@Hapless @FishyS Oh gotcha, thanks for your inputs. I can handle some button-mashing, just as long as it isn't done super often. I had a hard time getting into Hyrule Warriors because of that (it's cool if people like Warriors games, just isn't my cup of tea). That punch upgrade would definitely come in handy for me.

I don't know if they took inspiration from them or not, but all the smashing and collecting gold reminds me of the lego games, smashing bricks and collecting studs. Both are really fun.

My physical copy arrived today, only played a few minutes but can tell I’ll be playing this a ton

Gotta say I'm loving the retro inspired DKC call back bonus stages! I hope there's many more. Anyone know if David wise was in any way involved in the soundtrack or did they just use the old DKC songs with a remixed vibe?

I know it's been more than a week now, but Bananza crept back up to 91 on metacritic

Definitely the best nintendo game I've played this year, and going all the way back to echoes of wisdom.

So true!

They really nailed the tactile feel of all the punching and movement. Everything just feels so rewarding, and the mechanics get frequent variations with the various doors and mini games and stuff.

Really well-designed and developed video game.

Same. Both Bananza and EoW had such unexpected game gimmicks which somehow work so well.

I’m in the first world and there’s a mini game I’m having trouble with. You get 25 seconds and there are two walls separating two enemies and I couldn’t break both walls and defeat both enemies before the time runs out. Does anyone know how to do this quickly?

@Hapless
That’s the one. Unfortunately by the time I get to the second enemy the timer runs out.

Phew, finally beat the main story. And what a marathon the end of the game was. Not surprised that there was a twist final boss in the form of K. Rool, the game had been hinting at them the entire time, but boy is the end of the game long and drawn out. There's multiple times where I was wondering "Is the game finally over?" and no, it just kept going and going. And I definitely had an "Oh fudge" moment when I saw the return of the Kredits after beating K. Rool the first time, it's never a good sign when those show up. That being said, I did love the segment where you surface into New Donk City and K. Rool takes over, that was such an epic moment. Overall though, aside from being super drawn out (and it didn't help that I was playing it late at night), it was quite a way to wrap up the game, they really made up for K. Rool's absence in this game. The only thing I'm not happy about is they haven't really addressed the Young Pauline situation, but there's a post-game quest I haven't played through yet, so IDK if that answers that.

Hi, after using the photo mode in Mario kart world, I have started with the photo mode in Bananza. I think the photo mode of Donkey Kong Bananza have major problems in positioning the camera with the right controller stick. I hope Nintendo can fix it with a future patch.

I beat the final boss on my 3rd try (3rd time lucky) and the ending was great, however, I just want to check something.

POSSIBLE SPOILER

Has anyone else here completed it and is there alternate endings based on the wish option you select at Planet Core? - You get two options "Surface" and "Bananas" and I chose Bananas, is there a different ending if you choose "Surface"?

maxrpg

Bolt_Strike

@maxrpg I don't think it matters. Both wishes seem to get fulfilled simultaneously as the Banandium Root sends you to the surface with a geyser of bananas. So you seem to get both of them at the same time regardless of which one you ask for.

Yey, got every banana (777), and every song. I think you get a slightly different picture after the credits, depending on how complete you played the game. Party on Pauline!

@Jhena, I've noticed on your play activity that you've altered played as much Bananza as Mario Kart World! Talk about dedication! Also, congrats on beating the game!

@ShieldHero
Thanks! I just went online again with my Switch 2. Now the playtime should be updated to more than 70 hours. Or was it already at 70 hours? Hehe, yeah if I choose to do something, I can be very serious about it.
