearly superior and improved but relatively expensive higher capacity battery is worth it. And if on those threads there are people just not answering the question and instead going on about how some other brand is better or that the new battery is about as useful as a Samsung Note 7 on a plane

The Switch 2 is a more capable version of what the Switch already was. That's all it is. If you're into that then it's probably worth it, if you're not then it's probably not. Did we need 16 pages for that? Probably not. Yet here we are. Well done everyone involved

@skywake Here we go now it makes sence It is what it is nothing more nothing less but as it was contributed that's sad nintendo should/could release new switch1/oled improved version. Now we have switch2 and yes it's disappointing.

Just to add some salt in the water ps4 games was available on switch1 and developels said it's possible. What did switch2 add to it? Nothing. Fine we get few games instead of cloud gaming but meh... I would choose different console if i was a gamer. Portable with the go? Most are (I said before i have it but not a fan of it)

@iaLgan It's very much a console made for people who like Nintendo games and also people who like playing handheld at least part of the time. If I didn't like either of those things I would have grabbed a PS5 instead. Since I do like both of those things, Switch 2 is a great option; PS5 or steam deck aren't worth it for me personally since Switch 2 gives me much more of what I want and I don't need several consoles. But yeah, very much depends on what you are looking for.

@FishyS Just pointing out that a opinion isn't a real good indicator how it's really doing consider it's cost is more affordable consider some alternative. And it's GPU is on par with PS5 Pro not to beat it shows that it can now do what people always put down the Switch1 version. I think alot will come to understand there are limits how far it can push tech but Switch2 is combination of how far it has come. And underestimating it will come at their own cost. As right now Switch2 are selling and that is what matter to Nintendo. If prices goes up it's not just Switch2 but all other systems as well. People make it sounds it's just a Nintendo but it's all gaming company dealing with these issues.
